It's a shame that you have such a low amount of subscribers compared to these dumb kids who blog on UA-cam, who are pretender's, and claim to know cars. You're reviews are so much more elegant and informational. You understand cars much more, are a real car enthusiast, and actually know how to drive like you claim. Looking forward to more videos dude!
Thank you, I appreciate your kind words and hearing your comment encourages me to continue. With the time and effort it takes, sometimes I wonder if I should keep going. So thank you!
Hey! You remember the old saying; "You don't miss it until it's gone"-- This really applies to you. Your reviews are timely, succinct and professional. Glad to have you back!! p.s. I bought the new MX5 based on your review; I've been smiling ever since. D. Watts Kissimmee, FL
Keep doing the reviews. Your are among the most thoughtful and detailed on youtube. As a Lotus owner, I have to point out that the Evora 400 has hydraulic power steering.
An 05 Elise, which is stock apart from a track-focused alignment. As Andrew Frankel of MotorSport magazine said when reviewing the 570S last year: 'the steering is so good if you closed your eyes you'd think you were in a Lotus'.
In his review of the 570GT, Harris praised its handling and said its excellence was not a coincidence as Mclaren now employs a number of engineers who used to work at Lotus ...
350 bhp ? At the engine perhaps but by the time the power gets to the wheels I've heard it's down to about 290 ! If true then that is some serious reduction. When I test drove one I too felt it was quite sluggish & definitely not 350bhp. Quite underwhelmed. Great review. Best regards.
0:45 *The different drive modes are fine and necessary... because of all the different environments the car may be used on. There is no such thing as jumping in a car and having it "good" because good is subjective. If you're racing, soft suspensions aren't good enough, and if you are just commuting to the groceries, hard suspensions aren't comfortable at all. No good.*
Yes, but all the very best cars I've driven or owned recently have not needed any drive modes. The 991 GT3, GT4, etc. do not have drive modes. The sport button in the GT4 turns on rev match blips only, nothing else. The GT3 has a sport/sport plus button to sharpen throttle only. Does not change power level. They have a suspension stiff and soft, but I have never needed to stiffen, even on the track. The Miata for all of eternity, same thing. No buttons at all. Lotus Elise, same thing. All the best cars in history have not needed drive modes because they were not compromised to begin with. In my view, needing this is an acknowledgement of inherent compromise and the need to use technology to hide fundamental flaws.
Thank you good review! But, you didn’t have it in track mod with the suspension off and the traction on !!! Every thing comes alive!!! Sterling and throttle change!,,, The other things you were not on a road that like Santa Cruz Mountains twisters all day!!!! RS is the Bomb
Thanks Michael! I appreciate your comments on the RS. I do agree that I wish I could've driven it on some of the best roads in Cali. I'm sure it would've been amazing.
I mean what would you really rather have? A Focus RS for $50k or a Shelby GT350 for $60k (there are some in the high $40k's used now)??? GT350 NO BRAINER!!!
While i fully agree with you on a purely performance aspect, if you can only have ONE car for daily, family hauling, b-road blasting, and occasional track use, which one would you own?
pr0jectSkyneT I would never own only one car if I had a family. Most families have two cars anyways, so the whole "only 1 car" doesn't apply to me. I would rather buy a cheap 4 door under $5k, and use that if I had a family, and have the GT350 as the beast. Being single though, I would daily the GT350 no brainer. B-road and track use would also go to the GT350. And let's be honest, if you really only had one car to pick from, you would never pick the RS, because the car is way too small for a family anyways. It's literally a two seater with 4 doors, because the back seats, and trunk space, is hella small!
See that's my point. You asked why someone would get this over a GT350, i just gave you a scenario. While you may never own only one car, some don't have that luxury. Hence, why they would get one. While, you may think it's small, it is totally acceptable for a small family (1 child). See my point?
pr0jectSkyneT I see your point, but you point is invalid. It won't happen in your scenario. There ain't no small family out there that will go buy the RS due to only having 1 car, because the RS is $50k! If you can get a car for $50k, you can afford two cars.
Haha! Well, everyone has their opinion. You don't have to agree with mine. You're welcome to review the car yourself and talk about how much you love drive modes and how you think it feels 350hp, based on all your own experiences with 350+ horsepower cars.
Steven Jackson the focus rs traps 102-104 mph. Dont you think that is a little suspect from the claimed 350hp? where as the audi s3 traps 109 mph with a claimed 296 hp. both about the same weight. heck the new type r traps 108 mph with a claimed 306hp. he isnt the first guy to say that the rs feels slow for 350hp.
It's actually rated 345 in Europe, and thats on 95 RON. In the states, filling up with 91, it's probably closer to 320-330. If you want the last 20 horses you need to fill up with race gas, or get a tune.

Keep doing the reviews. Your are among the most thoughtful and detailed on youtube. As a Lotus owner, I have to point out that the Evora 400 has hydraulic power steering.
Thank you Craig! Lotus has always had the most magnificent steering feel, hydraulic or manual. Which Lotus do you have?
An 05 Elise, which is stock apart from a track-focused alignment. As Andrew Frankel of MotorSport magazine said when reviewing the 570S last year: 'the steering is so good if you closed your eyes you'd think you were in a Lotus'.
Exactly. Lotus is the benchmark, and now I'm curious about the 570S!
In his review of the 570GT, Harris praised its handling and said its excellence was not a coincidence as Mclaren now employs a number of engineers who used to work at Lotus ...
Amazing review man, I agree that it feels docile for 350 horse. Still an amazing platform
Thanks Alex! I agree with you!
Another great video. Keep up the quality work.
Thank you Brian! I appreciate it!
I’m considering buying a black ‘17, however the MPGs as a daily do concern me enough to not buy one, however it sure is a beautiful car.

Thank you! Glad I'm not the only one who felt the same way. There has been a few comments otherwise.
missed you!
Thanks Jan!

The spot in the minute 2:17 is the same on another focus RS crashed in drift mode!
Different city, the one that crashed was in New Jersey. This is in Vancouver BC.
Coftron My fault, thanks for the reply
yea i thought that too!!
cheers

Do you have any experience with the Golf GTI clubsport? How does this compare against that?
I think the Clubsport should be amazing but we don't get that in North America, so unfortunately I don't have any experience with it.
I like the front look, but from the side it looks like a plain old st.
That's a valid opinion. It is saved by that big rear wing though!

WeekEnd133 I bought one. I know a bunch of other owners who bought this car and use it as their only car.
yo this guy is the worst reviewer..... picking on drive modes? tf..... also ... "doesn't feel like 350hp" this guy needs a new job
