Corelli is my favorite for this aria (which probably shortened the life of his voice), but this performance by Calleja is also truly excellent. I very much like the way he interpreted "Era già figlio prima d'amarti", his enunciation was crystal-clear, and that was a great spinto last line.
I just booked seats to his Sydney performance on October 16 2020....will be great.

Sadly the Covid has fucked us up, I booked a ticket to Tristan und Isolde performance at Queensland performing at Center, 16th October, but due to the ongoing situation, they have canceled all performances for this year!

There will never be another Corelli [ that's no one's fault ]. Whatever happens as a result of the deterioration of singing ... no matter what Country ... no matter how far they try to go ( outside of Italy ) to praise Mozart / Beethoven / Wagner ...

No es un tenor para interpretar a Manrico. Buena voz, tiene condiciones..... pero cada voz de tenor tiene que ajustarse a sus roles adecuados. A ver si empezamos a tomarnos en serio, que aquello que pensaba (y hacía) por ejemplo Plácido Domingo, NO es recomendable..... Es decir: "Yo puedo cantarlo TODO, aunque lo baje un tono, o medio".
