See this would actually be interesting because even within a chain, they have such a large variety. I personally know six flags food - it depends SO MUCH on which park you're at, on what day. Even within the brands inside the chain (Peppino's pizzaria, for example) won't be the same across different parks.
One of my favorites is the second launch on Velocicoaster. I think for me it’s because you expect a ride to lull in the second half, but that second launch really amps it up and makes the second half even more intense
@@ContentinMesa 45, so no. And that would be reading, by the way. The launch is on the weaker side, but it does what the ride needs it to do. What is supposed to do? Have a massively long launch that putters out by the end to have the slow speed for the hangtime moment? Or, maybe a real forceful one that brakes to slow you down afterward? It is what it needs to be for what follows. I see no problem with it.
@@patrickwagner6247actually the "powerful launch that brakes before the loop would be pretty cool. Someone should do that. Theme it to F1, or racing in general, and it's like being in a race. I like that idea.
I got lucky with my layover flight home from Japan stopping at LAX when Xcelerator re-opened late last year. Bolted to the park and waited for it to re-open, waited over an hour standing in line just for a chance to ride it. Not only did we get to ride it but they let us stay in our seats and ride it again before getting off. That launch is absolutely amazing. Well worth the wait. Lot of locals were getting out of line saying it was hopeless... I kept saying this would be my only chance to ride so I'm just going to wait. So glad I did. 😁
I rode stealth last year, all I can say is that the launch is an absolute powerhouse. The countdown when I rode it was also off so you would launch about 2 seconds after the initial “go go go” making it a little random too. One interesting thing though is that they actually allow you to raise your hands on the ride before the launch which I find crazy but in my opinion, it absolutely amplifies the launch but you are going to get stapled so hard afterwards from the pull up into the top hat that pulls so many gs. Overall an awesome ride.
I haven't been on that many launch coasters but the most powerful for me has to be powder keg. That thing launches fast and it has a really nice setting
The Ka launch was one of the most impressive ones I’ve experienced! The fact that it has multiple „stages“ in which it accelerates you is so impressive and unexpected at first time riding! Also gotta throw ring racer in here, that this was something else :)
My personal favorite launch is the front row of Kingda Ka because of the wind in your face & the intensity you get at the end of the launch, it's insane!
wife and i waited in line for 4 hrs to sit in the front row at top thrill dragster. went on that ride twice the one time we went. 100% bought the $20 picture after. amazing ride!!
*you talking about west coast racers* "the launch feels like your grandma finally getting a green light and going through the intersection" had me rolling 😂
Nice to see someone finally not hating on Helix's launches! Theres some amazing ones here in Europe, my favourites being Ride to Happiness, Taron's second launch, and Stealth!
I went to Cedar Point a couple weeks ago, and got a back row ride on Maverick. When we got to the 2nd launch, we didn’t slow down at all and I got very close to having a new soak city in my pants.
10:06 the only reason why i like this launch is the ride operators making it fun. One of them said "Do you want a countdown or a surprise?" and as the riders were about to say surprise they launched them out of the station lol
I’ll absolutely admit to being a sucker for good launches so I’m happy to see this list. You’re going to love Takabisha when you get to Fuji Q next year!
On my Cedar Point trip during this past Memorial Day week, I had a ride on Maverick that did not slow down for the mid course at all. It was an absolute gutpunch and will be a ride I will never forget
Hope one day ur able to come over to us and get on Stealth! Having it as my home coaster is great, but this makes me realise any new launch I experience I'm not gonna get a "WOW THAT'S INTENSE" moment...
I miss Volcano so much. But that backwards Guardians Of The Galaxy launch is insanely fun. Even my 67-year-old mother loved it, she said it felt like a tilt-a-whirl on a coaster track.
Great video. My favourite launched coaster is Taron , especially the second launch. F. L. Y. also has great launches. My least favourite is Rita. The launch is powerful but goes into a sharp right turn which is very headbangy due to the over the shoulder restraints.
I loved Stormrunner’s launch. It was my first truly “powerful” launch so I wasn’t prepared. So I was sitting normally slightly forward of tge seat and when it hit I slammed back and got a chiropractic crack that was just a bonus to start a great ride on. Loved it!
My favorite growing up was Tidal Wave at Six Flags Great America. Swarzkopf shuttle loops are so nostalgic for me because of it. So as an adult, Montezooma at Knott's is probably my favorite and I am looking forward to the park getting the ride back up and running. My current home park is Magic Mountain and I can see what you say about the launches there but I don't mind the way the one on West Coast Racers is. Everything about the ride is (at at least was) super smooth when I rode last year so it fits that it's not a force monster. Granted, to match the theming a bit better it should be more forceful, but I view it as a mid-range family thrill coaster so it does what I think it needs to. And Superman:Escape From Krypton is just fun to me and the launch is my favorite sound in the park.
I was curious what your opinion of Mr. Freeze, Flight of Fear, Italian Job Stunt Track, & Verbolten are. Mr. Freeze, in particular, holds a special place in my heart since it's the first launch I ever experienced.
Happy to see Matugani getting some recognition! It’s not a stat monster but it’s definitely much better that I thought it would be the first time I saw it. Will be getting some more rides this Sunday!
I’m so glad you mentioned powder keg. As a 6 year old-my wine could (finally) ride. I freaked a bit, and the photo shows me holding his forehead back. Momma instincts. ❤
Seeing Diamondback on here brought some memories back from riding Afterburner at the defunct Fun Spot park in Angola Indiana. Same ride, same launch but I remember getting back row rides where the ride would fling you down the first drop with some great pulling forces. It's a big load of nothing now but as a kid that launch was everything. iirc, Diamondback got some of Afterburner's spare parts after it was scrapped.
I got to ride xcelerator for the first time a few days after reopening after being there and seeing them test it earlier in the year (Ghost rider was also closed the first time I went so it was an overall fine but disapointing day). And it literally feels like you do all of the acceleration before you're even out of the station in the back row. It punches you in the gut so hard, one of the best momments on any coaster in the US in my opinion. And I had fast lane so I must've ridden it 15ish times and still never got used to it.
Maverick and Kingda Ka probably have my favorite launches. The launch tunnel on Maverick is insane, but the launch on Ka is just nuts. Stormrunner is another one that comes to mind, along with any impulse launch.
Yessss, I'm impressed there are still people that don't hate Blue Fire for no reason T-T It's **fun**, I don't know what their issue is with the thing.
Maybe it's nostalgia since I last rode it in 2007 and never made it back to Kings Dominion before they got rid of it (which I'll always hate myself for) but my favorite launch to this day is (or rather was) Volcano. That slow, rolling start and then BOOM, followed by that second vertical launch up through the "mountain" into that sidewinder, at 155 feet above the ground. Good stuff, sad that it's gone.
I respect your choices but can't agree on Diamond back. That launch is unique now given how little of them are left (and unrelated but that launch backwards in the front row with the airtime is legendary).
Xcellerator was the first launch coaster I have ridden and it still lives rent free in my head. Been on many good launch coasters since but that one still dominates my memories. And it’s been like 14 years since I rode it.
I lied, Xcellerator wasn’t my first launch. I forgot that Tidal Wave at 6 Flags Great America was my first launch coaster. Got to ride that a few times before they removed it for Batman way back when.
Ahh, Maverick. My favorite coaster at CP. Not the best, because of having Vengeance in the park, but my favorite. That tunnel launch is freaking great at night, in the front row.
The one launch that always seems to get me every time is the first one on Cheetah Hunt. It doesn't go that fast but it always gives me a good punch in the stomach in a way that no other launch seems to achieve. The Hulk is also really good and I felt it was more memorable than Velocicoaster for instance. Also those indoor coasters like Flight of Fear that launch right out of the station give me a sense of nervous anticipation watching them though maybe the experience of the launch itself isn't that forceful. Really want to go on a hydraulic launch coaster soon.
Kennywood's has a launch coaster--"Sky Rocket". It's a Premier Rides launch coaster . It starts out okay with a 0-50mpm in 3 seconds and I like it's hi-hat. The second half of the ride really fizzles out though.
I’ve actually had a very interesting experience regarding the final launch on Hagrid’s. So we exit the cave like normal but then we start to slow down by the moving breaks, but then when we are almost fully stopped… The launch kicks in! It was extremely powerful and is one of the greatest launches I’ve ever experienced!
The most powerful launch I've ever experienced on a coaster was on the now defunct Hypersonic XLC at Kings Dominion. While it was far from the best coaster I ever rode, the launch was unbelievably intense. Second to that one would have been TTD, and then Storm Runner. Kingda Ka had a powerful launch but the thing rattled so badly. I also miss Volcano at KD. I always liked Montezooma's Revenge at Knotts, old school but still a lot of fun. Never got to ride Xclerator as I moved out of state just before it opened.
As much as I loved the launch on Dragster, I found the 2nd and 3rd launches on TT2 to be just as enjoyable. The first is totally fine as well, but 2 and 3 are outstanding. For the second you're already going 74-ish and hit a boost launch backwards to over 100, not sure where else you can get a feeling quite like that. And for the third, you enter the launch going faster than all but a handful of roller coasters ever, and hit a strong boost. I know some of the zero-to-whatever launches have faster acceleration, but the feeling of already going ridiculously fast and then being either thrown forward or pinned back in your seat, I personally find it more thrilling.
Once again I have to shout out my home park Tripsdrill, the launch on Karacho is pretty much identical to TMNT Shellraiser, it even has the same slow heartline roll before the gutpunch of a launch
It's been a while since I've had the money to do a coaster trip, but I just got back from one to KD and BG Williamsburg First time riding Verbolten, even if the launch was slowed, it's still an incredible ride.
Yeah outside of becoming an astronaut or a carrier pilot there's not really any way to experience that sensation anymore 😅 I think electromagnetic technology will eventually gain the capability...or maybe S&S will try something again- Maxx Force seemed to be generally successful.
Stealth is up there with Xcelerator. It hits HARD. Surprised Velocicoaster wasn’t mentioned. The booster launches is one of my favorites. I was taken back by how much acceleration I felt since you hit the launch with so much speed.
I remember when I was younger me and my dad went to knotts on a weekday when it was supposed to rain. It never ended up raining and the longest line we had to wait for was maybe 5 minutes for ghostrider. We went xcelerator probably 25-30 times that day, best day of my life
Personally I think the rattle on Kingda Ka just adds to the intensity of the launch. It’s never been too bad to be uncomfortable in the front seat so it mostly just makes it feel like you are going way too fast which to me makes it more intense. Now if you are sitting anywhere outside the front car it definitely gets rough (which is why I almost never sit anywhere other than the front or row 2). As for TMNT, that launch definitely took me by surprise. I was not at all ready for how intense that launch was.
saw xcelerator on the worst part of the thumbnail and I clicked on this video expecting to have left a bad comment but after watching the video I think this is a really good list!
I haven’t been to too many parks, but I love dragster and mavericks launch. Wicked twister was fun too. Don’t like backlot stunt coaster at KI but I did like flight of fears
Maxx force is at my home park, and my girlfriend and I get the front row every time, cause it's the only place that's wide enough to be accessible. We've ridden it dozens of times but the launch never gets old!
What do you think of Voltrons beyond vertical launch? Do you want to try voltron? I rode it. Its just insane. Strong push in the beginning und then leads into hangtime. So weird, but really really good
If you like the shellraiser Launch, you have to try the Launch of Flucht von Novgoord in Hansapark. Its the same concept, but it launches from 8-9 mph to 62 mph in 1.4 secounds, in my opinion the strongest launch I ever expirenced
Maverick never stops in the tunnel? Genuinely asking. Is it a block? I haven't been on it since like its 2nd or 3rd year and I could have sworn it occasionally stopped in the tunnel, at least back then. I could just be misremembering.
Video Idea: The Best and Worst Inversions you've experienced. Could be based on forces, comfort, uniqueness of the element, etc. There's so much variety out there that I think that it would be interesting to hear your thoughts.
A couple I feel the need to mention. The launch on TRON Lightcycle Run at Magic Kingdom is surprisingly punchy. Outside of the theming of Guardians, I actually prefer Tron's launch. It's very forceful. The 2nd launch on Velocicoaster. My GAWD is it amazing. Incredibly forceful, and you can FEEL the speed as you ascend up that Top Hat. Thunderbird at Holiday World is also very very good
Love ur vids mate. Can u do some UK vids pls? Ik u havent experienced any of our rides yet, but i bet you could rank the best uk coasters and stuff. But if u cant fair enough. Love the channel!!!
I always wish I had gotten to ride Hypersonic XLC. Ive lived in Orange County my entire life and will be finally leaving for Missouri soon. So I rode Xcellerator when it first came out and remember what an “insane” experience it was. I could only imagine XLC, it used air pressure which is similar to hydraulic I suppose, but still seemed cool/unique. That and Volcano are two coasters I wish I had gotten to ride.
Luckily enough, Kings Island is my home park. Experiencing a shuttle launch on the Screamin’ Demon for the first time back in the day was so different than anything else, plus adding a loop. Tame by today’s standards. The same can be said for Flight of Fear, the first LIM launch (shared with Kings Dominion). The launch was the attraction. There were stories of the military looking at the LIM launch for aircraft carriers based on these coasters. Sadly, I missed out on chances the ride Top Fuel and Incredible Hulk. The only other launch I have ridden is Rock n Roller Coaster, which is the same style as FoF.
@@AirtimeThrills hmh. I really liked the launches. I thought they were pretty punchy. The 2nd one into the top hat was good. I thought if hagrids would make the honorable mentions then Velocicoaster would be too at least. I liked the Velocicoaster launch better, but maybe because I came into it not knowing what to expect and was amazed
Were is flug von novgorod at Hansa park? The launch is amazing! Gerstlauer eurofighter with a launch going from about 30 to 100 km/h in 1.4 seconds in pitch black. (19 to 62mph) It feels like you get kicked in the stomach and face. It's amazing!
Video idea: (it’s kinda complicated) rank up your top 10 parks based off where the coasters are in your rankings (basically where the parks’ top 6 or top 7 coasters average in your rankings)
Great list! Definitely want to try a lot more of those on your top list. I enjoy the launches on Mr. Freeze at Six Flags St. Louis and Powder Keg at SDC. I know there are much better launches out there, but still enjoy those.
I just rode Kinda Ka yesterday. Honestly, I didn't feel much of a rattle, but I did hear other riders talking about it. Probably the weakest launch I felt was Big Bear Mountain at Dollywood. But it's a family coaster, so it's not meant to be forceful. It was funny hearing kids screaming on it though.
Who cares about launch coasters when tomorrow's going to be the day I ride my 1st ever RMC! **RIP Lightning Rod's Launch. But I do really care about launch coasters**
Thunderbird deserves a mention for the good. Launching in the wing position is so awesome. And for the worst, even if it's made for kids it's Firechaser Express of what I've experienced. It's a cool ride but it doesn't need a launch.
On the matter of Diamond back, it does need a launch, because yes it starts very high, but it also has to be able to reach that same height at the the other side. And with momentum loss due to wriction and air resistance, it needs some additional power besides the drop.
In terms of my favourites, Stealth at my home park has a heavenly launch, probably one of the very best in the world. Rita at Alton Towers is also great, and Takabisha in Japan (which is a virtual clone of TMNT) has an amazing first launch as well. I've liked nearly all of the launches I've done, to be honest, and those that I didn't like so much were mainly just because it was a family coaster and meant to be a bit slower. In terms of my least-favourites, Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Bench is a weird case. It's a phenomenal ride, but those Mack launches are pretty weak.
Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast SFoT. I thought it was a decent sensation to launch backwards out of the station, through the tunnel and into the top hat face down.

I still miss the launch on Hypersonic XLC
Once again I have to shout out my home park Tripsdrill, the launch on Karacho is pretty much identical to TMNT Shellraiser, it even has the same slow heartline roll before the gutpunch of a launch
It's been a while since I've had the money to do a coaster trip, but I just got back from one to KD and BG Williamsburg
First time riding Verbolten, even if the launch was slowed, it's still an incredible ride.
I wish I had the chance to ride dododonpa. It looked absolutely insane. I can’t imagine going 0-112 in 1.6 seconds. S&S launches are something else.
Yeah outside of becoming an astronaut or a carrier pilot there's not really any way to experience that sensation anymore 😅
I think electromagnetic technology will eventually gain the capability...or maybe S&S will try something again- Maxx Force seemed to be generally successful.
Haha yeah the coasters dont really line up with the text
The Mr Freeze launches not at least being honorable mentions is criminal
I did have it on my list at first but took it off. good launch but that ride is all about the elements after
@@AirtimeThrills the fact that its major element, the top hat, was the first one ever built. That should give it more credit.
Yeaaah baby that's what I've been waiting for storm runner top 3 rides at hersey
Thunderbird deserves some credit.
You can feel the momentum those heavy wing coaster trains carry.
My favourite is Superman Escape, but today I’m getting on Furius Baco and Red Force so let’s hope they’re good!
Red Force is immense… enjoy it! Furious Baco will beat you up though 😂
Happy Father’s Day my favorite coaster UA-camr heading to sea world and universal rite now just existing South Carolina can’t wait for pipeline
A very underrated launch is probably big dipper at luna park Sydney, it does its job and really packs a punch
That rolling launch does really pack a punch. Probably not top 10 worthy but definitely awesome
I do have a video on best inversions, and i have a video about best and worst elements, i think that covers the topic pretty well
A couple I feel the need to mention.
Thunderbird at Holiday World is also very very good
Haven’t watched and I already know Mack is going to be on here lol
Love ur vids mate. Can u do some UK vids pls? Ik u havent experienced any of our rides yet, but i bet you could rank the best uk coasters and stuff. But if u cant fair enough. Love the channel!!!
I am planning to do Alton by the numbers at some point
I always wish I had gotten to ride Hypersonic XLC. Ive lived in Orange County my entire life and will be finally leaving for Missouri soon. So I rode Xcellerator when it first came out and remember what an “insane” experience it was. I could only imagine XLC, it used air pressure which is similar to hydraulic I suppose, but still seemed cool/unique. That and Volcano are two coasters I wish I had gotten to ride.
Just rode xcelorator yesterday. That launch is more powerful than a rocket
Right before it launched, I got the whole train to say "gotta blast" 😂😂 my mouth was so dry after that
Luckily enough, Kings Island is my home park.
I’m surprised Velocicoaster launch didn’t make the list. Much less even make honorable mentions!
I’m saying.
Great overall ride. The launches though werent too memorable
I’m surprised pantheon didn’t make the list since it does what everyone wanted copperhead strike to do with that speed hill on the swing launch
@@HollywoodandWine101 Pantheon is a great coaster. 😄
Agree on WCR- that second launch snaps my head back and then does nothing. Seems like they could reprogram that to be a lot better
Great list, idk if you've been on this one but I'd consider Rita at Alton Towers to be almost, if not as good as Xcelerator's launch!
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
Thunderbird deserves a mention for the good. Launching in the wing position is so awesome. And for the worst, even if it's made for kids it's Firechaser Express of what I've experienced. It's a cool ride but it doesn't need a launch.
Firechaser i get. But to me thats not even a launch, just aggressive drive tires
On the matter of Diamond back, it does need a launch, because yes it starts very high, but it also has to be able to reach that same height at the the other side. And with momentum loss due to wriction and air resistance, it needs some additional power besides the drop.
The final launch on Pantheon is extremely intense and you get some forceful ejector if you ride in the back row!
"In 1977, the launch coaster was born"
Bowls of Joy: Am I a joke to you?
Yes
Maverick in my opinion has the best launch out of the few launch coasters I’ve written so far It’s forceful and intense
Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast SFoT. I thought it was a decent sensation to launch backwards out of the station, through the tunnel and into the top hat face down.
I haven’t rode a ton of launches. But glad to see I’ve been on three of the good (Dragster, Maverick, Powder Keg).
