This kinda reminds me of the opium addiction era in china and then they burned it all in the center of the town to get rid of the addiction, and literally the whole town got super high (hence the purple fog in this song)
Squiddy Productions ; This song is about Gumi who is annoyed by people getting drunk and doing immoral stuff because it's screwing up future generations. Perhaps the purple fog really does resemble opium and whatnot, but it could also represent ignorance?
Dacia Gumbrecht i dont know, it doesnt really have a judging tone to it, its more like she just observes the happenings rather than actively judging it. More importantly she seems to enjoy it herself actually, but with the ambivalence of morals at hand
Found so many awesome vocaloids from Proseka. I only knew Deco27. I don't about top 5. For vocaloid you need a top 1000 and in no particular order. There are so many. Is this better or worse than Tokugawa Noodles? How do you compare? Completely different songs. What about Rolling Girl? Hard to compare.
It’s extremely wild to me that people are just now getting into vocaloid (got into it in 2009), especially bangers like tokio funka, through proseka. Not sure how I feel about it but I’m so glad many more people can enjoy the music now at least ^_^
@@danii1. I live in America. I tell people about Vocaloid and they don't even know such a thing exists. I show them video of Hatsune Miku performing live.
Doing some background history research this song really shows how dark of a time the Edo Period in Japan was. A whole knew meaning to this song after know this!
If well-tuned, I think she actually does. The only thing I hate of her is when somebody makes she sing very high pitched notes and... Gumi is one of worst vocaloids for very high pitched notes in my opinion.
*Tokio funka is one of the songs that made me meet vocaloid, and Gumi, the best vocaloid ever, of course. This song has such awesome rhythm and tuning for her, not to mention the MV! It’s incredibly pretty aswell with the art being mysterious, and it’s still one of my favorite songs ever* *I came back here because two characters from a game I really like covered it, and it reminded me of a how much I loved this song back then! Which…by back then I mean 3-4 years ago- so not a lot, still, props to this song!*
This is a great song; it has a unique and catchy fusion of traditional Japanese music and electronic dubstep, and it has rather convincing rap pieces for a synthesizer.
Things I learned from this song: 1. Techno and enka make for an amazing combination. 2. Dubai isn't the only place with a thing for pointless oversized towers. 3. Gumi could look sexy in a garbage bag. UPDATED!: 4. None of the _good_ Vocaloid songs get to be in MMD Cup. Eazy Dance is looking more and more like a fluke.
I'm late, but Hakkenden: Eight Dogs of the East is a good one that's... Well, I can't really tell what era it is, sometimes it looks modern, sometimes it looks really old and sometimes it looks traditional, but it's still a good watch.
If anyone is still curious.. The twelve episode anime Mononoke has a few themes similar to this (plus a pretty kickass amv someone made with this song ngl-)
“The establishment of the Tokugawa order did not happen without protest among the samurai themselves and without the appearance of opposition groups, among which the kabukimono provide a most interesting occurrence- very much like the British “punk” phenomenon of the seventies and early eighties… The verb kabuku, used since the middle ages with the meaning of “to slant,” or “to tilt,” had acquired, by the beginning of the Tokugawa era, a slang usage for any anti-establishment action that defied the conventions and the proper rules of behavior. The kabukimono were therefore people who expressed their anti-conformism through a series of protests against the established order, which ranged from high unusual ways of dressing to shocking hairdos and extravagantly decorated, enormous swords… To the Tokugawa regime kabuki meant subversion and heresy, something immoral and dangerous…” Benito Orlotani, “The Japanese Theatre: From Shamanistic Ritual to Contemporary Pluralism”
I got this song stuck in my head like, since last year. And here I am, making the very same song stuck in my head again.. I just can't help it. The song is much epic. And I like oriental music so much~!!!! And here it was mixed with modern music AHHHH eargasm
I agree, some of the music sections seemed to he perfect for an Okami boss battle and I always pictured Rao sounding kind of like how Gumi is sounding in this.
Another song that would be cool to have on a Vocaloid dancing game. You reading this game developers? I would be willing to buy a game that let' me dance to vocaloid, now make it! Seriously I should get a Kick-starter or something for that...
Back to Black Except its a Crypton Vocaloid only game and since Gumi is Internet Co. She wouldn't be in it. Plus Project Diva is a rhythm game and not a actual dancing game.
Gumi reminds me of a Nurarihyon in the Hyakki Yagyō with all those demons behind her, and the way she dissapears when the sun rises (At least I think the sun rose, things got brighter). I wonder if that was the inspiration? Really awesome song!
mind. fucking. blown. gosh this is fucking perfect. I love the way the producer incorporated the modern party-music touch to this and the techno-styled bridge.
Damnnn this song has been out for 7 years and I'm just discovering it cuz of project Sekai. What tf have I been missing all these years wish I knew about it when it first came out
This is sooo good. My favourite song I've ever heard in the course of my life so far I think. I kinda want to see this in an anime as an op or even just set to some kind of awesome fight scene or something. It just gets you so pumped.
Okay I enjoy vocaloid songs and all, but this is the first one I've heard where I literally cannot tell that it's not a person recorded singing it o.o This whole song is just magical.

Dacia Gumbrecht 1. Thats looking to far into it.
2. Originally it wasn't a gumi song i don't think.
Abstract Otaku It’s a gumi original
Irony, I love it.
Dacia Gumbrecht i dont know, it doesnt really have a judging tone to it, its more like she just observes the happenings rather than actively judging it.

I love this song so much a mix of traditional Japanese music and dubstep
Though there are a lot more ingredients there than those two!
Irene Gamer Try listening to YoiYoi Kokon;)
It's actually Chinese.
yeah, because we all know its "Bejing funka" not "Tokio funka" like the name says XD
@@AmandaDixson I dunno the shamisen and the very obvious japanese drum stile tell me otherwise.
returning here after many years to say I'm very glad this is getting put into project sekai T_T

Mabel Pines
You're mabel Pines. You're already cool as shit. You could say you're on the same level as gumi
noone can be as cool as gumi is in this song
The best vocaloid.. She is perfect for all kind of music..
Like rap/enka/techno and pop! XD
I dunno, man, there are lots of songs where Gumi's just not suitable for (saying this as a Gumi fan)
@@aisekrem3216 yeah but Gumi goes well with many than others

Watching this video makes me wonder, how much of time and effort the artist put in this video and what talent that artist has..
The scenery probably took awhile, But Gumi is just a static figure, so it wouldn't be that hard to animate her mouth
Takamatt is the Peter Gabriel of Vocaloid videos. Pretty much everything he does is grand and colorful and memorable. Can't recommend him enough.
I love the mix of traditional Japanese music and modern music in this song! It gives it that extra flare and makes it more unique :)
Makes it sound like it came out of a really cool anime.
LukatheRageKitty I know right! :)
BlueButterfly I'd love to know if there is a term for this kind of mash up of modern and traditional
Need more of this stuff
Sennith Indeed! :3
BlueButterfly pssst listen to MASA-P they have a UA-cam channel and make creepy Japanese music with modern beats and traditional styles!
you know those songs that just make you feel super-cool. this is one of them
Im now the cool kid. Cos i just knew of it in 2021

Honestly Gumi is one of my favorite vocaloids.

Yes

+Hatsune miku not mortal kombat. but skullgirls would fit her perfectly
+Hatsune miku YESH PLZ
+Hatsune miku also include kagamine rin because of all her dark songs XD

Samurai Jack has very similar aesthetics.
Samurai Champloo, Memoirs of a demon Hunter girl
