For those who watched (and mostly agreed with) my original GT Critique series, did you ever want to share it with someone but didn’t want to link them to a three and a half hour video they probably wouldn’t watch? Well, here’s the solution! The closing statement from that series which summarises pretty much all of my main points. Enjoy! (If you want an even shorter summary just tell them that GT7 is a really shit, baby-fied version of a Gran Turismo game)
@@drunkpunk5393 I've watched it a few times I can follow along the narration in some parts of the video lmao. I've never played GT7, despite having been a part of the series since the very beginning in GT1, but I love watching / listening to others talking about the game.
I really struggle to get how hard can it be. All they needed to do is release Gran Turismo 2 with GT7 graphics and driving model. Like why do the lootboxes? Why try to ram in the microtransaction model? Why try to force in GT Sport type racing? I feel like every 'improvement' in terms of the game loop, is actually a downgrade. Nothing in this game is better over the experience we've had with GT2. All sense of mystery and journey is lost and it's a perfect metaphor for current childhood. You're handheld through everything, GT7 is the embodiment of helicopter parenting you through a safe experience, so I'm fully on board with calling it a babyfied version of GT. Shame, was really looking forward to it when it released, and I will never forgive the /r/granturismo subreddit and all the other idiots that live behind hype curtain trying to defend it. Like how blind or daft do you have to be to not see this game for what it really is? Shame, could've been great
I haven't felt amger not because those flaws are big i felt anger only because he's talking about it. I JUST WANT TO ENJOY THE GODDAMN GAME NOT GET HIT WITH THIS!!!!!
Dont worry Rofl. Our prayers have been answered. They are finally giving us EXACTLY what we asked for. This August Update, we're getting the legendary ✨️Toyota ✨️Hiace ✨️Ambulance✨️ 🤯🥳🥳
"show don't tell" is not just about visual media. It's not about visually seeing something, it's about experiencing the evidence of something rather than just being given information. "Jim told his family to run, while he kept the wolf at bay" is superior to "Jim is very brave". But even then, the same criticism applies. The game should be letting you find out what these cars are like and then giving more information if you go looking for it. Instead, the game is trying to tie you to a chair and FORCE you to appreciate some really surface level car history.
That's something exclusive to polyphony digital games and I dunno why they still do it when other racing game devs are more approachable with their UIs
you know they never force you to read the description of cars or upgrades in gt1-6 but when you re having fun with the game and want to know how to fix a certain behavior of the car or just have it like you want to you read the stuff and be thankful in gt7 nobody cares about the history of some shitboxes or upgrades since they dont make it better often only worse
@@o00nemesis00o PD Back then: "Hey, this is a car. if you want to find out more, you can check out in this card right here" the newcomer to the GT series: "OMG, is that engine has 500+ horsepower? that awesome!'" PD Today: "Loook at these cars. it has ENGINE on it and it moves. is it awesome?" the newcomer to the GT series: *sound confused* "emmm...no?"
not enough gold in all the world so why have i surrendered to your softlock ways the grind has opened up to the core is there anywher to go from here now sick with the books consuming our GT league
Thw most comprehensive and well condensed criticism for a game franchise I used to adore... Long live GT4 on PCSX2 and the emulation/modding community that keep it alive!!!
@@keisuketakahasi4584I think so in the controls settings if you select the player 1 controller options and then click on the dualshock there should be an option to change it to wheel and then from there you should also be able to select the thrustmaster wheel, although you still have to bind the controls manually
I completely agree with your assessment of GT7. To me, it seems like it’s less about actual, hard-core racing and more about the pomp and circumstance of the ideal of racing. The focus is more elegance and preserving some kind of “racing heritage” than getting in there and race for the fun of it. There’s a whole lot of fluff layered over a platforms that tries to please everyone but ultimately pleases no one. I love this series but it needs a 100% complete overhaul. It needs to be less “shiny” and more gritty. Less formal and more ‘in your face”. Less “spectacular” and more visceral. I’m thinking of the Grid series of racing games as as example of these descriptions. Regardless, I will still appreciate GT and always follow it but yeah, Polyphony Digital needs to re-create and re-work GT from the ground up. It’s not fun anymore.
There is no 'elegance' or 'racing heritage' in GT7. The racing also has no feeling of actual speed. If you've ever gone 200mph, then you'd realise just how fucking nerve-racking that actually is compared to GT7. There is no sense of danger or loss in GT7, and that genuinely sucks. I'd like to see a hardcore mode where you have to repair and replace vehicles. Everything feels far too smooth and 'nice'. It's a massive shame that GRID never properly took off, as the first game was genuinely amazing. Codemasters fucked it all up because they allowed players to be trolls online and didn't put the progression in the player's control. Now, if Codemasters were to make a game like GT, then we might have something to be excited about...
When you hit the end credits and see videos of Kaz throughout the making of the game, and contrast it with the car and motorsports enthusiast he used to be and the pretentious rich guy he is now, you understand why this game contrasts with the older ones so much. Maybe I didn’t word this right but I hope it makes sense. Just reading about Kaz since the original game and to now, he’s a different guy and we have a different game that’s targeting different people. It would be better if this game was never marketed as a post-gt sport return to series form. If we have GT 1-6 and GT Sport, (I’m ignoring the prologue and demo games) this is more like Gran Turismo Hors d’Oeuvres.
I don't know where PD are looking at feedback, but I really hope Kaz and the team see your video series. It's fantastic and shows just how brilliant GT7 could be...
@@RukaGoldheart long ago I saw it as passion and love for what he did. Now I realize it's just ego and snobness, and that we got lucky that GT1 to 4 where as good as they still are.
creative director/executive producer has to change. It would be so fun, having a career, starting on karts, getting professional, and add a manager type game on top of that. If you're used to fighting games' training mode, i really miss a sandbox type editor. More opportunities to go full bonkers on the game, and have fun like it's your own toy box.
It feels like Kaz just wants to make a Virtual Car Museum with interactive features, but that doesn't sell the good numbers. So they just slap a VideoGame on top of it... and tadaaa, you get GT7.
Kaz is such a brilliant game designer but he seems to only care about progress instead of doing what works and progressing from that. Imagine GT4 but with new cars, 4K Graphics, new tracks, new events, car customization, scapes and a slightly different progression system (maybe something incorporating the car collecting aspect while still keeping things open ended for players, the cafe can act as side quests or a method of getting money or cars if you can’t progress in the main game). And don’t forget Vision GT! It could be a side mode for those who don’t want to see them mixed in with regular real cars, it could be like the missions we have in GT7 but it could still be separated by car class (so the Bugatti VGT isn’t racing against the Copen VGT). But that’s just my imagination, we probably won’t get that game unless Kaz is literally babysat by Sony into making a masterpiece (which won’t happen).
Kaz doesn't care about making great GT anymore, he made his fame before PS3 era, now is just marketing tool for brands and eSports whil Kaz goes to forest and searches for butterflies
which is ironic, because Japanese automakers are known for designing an engine and then sticking with it until its near perfect... instead of developing a new one every few years... that and they're attention to precision is what makes their automobiles so reliable/durable.
Wow you actually almost summerised everything into 3 minutes, good going. I've certainly shared the GT7 playlist and hoped it wasn't too much to watch for others.
Short and sweet. Gran Turismo to me has 6 mainline titles, 2 prologue titles, 3 versions of Concept of which only 1 is worth your time and countless freak titles
It really feels to me like Polyphony wants to move away from the classic GT formula, but they needed to brand GT7 as a return to the old games, probably because they (and Sony) knew that doing that would sell more. As someone who liked the direction they tried to go with in GT Sport, I feel like it would have been better for both "classic gt" and "sport" fans if GT7 didn't try so hard to brand itself as something PD doesn't seem interested in doing. I'd rather have a focused, well designed GT Sport 2 that captures a niche, than a half-assed attempt at recreating the classics that pleases no one (obviously a bit biased as someone that likes Sport, but you see the logic).
I also think it’s time for Polyphony to hire more staff that can develop this game more efficiently and quickly. Forza with its HUGE team can pump out cars by the dozens in updates. Where as Gran Turismo can only release 3 or 4 because of its incredibly small team.
Forza devs just use recycled cars from old games . Example is Nissan Slivia which look awful because its taken from forza Motorsport 2 . I agree with rest tho
@Ryanfromkerala and even the brand new cars seem to have similar polygon count as the old games, why? Also I'm wondering why they can't use the extremely detailed autovista models in normal gameplay
@@falcongamer58 Because it's extremely detailed. Too much of a performance hog. TBH it's nuts that they make two cars in the first place.. One just for show, and another for the actual game... like... wtf..? How much money do you guys have? It's like spending MORE money on the thumbnail for a car than the car itself..
@@vgaportauthority9932Different model details are quite common in any 3D games. They are known as LOD (Level Of Detail). To speed up the process i think they must have some sort of software to help automate the making of lower level of LOD
Yeah, no matter how good GT7 looks, the fact that 80% of that fat 160GB space the game uses is meant for online races and events only, and the campaign more is a joke and the amount of credits you gain is so little, it makes GT Sport look like the best option. Even if you can't change car paints in that game anymore because, who knows why, they decided to remove that with the offline patch. Either way, GT is becoming a ghost of what once it was, and if they don't go fixing it soon, I doubt people will stick around for a GT 9. I dunno, the fact that you pay fatty 70 for a game that requires you to be online always and most of it's content requires a PS plus subscription is a joke and an offense to the buyer. Especially if you're truly offline, then the game is unplayable. That's insane.
I don't mind the lack of events for specific cars. I just want to drive them so I'm happy they are in the game. Not like I can just whip out my McLaren P1 or my '69 Mustang Boss any day of the week IRL, this is the next best thing and it does extremely well in that regard. Is it perfect, far from it, as you expertly detailed here. However, is any game truly flawless? I'd say no, but what GT7 does get right is the love story for all car lovers. It shows the history, scanned to nearly imperceptible levels when comparing IRL models and in game models. The overall driving experience in GT7 is honestly miles ahead from where the series used to be, especially post major physics update, changed everything for the better in my opinion. I just think we shouldn't downplay the tremendous amount of work that's been involved especially when its essentially a launch title for a new system that developers haven't fully realised its potential. Like you mentioned, with all the pitfalls, at the end of the day, STILL many of us would chose this as our favorite game. I'd say just enjoy what we have in the moment and learn other aspects of the game that you may have otherwise never touched. If you hate the story mode learn more about scapes or learn how to be competitive in Sport. If you dislike Sport than go drive your favorite cars around some of your favorite tracks in custom races or time trials. The beauty of GT7 is that it's massive and not many ppl have collected every vehicle or conquered every aspect of the game so truly its a game for the consumer, with however you decide to play. I just think from your perspective these highlighted issues are YOUR unforgivables, and you're entitled to that opinion and shouldn't be castrated for your opinion. However, lets not forget that not many any other games or even racing games can beat the enjoyment level we receive from GT7 and at the end of the day isn't that how we should define a successful game? How enjoyable it is? I'd say largely yes... and GT7 at least for me is achieving this with flying colors. I'd like to say bravo to PD and everyone involved. I'm happier with GT7 than if I would be without. I'm excited for how this game and future iterations continue to evolve.
Thank you for saying GT7 is a total SNOOZEFEST. Yes it really is. Not to mention I've been robbed 3 times during roulette tickets from getting a Ferrari Invitation with 4 star tickets. I have not even got a single Porsche invitation nor even a Lamborghini invitation (the Lambo invitation only gives you a Veneno, and it's kinda pointless because you can drive the car in GT Sport but Invites are still dumb) The Invitations are so pointless and forgotten to an extent that getting monthly updates with new cars that are purchasable in the Brand Central anytime are more expensive than the Invite cars. They should just remove them immediately and permanently. The only 3 races from different tracks that I could grind for almost a million credits for 30 minutes/hour is getting tiring and repetitive too, same goes with trying to wait for 2 weeks to get either one or two million credits depending how fast you are after setting the fastest time on Lap Time Challenge in Sport Mode and target times will keep changing depending the amount of players attempting it and also setting it for world record, it's mental. GT7 doesn't feel like a true Gran Turismo game anymore, it's just Gacha Turismo. Monthly updates with just 3-5 new cars won't save the game even with new extra menus. Even I agree the most people complain about are the lack of single player events in some tracks, I know it's understandable we can't get a new track every month honestly. I've already finished all License Tests and Circuit Experiences with Gold, and not interested to do Mission Challenges at all because some rewards aren't worth it.
nah but seriously though, I havent even received or seen an invitation since like middle 2022 or whatever I wish they added back the special stage route x race from gran turismo 6, it was fun speeding down the track with the bugatti veyron and you get a good amount of credits I dont really care about the 2 weeks to get credits for sport mode Single player is boring, I just end up playing multiplayer all the time (Unless I am tuning to make my car accelerate faster or get a higher top speed) I dont get most of the cars that come with a update, but if they add back the lamborghini gallardo (including some variants), other porsche cars (gt2 and gt2 rs) and toyota gt-one race car then maybe I will consider buying I would also buy the suzuki escudo but I think I missed out, probably takes 9 months for it to come back
I just finished watching the entire three-hour video breakdown yesterday, and it covered every single thing I've felt and thought about GT7. A game that felt like a heartbreaking betrayal for me, someone who is a petrolhead BECAUSE of Gran Turismo 2, and considers GT4 as his favourite game of all time.
I'm a much newer GT player (GT4 to GT6 for me), but my sentiments are similar to yours - GT7 is a betrayal. Honestly, it would have been better if they came out with GT Sport 2. At least then PD would be open about their intentions, which is to focus on the FIA-backed E-sports. Sure it's upsetting for those longing for classic GT experience, but it won't be a backstabbing maneuver like GT7 was.
Same opinion here. I stopped playing GT7 three months ago so I missed a few updates but since the updates were pretty much all the same I didnt really bothered turning on my console for this. I was done with everything back in 2022. The cafe, the licenses, the driving missions and the circuit experience. All of these things I had done pretty fast and the only thing I theoreticly have to do is buying the three 24h Le Mans Winner cars to get the last trophy but since the cars are too expensive Im not going into the game farming credits for days only to get a trophy I recently started playing GT4 again on PC and its a day-night difference. This game is actually fun to play even after hours of playing
I agree with every point. As a single player mostly with the question: "I bought the car. Now what?"..... Please!!!!! Just add events and races for these cars. Why are there sooooo many limitation for the road cars? Why is tuning a big thing, but as soon as I just put better tires on a car it falls out of the performance points limitations?... The questions I have just about this issue could go on and on.
If GT7 was released on PC, modders would instantly make a great campaign mode. All the elements like, the cars, tracks, simulation, etc. are already there. The solution is so simple, and that makes this all the more frustrating. GT7 is going to die 2 steps away from being an amazing game, and as someone who grew up with GT since I was a child, I'm sad to say that GT7 is the only game I regret buying in the past few years.
I have a Logitech G29 wheel which only works on PS (PC as well but I don’t have one (yet…GT4 on PCsx2 here I come!!) Anyway I love racing games because of the wheel.. But GT Sport and GT7 are still my favs to play not because of content just because of driving style!
Very well sumarised. I loved so much the older games. I used to spend hours plaiyng the campain mode of GT2 and GT4, but now even with a lot of things to do in GT7, I don´t feel motivated to do, everything is so ease and pointless. The most fun in GT7 for me is just the sport mode and lobbies, and i hate that it has a lot of bugs and you have to wait a lot to play another race
My latest grievance with Gran Turismo 7 is the fact that out of any region the americans get way more exclusive content compared to any other region. Additionally some of that content seems to spit on the face of the rest of the player base. Since launch here is all the exclusive content that could be earned in GT7 and how you get it (I'm not including the Dior Mangusta since it can be bought by any player without some sort of pre-requisite): Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept Stealth Model - Pre-Order bonus (available to everyone) Toyota GR Yaris 'Nation Livery' - Purchase the 25th Anniversary Edition of Gran Turismo 7 (available to everyone) Toyota Supra GT500 'Anti Social Social Club' - Code received when purchasing clothing (available to people who can actually get the clothes) Mclaren F1 GTR 'Hagerty Driver's Club' - Code received with membership (America only) Dallara SF19 'Red Bull' - Code received as part of Red Bull Capture Point (America only) Red Bull X2019 '25th Anniversary' - Participate in the 25th Anniversary Event (available to everyone) Porsche 917 K 'Hagerty Driver's Club' - Code received with membership (America only) Porsche 959 'Dakar Rally' - Participate in the Porsche event (America Only) Porsche 917 K '1970 Le Mans' - Participate in the Porsche event (America Only) Porsche 911 RSR 'Pink Pig' - Participate in the Porsche event (America Only) So if you're keeping track, American players of GT7 have the opportunity to get *two* versions of the Porsche 917 K a car that costs 18 million in-game. And they don't even need to win, just participate. How is that fair to the rest of us? I find it also ridiculous they get the cheap red bull promotion (a brand sold everywhere) whereas the only brand car the rest of us can get is the Anti Social Social Club Supra, which if you've tried to buy their clothes is not cheap. This is ridiculous.
I think if I was to try to summarise GT7, it would be that it’s more like GT Sport 2 than an entry in the main series. It feels like a half-arsed „oh stop whinging here’s some non-sport Mode things“ to win back some of the people they lost with GT Sport. I personally hate the online races, the time trails are the only thing I enjoy about sport mode, and I feel like I was promised a proper game and I’ve got a prologue version instead
I understand the feeling of watching your favourite franchise stagnate from one being an innovative passion project to questioning if it was just a fluke. I am a Gundam fan
See this is why I stick to old school Gran Turismo. I've been wary of the series ever since GT5 onwards. And my wariness has been more than proven. Meanwhile my favorite games in the series are being expanded upon by people who are even more diehard fans of them than me. Gran Turismo 2 recently saw the release of the absolutely _exceptional_ Gran Turismo 2: A-Spec mod, which adds a ton of new cars and is also going to dripfeed new events. Oh, and not just predictable stuff like your Mercedes CLK-GTRs or your 787Bs, oh no. (Though the former is apparently coming eventually) This is a _Gran Turismo 2 mod._ It has _weird stuff._ Like the Mercedes CLR (yes, _that_ Mercedes CLR) and the 767B. Weird race cars you've probably never heard of like the Sintura. That isn't to say you won't see new familiar cars like McLarens, but this mod loves weird and obscure garbage. Which to me is the essence of Gran Turismo 2. Still being updated by the way! It's a slow dripfeed, but hey, it's a fan effort!
I see this as, "this isn't Gran Turismo 7, it's Gran Turismo Sport 2". I honestly don't think they care about anything but competitive people, and the rest of the game like the single player content, is just a means to try and get more people to play competitively.
They don't give a damn and never will. Kaz just does what he wants and doesnt listen. What about a McLaren 720s or 720s EVO instead of an 8 year old car? Ferrai GT3 is 2 gens behind too. Or any of the Super GT cars like the Supra or new NSX, new fairlady Z, or new Lexus? Nah guys heres another 40 year old Porsche 911, an ambulance and an 8 seater. I could go on all day.
In Gran Turismo 4 we got a pace car, a car with a 16 liter engine, the first ever cars, the Model T, the Auto Union Streamline, and others I can’t recall now. Not a single one of these cars had a ‘purpose’ or events dedicated to having a chance to use them, but were a part of the unique charm and culture of these games. And yet, twenty years later, here we are stripping a game of its identity as a GT game for the audacity to do that again. Now an ambulance is crossing the line into absurdity that can’t be tolerated. I also wouldn’t mind some more events, but it’s not like the opportunity to drive historically relevant cars or quirky cars is useless in a game. It’s not useless because it doesn’t act as a cog in the linear progression of the ‘game’.
The Nissan / Toyota relationship is worth of mentioning, with some odd additions from Toyota I just can't un-think it's turning into a high quality simcade-ish Choro Q racing game
the only really good thing I can say about GT7 is its pretty watching replays and pausing them to take some nice screenshots but when I wanna have fun in a GT game I generally start up GT4
These videos make me want to play more of these games. I've only ever played GT4, a little of Gt3. And the weird PSP version which was fun on long drives. I think I will try maybe 1-2 and give 3 another shot. Then maybe try 5-6. Honestly I was surprised GT4 was exactly how I remember from when I was a kid. I replayed Forza Motorsport 3 and it was similar but not as near close to what I remembered
They need to add far more Group GT3 cars. They are missing out on a swathe of cars that quite honestly should be in the game. I would rather the game take a graphical hit, and have far more content, than have the graphics as they are with barely anything to do. Having one giant diamond is far less interesting than having several diamonds - this is what made previous GT games fun, and it's why GT4 and GT5 are the best games in the franchise.
This is the first Gran Turismo game released in America that I have not bought. Sport was such a disappointment that I waited on this one. Glad I did. Just wish the franchise hadn't lost its way. I loved this series.
Gran Turismo subreddit, aka GT7 fanboys: "GT7 is da best GT game evar" Jalopnik made a horrible ranking that put all the PS3 games in last. The subreddit somehow agreed. I had people arguing with me trying to say that fucking GT5 Prologue is a better game than GT5 and GT6 while simultaneously saying GT7 is second to only GT4. It's like they've never actually played the other games. The flaws of all the old games don't detract from their overall quality. You can't tell me GT6 sucks because of easy races while defending all the crap wrong with GT7 and somehow say it's great. GT7's flaws literally keep it from being a good game.
Polyphony has unfortunately gone the way of Dice, EA, Blizzard, and Bethesda. No effort is put into the games and everyone is incompetent as to why things keep happening the way they do. GT fans better increase and heighten their expectations for GT8 or the next GT game, because they are in for a rude awakening when the the next game takes GT7s problems and cranks it up to 1000.
Nearly zero standing starts, no quaily, and STILL starting last nearly 45 seconds behind at the start of ever race. The only fun Tsukuba Circuit 600 or 500 race.
I mean lets be real Kaz's obsession with online play is a bit out of control. I mean the guy literally wanted to do it back in GT3. (Not GT4, GT3!) The series has unfortunately faced the consequences of it. At least they never fucked up the driving controls too bad because at this point its all Gran Turismo has going for it.
Single player is what really stopping gt7 for almost being an really perfect game, still a good game but single player could be much better and i hope that somethimg they learn with gt8 and with sophy included, it has been very clear that the focus is still a bit on esports that was kaz dream, but they are doing an amazing job with car models customazion, sounds and wheather
true, but it is so completely baffling that they couldnt make so more single player content! how hard can it be to make a handful of interesting and varied races and make sure that most cars has some kind of relevance to the game?
@@andersbjrnsen7203 That's really the only thing that I'm also super confused about. I get why a lot of the decisions Kaz made are what they are, I get why some people hate them.. But I do NOT get why they didn't make more races... Like... Some of the tracks barely have 4 races.. Wtf is that? Not just that, every week they make 3 damn races for sport mode.... Some of them have been super fun. Couldn't just get a single player event version of that? Ait... wtf... I feel bad for the single player folks. Multiplayer is pretty sweet imo. GT7 multiplayer in VR is my favorite racing experience of all time.
Gt7 truly feels like a virtual car showcase game rather than you know A RACING GAME. It has one of if not the best car models, psvr2 implementation (immersive af), and awesome simcade physics with near accurate track designs yet it gives you no reason to even care or try out any of the cars or tracks other than to serve as content for online multiplayer. It's clear that they were going for gt sport's heavy focus on online gameplay but with only 5 people working on the game🗿
GT4 is pretty much the first racing game I ever played back in 05. Of course I love it dearly but the first time I experienced the super car festival and just how unorthodox GT can be the taste never left, it actually perfectly sums up exactly how I feel about the franchise as a whole except for 5, 2, and 1 in that order being in my opinion the greatest. From The vision GT cars being a great addition imo but at the same time being a completely missed and underused opportunity to some cars just not even telling you the truth about their specs. When they dropped GT5 2.0 Christmas update it truly renewed my fate. I'm praying for GT7 2.0. Just like with the vision GT cars/ concepts cars I'd rather have them than not
Why didn't you mention that singleplayer is locked behind an always online connection? I do not care for any arguments mentioning the Offline patch of GTSport since 15 years from now the physical copy will be paperweight anyways as the PS4 servers will most likely be shut down. You do not retain the entire single player experience from the disc itself. Why is no one talking about this? Will this end up just like The Crew where people consume now and complain later?
The AI is the absolute worse offender for me... it is truly insulting. They are literally created with the purpose to SLOW you down and be an obstacle rather than a fun and challenging competition. The AI BREAKS AT THE APEX OF TURNS!!! Its hilarious baffling and immensely irritating at the same time. Here we have a game that through its tutorials tries to teach you how to drive and maximize your racing craft, how to take corners etc and then throws you into races with an AI that does the complete OPPOSITE of what the game preached... Its truly insulting. I wont even bother mentioning the lack of standing starts and a ton of other things that this good fellow already mention, but Kazunori feels like a man completely devoid of any decent design plan when he was creating this game... And yet you see time and time again were his team decides to spend resources... update after update you see the wasted budget money on Ambulances, Vans, Jeeps and some absolutely pathetic vehicles that nobody cares to spend 5 seconds with... unbelievable really...
I recommend trying the world championship again, but with a slightly underpowered berlinetta, it is suffering. I've done it, and it was difficult, and it was not even on the highest setting
The only explanation to me is some form of corporate sabotage. There are too many decisions in this game that are so mind bogglingly out of touch with both the sport of racing and game design I would be embarrassed to tell a fan of the series I had any part in working on it. Truly a shame because of how good the driving feels.
every update when they announce new cars i just get even more discouraged to play the game as i have no drive to make money when it takes a constant grind of frustration that just isnt worth my time to attain one single car that ill maybe drive once, i dont remember the last time ive enjoyed this game, its deeply depressing i wanted to enjoy this game so much more than i have
I totally agree with your viewpoint. Having played and own every version in the GT Series. This is the most disappointing one. For me it's even worse than the Sport version. I'm interested in cars not reaching online. The credit situation is ridiculous in it's limitations. I am deeply saddened by the almost purposeful destruction of what was a leading game changer. It was the leading driving sim game for menu years. I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. This video is greatly appreciated. Many thanks to you.
Right now I’d be elated if they just fixed the bugs. Some are silly. The little pilot lights on the 996 flicker. The ducktail on the 2.7 rs does nothing but is adjustable(!) on the 964. Some are serious. Engine noise still cuts out every now and then. Disastrous class. Steering freezes on the Stratos often, on the Shelby Mustang occasionally, on the Beetle with the engine swap often. Always on the same tracks in the same corners. It’s ridiculous. Check for yourself with cockpit view, which is also quite bad. Misc. There’s nothing to do for cars like the Renault r8, the Ferrari p4, the Alfa Zagato, the F1 1500, the Toyo 86 special ed. And the list goes on. Extra. The AI is rigged to prefer overpowered but unprepared cars over well prepared but underpowered cars. Online, everything is bopped or factory spec. So why do we have all those tuning facilities? If they can’t or won’t fix that, what am I here for? Classics are the reason I’m here at all. I’m biased like that, sure. GT claims to be biased too. By practice, they’re not. Who wants a Tesla or Honda Fit? Or the upcoming ambulance no one’s ever heard of. Anybody? I want those oldies that actually meant something but there’s not a lot of games on console for the vintage stuff. Can’t afford the full PC rig.
It should have been called GT Sport 2, players would have had an informed choice then. Instead we got a bait and switch game, hyped up to be a successor of the rich depth of existing titles, but no all we got was a game that catered for the esports participants, while the budget got siphoned off to a movie.
For those who watched (and mostly agreed with) my original GT Critique series, did you ever want to share it with someone but didn’t want to link them to a three and a half hour video they probably wouldn’t watch? Okay, I have an idea. Let's all start a go fund me and have remasters of the original 4 Gran Turismos
You're handheld through everything, GT7 is the embodiment of helicopter parenting you through a safe experience, so I'm fully on board with calling it a babyfied version of GT.

rule 1 of any visual media: show don't tell. And all that menu books do is TELL us about the cars in their lectures...
Gran Turismo has always been like that, but I’m not defending it.
you know they never force you to read the description of cars or upgrades in gt1-6 but when you re having fun with the game and want to know how to fix a certain behavior of the car or just have it like you want to you read the stuff and be thankful in gt7 nobody cares about the history of some shitboxes or upgrades since they dont make it better often only worse

I just wish we could have this game’s engine, with a gt 4, 5, or 6 structure.
At this point i believe that the PS1 and PS2 GT games were just an accident as to why they were good.
I don't know where PD are looking at feedback, but I really hope Kaz and the team see your video series. It's fantastic and shows just how brilliant GT7 could be...
Kaz never cared about the community
Nowhere...
@@RukaGoldheart long ago I saw it as passion and love for what he did. Now I realize it's just ego and snobness, and that we got lucky that GT1 to 4 where as good as they still are.
Kaz only cares about what he wants in Gran Turismo not the fans.
creative director/executive producer has to change. It would be so fun, having a career, starting on karts, getting professional, and add a manager type game on top of that. If you're used to fighting games' training mode, i really miss a sandbox type editor. More opportunities to go full bonkers on the game, and have fun like it's your own toy box.
*you either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain
Kaz doesn't care about making great GT anymore, he made his fame before PS3 era, now is just marketing tool for brands and eSports whil Kaz goes to forest and searches for butterflies
which is ironic, because Japanese automakers are known for designing an engine and then sticking with it until its near perfect... instead of developing a new one every few years... that and they're attention to precision is what makes their automobiles so reliable/durable.
this condenses my thoughts to a supernaturally concise and accurate degree
wow
Where as Gran Turismo can only release 3 or 4 because of its incredibly small team.
not only that but the fact that out of the low number of cars coming to the game monthly, half of them are either uselss, pathetic, or variants
Fair, clean and to the point, I like it!
They don’t care about criticism. They’re using the franchise to sell sponsorships. It’s all about the money.
The perfect video about GT7. Smart and straight to the point.
I aint reading allat
nah but seriously though, I havent even received or seen an invitation since like middle 2022 or whatever
I wish they added back the special stage route x race from gran turismo 6, it was fun speeding down the track with the bugatti veyron and you get a good amount of credits
I dont really care about the 2 weeks to get credits for sport mode
Single player is boring, I just end up playing multiplayer all the time (Unless I am tuning to make my car accelerate faster or get a higher top speed)
I dont get most of the cars that come with a update, but if they add back the lamborghini gallardo (including some variants), other porsche cars (gt2 and gt2 rs) and toyota gt-one race car then maybe I will consider buying
I would also buy the suzuki escudo but I think I missed out, probably takes 9 months for it to come back
Can't wait for the Toyota ambulance, thanks Kaz, really glad you assigned some resources to putting that in the game
In the meantime, have fun driving an ambulance.
@@drjk7565 I've been saying the same. GT7 is just GT Sport 2.
Same opinion here. I stopped playing GT7 three months ago so I missed a few updates but since the updates were pretty much all the same I didnt really bothered turning on my console for this. I was done with everything back in 2022. The cafe, the licenses, the driving missions and the circuit experience. All of these things I had done pretty fast and the only thing I theoreticly have to do is buying the three 24h Le Mans Winner cars to get the last trophy but since the cars are too expensive Im not going into the game farming credits for days only to get a trophy
I recently started playing GT4 again on PC and its a day-night difference.
I have a Logitech G29 wheel which only works on PS (PC as well but I don’t have one (yet…GT4 on PCsx2 here I come!!)
Anyway I love racing games because of the wheel..
But
GT Sport and GT7 are still my favs to play not because of content just because of driving style!
I just a copy GT3 A-Spec, I'm amazed by the fact that 20 years after I've first got the game, the latest sequel would leave people disappointed.
Couldn't have said any better.
But don't worry, an ambulance is coming into the game! 😅
My latest grievance with Gran Turismo 7 is the fact that out of any region the americans get way more exclusive content compared to any other region. Additionally some of that content seems to spit on the face of the rest of the player base. Since launch here is all the exclusive content that could be earned in GT7 and how you get it (I'm not including the Dior Mangusta since it can be bought by any player without some sort of pre-requisite):
Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Concept Stealth Model - Pre-Order bonus (available to everyone)
Toyota GR Yaris 'Nation Livery' - Purchase the 25th Anniversary Edition of Gran Turismo 7 (available to everyone)
Toyota Supra GT500 'Anti Social Social Club' - Code received when purchasing clothing (available to people who can actually get the clothes)
Mclaren F1 GTR 'Hagerty Driver's Club' - Code received with membership (America only)
Dallara SF19 'Red Bull' - Code received as part of Red Bull Capture Point (America only)
Red Bull X2019 '25th Anniversary' - Participate in the 25th Anniversary Event (available to everyone)
Porsche 917 K 'Hagerty Driver's Club' - Code received with membership (America only)
Porsche 959 'Dakar Rally' - Participate in the Porsche event (America Only)
Porsche 917 K '1970 Le Mans' - Participate in the Porsche event (America Only)
Porsche 911 RSR 'Pink Pig' - Participate in the Porsche event (America Only)
So if you're keeping track, American players of GT7 have the opportunity to get *two* versions of the Porsche 917 K a car that costs 18 million in-game.
I got banned on discord GT modding server for posting this. Shows how blind community could be.

The way the A.I. cars drive in Rally events is infuriating. Takes the thrill out of what should have been a fun race type
Let’s not forget the cult like fans that pretend this is the greatest Gran Turismo ever. They are keeping the lights on
I see this as, "this isn't Gran Turismo 7, it's Gran Turismo Sport 2".
I honestly don't think they care about anything but competitive people, and the rest of the game like the single player content, is just a means to try and get more people to play competitively.
The only hope is that they listen to you to make GT8, even a prologue with a few cars and a good campain would be great
They don't give a damn and never will.
Gran turismo has become a pokemon game since gt6

Awesome summary!
I think it's time for Kaz to be replaced.
If the hairpin at DeepForest didn't act as a redflag then idk what will.
It’s a shame the state of modern AAA gaming.
Quality is now the exception to the rule instead of the norm.
This is the first Gran Turismo game released in America that I have not bought. Sport was such a disappointment that I waited on this one. Glad I did. Just wish the franchise hadn't lost its way. I loved this series.

Gran Turismo subreddit, aka GT7 fanboys: "GT7 is da best GT game evar"
Jalopnik made a horrible ranking that put all the PS3 games in last.
Completely agree with you. Now let me go back to my GT4, cheers
Nearly zero standing starts, no quaily, and STILL starting last nearly 45 seconds behind at the start of ever race. The only fun Tsukuba Circuit 600 or 500 race.
Modern gaming for you.
They cannot grasp what made older games so great. Or they don't care.
I mean lets be real Kaz's obsession with online play is a bit out of control. I mean the guy literally wanted to do it back in GT3. (Not GT4, GT3!) The series has unfortunately faced the consequences of it. At least they never fucked up the driving controls too bad because at this point its all Gran Turismo has going for it.
tbf it wouldnt be unrealistic back then. Doom had online play 4 years before Gran Turismo even existed as a franchise.
@@64bitmodels66your right but I think Quake would be a better comparison as it was 3D with polygons
The best of all the arcade racers, The Gran Turismo series.
GT7 really plays more like a Prologue game than anything else.
Just like with the vision GT cars/ concepts cars I'd rather have them than not
I beat GT7s campaign within a week, give or take. I've been playing GT4 for a month and a half now, and I'm still only 50% done.
Your critiques are very interesting, I would love to see your opinions on other racing sims
Just about sums it up really
It just feels like a game that was haphazardly slapped together with Sony and kazs approval and subsequently discarded onto the next project.
Grand Turismo 6 was when Gran Turismo died. RIP
MAKE GT5 REMASTERED🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Maybe they shouldnt because of how you're acting
I'm having a blast paying it in VR with a sim rig. The game isn't flawless by any means, but it's so much more enjoyable with VR.
When is this Sophy Ai going to get released...
every update when they announce new cars i just get even more discouraged to play the game as i have no drive to make money when it takes a constant grind of frustration that just isnt worth my time to attain one single car that ill maybe drive once, i dont remember the last time ive enjoyed this game, its deeply depressing i wanted to enjoy this game so much more than i have
I totally agree with your viewpoint.
Couldn't agree more.
I love your frustration with this game 😅 but deep down, we all love the game.
Instead we got a bait and switch game, hyped up to be a successor of the rich depth of existing titles, but no all we got was a game that catered for the esports participants, while the budget got siphoned off to a movie.
mean while forza being like: that sucks man, heres a bunch of cars and features that you can unlock without a battlepass and with actual effort
