Greetings from Arizona. I've been following Monahan since he was playing for Calgary Flames till he got traded to the Habs, and I just currently found this out via Instagram, and I couldn't be more happier. Time flies, and I hope the best he's a talented player.
Love this behind the scenes look at all that goes into transitioning to a new team. It really humanizes the process of a trade and what it does to a player. Great work Winnipeg Jets crew!
I’m so happy for you Sean. We miss you here in Montréal. You guys are lucky to have him. We totally understand why he was traded. We just wished he could have stayed longer. ❤
crazy how this guy became my favourite hockey player with playing only one season for the Canadiens. I'm going to be a fan even if he's sittin on Jets bench now. Go Sean!
Gloves are the most personal thing a player wears, and the most critical piece of personalized equipment to get replaced quickly when being traded to a new team. All NHL teams keep stock of pretty much every pants and helmet models in every size, so those are usually very easy to get ready and hung up for the incoming player, although some players hate breaking in new pants mid-season and instead opt for wearing a pant shell over their old team's pants.
This is actually a decent video. Its good that the coaches have realistic expectations with this guys coming in mid season knowing they gotta flush some old habits while keeping their core play.
such a great video! I loved hearing about nerves and players actively trying to make new guys a part of the group. it seems like he'll be OK as a jet ❤
Believe it or not I was I at his first NHL game as a jet, in the Canada life center. I didn’t even know this was his first game there until now. Go Jets Go!
Seeing these behind the scenes aspects of being an NHL hockey player is amazing. I was always curious and ty for doing these. Is this a a Sara Orleski idea?
@CP4Z167 All NHL teams keep stock of pretty much every helmet model in every size and in the team colours they wear, so there really isn't a need for a newly traded player to bring their old team's helmets with them. The equipment staff from the old team contact the equipment staff for the player's new team and send them all the relevant equipment specs for that incoming player before the player even arrives in their new city. Same goes for the pants, assuming the player is ok breaking in a new set of pants mid-season. If not, they will just get a pant shell ready to cover the old team's pants. If the incoming player uses a girdle instead of pants, they will just get a proper fitting pant shell that is compatible with that girdle model ready. The most challenging piece of equipment for a new incoming player to get replaced are the gloves. All NHL teams keep a limited generic team stock of the more commonly used pro glove models in every brand in their team colours that they can quickly give to the new player just to get them by until their preferred custom gloves arrive from the factory. Some players don't customize their gloves so they are much easier to get resolved quickly, whereas those who have more personalized customizations built into their gloves have to wait until the factory builds and ships them over in the new team's colours. All other equipment a player wears like skates, shin pads, elbow pads, shoulder pads, and jock all stay the same and are brought over with the player from the old team, including the player's old team's bag, which eventually just gets shipped back to their old team after it's been replaced with the new team's bag.
@@tonyk501 I see I didn’t know that, I thought some guys might be superstitious and wear the exact same helmet they had their entire career. For example, Malkin and Ekholm wear pretty old school Bauer helmets. So if they get traded, their new teams likely have unworn helmets with exact same specs in their storage ?
@@CP4Z167 Correct. Unworn helmets with the exact same model specs in storage. At most, a player may decide to bring their old team's white "road" helmet with them and just have the stickers on them changed. The colour stickers on the helmet's visor would also get changed, or a new visor of the exact same specs would be installed. Malkin and Ekholm both wear the old Bauer 4500 helmet, which is still worn by many NHLers like Marchessault, Duchene, Cogliano, etc.
@@tonyk501wow just did a quick super surprised to see quite a few players still wear the 4500....another fun fact, looks like Letang might be the only one still wearing the Bauer 7500. Still one of my favorite helmet designs of all time lol
If he stays with the Jets, great for the Jets. If he should happen to go back to the Habs, great for the Habs. We'll see. He makes teams better for having him on the roster.
This is one of the best pieces of content ever put out by an NHL franchise. Take a bow Jets!
He's already improved our PP and he wins face offs.
Go Jets Go!!!!
Happy to have him on the team, hopefully he likes it here and will think about sticking around.
Lmao who wants to live in Whiny Peg
Not happening 😂
If we have the cap I think the Jets should. He is an elite player and is playing really well this year for us.
Nobody wants to be in Winnipeg 😆

Killed it with the production
crazy how this guy became my favourite hockey player with playing only one season for the Canadiens. I'm going to be a fan even if he's sittin on Jets bench now. Go Sean!
"I'm sean" humble enough to not assume everyone knows him
One of my favorite Habs in recent years. Wish him nothing but success!
Many thanks for your time in Montreal! Winnipeg is lucky to have you!
This is a great video. Wished more teams would do this

I know the fans miss him in Winnipeg already. Short stent here but we loved him. And we miss Dilly too.

I was sad to see you go Sean, but seeing you have a chance at a Cup is something that will last a lifetime!

We’ll miss him in Montréal 🙃
As a die hard Habs fan, I was very sorry to see him go. The return for him was good, but his skill sets will be missed in Montreal.

We miss him :(
Really hoping u like if here. Monahan your a key piece! Now Let's win a cup!
Always thought they brought their old helmets and just changed the colors, I guess teams provide new ones with similar spec’s nowadays?
