Tortz reminds me so much of my late father. He was also hard task master, but a fair coach. He made no bones about it, and wanted only the best for the team. He also stuck to his principles and morals 100%.
Even as a Bruins fan, but more importantly, a fan of hockey, it's great to see Tortz simply telling it like it is. There's no BS, and if players don't want to make the effort to put everything on the line every single time they step out on that ice, then they are just a boat anchor holding back your entire team.

Torts lasted one year in Vancouver. He took a team that went to the SC finals two years prior and didn't make the playoffs his one season as coach. Good for Torts to say he’s going to continue to demand the most of each player. Ask Vinny Lecavalier & Brad Richards. The reason Torts has more leeway in Columbus is due to the fact of its unique issues as a small market team. Players don’t wish to play there. It’s not a traditional market.

Laine wont stay in Columbus for a long time🙁
"Blue Jackets star forward Patrik Laine was benched during Monday’s win over Carolina because he “verbally disrespected” a member of the coaching staff, a source told The Athletic on Tuesday.
Laine didn’t play for the final 26:19, missing the entire third period in a tight game, but it wasn’t the result of his repeated defensive miscues.
Neither Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen nor coach John Tortorella would comment when reached by The Athletic. Laine’s agents, Mike Liut and Andy Scott, did not respond to requests for comment.
The Columbus Dispatch was the first to report Laine’s flare-up with a coach.
It’s unclear which coach had the interaction with Laine or if it was a single interaction or a series of events. Brad Larsen coaches the Blue Jackets’ forwards, while Brad Shaw coaches the defensemen. Those two, along with Tortorella, are on the bench during..."

All this editing and post production work for an interview that'll get 10k views. Wayyyy over the top.

Of course Laine is going to have fun, he scores goals and Columbus wins. Everyone's going to have fun, coach Tortorella, the team, Columbus fans, we're all going to have fun! What about you?

It is so refreshing to have a character like Tortorella in the NHL. I miss that. Everything is empty rhetoric. Loved the Brett Hull types.
I remember him saying ... paraphrasing..."I I was in the stands watching a game today, I would fall asleep" referring to the clutch, grab, neutral zone trap days.
    Tell it like it is.

Cool. Now ask Torts why he couldn't be bothered to run practice when he was coaching the Canucks.

Maybe Sportsnet should just try to be more like TSN instead of weirding everybody out all the time. So many of their executive decisions (starting with Stroumboulopoulos when they bought the NHL rights) are just plain silly.

I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think this is gonna well, and I think it’s more about laine based on what we know about him than torts
