Or use something like trasdata or ktag to read out the ECU dump in bootloader mode, and extract the ISN manually by looking at the flash/eeprom using a hex editor. This way, you could even do the OBD ISN extraction process and IF it bricks, you can restore it over again.
I,m so sorry it didn't work out as planned. I just want to say thank you for sharing all your information with all of us. It really sucks that it didn't work out and 3 DME's were bricked in the process but remember sometimes our failures are our greatest achievements for success 😁 Stay 💯 my friend👍
That's a big bummer guys! And while programming module you will need a power supply. I believe it has to be 13.7 Volts and minimum 40 Amps. An ex BMW mechanic in the UK has some videos about this . He is 'BMW Doctor Dean' at YT. Regards, Nico.
First last again. 😉 Brings back memories of the day I got my iPhone 4 I tried to jail break it. Bricked it for about 6 hours. Luckily it magically came back to life. 😀
I'm currently testing the VVDI2 and VVDI-Prog on an N64 CAS3++ ISTA/P (doing a downgrade) and a CGDI Tool as well. CGDI works for the downgrade to read the key data on the CAS but I have no working keys so I need to trick the system to turn on for programming modules and program keys. Any pointers?
I was able to get the ignition to turn on with the key and lock and unlock doors but no crank. May need to leave the key in the ignition a while with the car on. Idk
Hope you can figure things out! Another tool you could look into is ACDP. I’ve talked to them over WhatsApp and they do respond. The local Bmw dealership got one of these to unbrick frm modules as they were on back order for months. They offer modulated packages and licenses to let you code different things
I did look at the ACDP and it really had the most features out of everything. The reason i didnt go with it, was i was told its process doesnt work, those bricks can be a nightmare to fix. Arno said they all have issues and all brick modules but the vvdi is generally the easiest to recover a corrupt module. I think i have worked out how to do the MSD81 swap with out getting the ISN from the DME, so i might be in luck. Will try some safer programming in todays vid
Ahhhh we will get there. But it doesnt look like this tool will read the ISN from the DME, but i might be able to get it from the CAS in the e93 anyway.
Maybe Arno can answer, how do you communicate via CANBus if there is only 1 60ohm resistor? I thought the system requires 120ohm resistance to communicate properly🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️maybe it failed because of echo in the signal at 60 ohms?
@Zero To 60 So winkfp in expert mode is the go to unbrick? Retard me accidentally flashed an I8A0S bin with another device to my msd81 and it wont let me overwrite and either will mhd. I already know the required ZUSB, HW-NR, SW-NR etc to flash in expert mode. Not sure if it will get the job done. I know nothing about expert mode.
Hah, you dont want to know how often I bricked my MSD81 while trying out tools:D Luckily, as long as you can connect to the module, WinKFP can heal it by reflashing everything. When there goes something wrong with WinKFP however (for example bootloader fail) then good luck.
Had a great crash course on what things WinKFP can fix. Pretty amazing, but Arno was saying again some of the china flash tools you do need get the module out and solder on to them to get them working again
get an actual power supply, (cars) computers are not fond of voltage changes. all the stories about how finnicky exotic or high horsepower cars are is usually attributed to low battery voltage. think about how the cars computer has a table specifically to account for injector on-time according to voltage.
Please go and give Arno a follow on instagram. instagram.com/e90_shitbox/
The Steve carell insert was classic 🤣
I wish he was there, I really do.

Any chance to make a video on how to repair dme with winkfp?
Next video: How to unfu@k your DME. We all need this. 😀
1:50 pov you're Andrew's beard watching him about to make some bad decisions
Hahahahaha my beard sees some scary things….
You need a power supply. 13.5v +. it will always fail to write below 13v.
Hey @Zero To 60 can you show us how to unbrick the ECU with WinKFP? I did the exact same thing you did.
How did you go unbricking the DME? Similar issue.
I feel your pain. Flashing DMEs is stressful
Just happened to me on a CAS module- costed me a couple hours in the heat!! EEPROM is tough but easy to recover
Only thing I don’t miss about my bmw is that bmw heart ache 💔 that anxiety when u work on it 🤣 and the oil leaks

Thank you for following along. When we have a problem it gives us something to work out. And that’s where the value is.
That was the best closing line yet!!!!

BimTool 1.80 is out - maybe give it a try and vid the outcomes , if they learned / fixed this issue ?

Hi, friend. i have the same problem. how did you decide?
Get bmw explorer, thats what I use for coding the dme, copy the isn number and then put it in cas, after that synchronise and your good to go.
aw mate, that was hard to watch. you will figure it out like you always do and it will all be worth it!

@@ZeroTo60Tube Can you please tell me about the way of swapping MSD81 without getting the ISN from the DME?
Thanks in advance
My heart sank with yours when you bricked your 3rd dme. This car doesn’t have the mhd still installed when you flashed it, right?
This car is stock as a rock. Its the doner car from my dct swapped. We got the DME back to life thanks to Arno. We will get this worked out.
All in the name of science!!
So frustrating!! Fair play to you for having a crack

@@ZeroTo60Tube I hate working with modules on a car, even though I'm a software engineer it all goes over my head 😂
Ouch, that's rough! But hey, with these videos I'm sure you'll save someone else a lot of stress lol.
VVDI BRICKTOOL PRO, It always stresses everyone out when a upload fails partway through, I've been very lucky so far
Hahaha BRICKTOOL PRO!!!! Good one!!!
Ohhh man that is gold!
So when you unlock the dme it allows you to change more stuff around? Sorry for the dumb question
Basically it will allow me to put that DME in a different car.
Utterly fearless. Fair play for experimenting in the face of certain doom 😂
Thats a 10/10 thumbnail
Was that angle on the camera called "beard view"?
Great job
Try to reduce programing speed ( Options - Parameter settings - Programming speed 1 or 2 )

Communicates at 60 ohms! 120 in the circuit means something’s unplugged. There’s 2 terminating resistors on the bmw car
Scan full car, go to update ecu. Choose engine ecu. And reflash with same software
Do you think that will help bimtool to read isn?
@@ZeroTo60Tube this will only ecu recover
No risk no fun ;-) At least you've got some really exciting videos now :-)
Hey everything is fixable and that’s what makes it all worth while, will have an update on the situation soon.
Arno's instagram is not in the description?
:S How many things can i forget this week.
There is a guy Artur Gyum on Facebook N54 groups that would figure this out. Guy is an absolute genius
Love the face when you cocked something up, we all have a face we make when we cock something up lol

As a power supply, I use a CTEK PRO25S.
What is that batter charger?
Custom made from a server power supply. It out puts 100amps at 13.5volts.
