Jason is there is an award for firefighter of the year in Kentucky, you and your department deserve it. IDK how you stayed calm and cool over the radio with a tornado bearing down on you like that...
Jason, thanks for all that you and the members in your department do to protect the folks of your community. Especially times like these, as we see in the video, being out there in the field can be dangerous. Thanks from all the way out here in Hawaii.
my friend here in East Tennessee last april we had several tornado's touch down , one split into 2 funnels about 1000 yards behind my home , and went about 500 yards by me on each side , very scary , but after it came through , I left in my tow truck to check on family , and friends , the next tornado I encountered I was running from like you were , very scary in a 10,000 lb truck on curvy roads , I am glad you also had an angel along for the ride to protect you ! best of luck getting rebuilt !
towrecker sent me over. I thank God you guys are ok. My family and I will do what we can to help. Our town was battered by a huge long track tornado last year as well. It left a path of destruction somewhere around 50-60 miles long. Somewhere around 20 ppl dead and thousands of homes and business damaged and even swept completely away. It takes the hand of God to protect one from a force like that. That tornado skated by about a mile from my house. I will never forget that devastation.
Watching these videos makes it seem that we're right there with you. Being new into the law enforcement field I dread the day I have to venture out in this kind of weather. Stay safe out there.!
Great series. Awesome light setup, too. I am sorry about what happened to Engine 8563, the '83 Spartan. Spartan now has some awesome new engines, and they also recently invented a 138' Articulated Latter. 138 FEET! Here in Irondequoit, NY, there are 5 fire districts, and I can tell you about them in a Personal Message.
While hunkered down here in Louisville, I was watching our local TV coverage from WAVE 3, heard them say that the twin twisters where now across the Ohio river. Just a few minutes after that, we heard the say that that a fire station had been destroyed. Guess that was you guy. Great work spotting man! You guys efforts save many lives I'm sure.
Ah cool that makes sense. Thanks for your service! I've always wanted to go into firefighting but haven't been able to get near fit enough to pursue it.
Jason -- have to give you and your colleagues credit for keeping you calm during this worst case scenario. If this happened in another part of the country, the officers would be screaming on the radio. Professional volunteers -- that's what y'all are! Lou
As far as I'm concerned, you, sir earned your entire years pay by this part of the video. You earned my respect, sir. Not that I know, or anything, but you can't chase these puppies when you're high. You could end up naked at a Shoney's, or something.
Jason, You're awesome. I would shit my pants if I knew that a tornado would hit one of my stations and destroy equipment, especially if I'm a chief in a non-taxing area. Keep going strong guys!
Glad you and all your crew are safe with that close call at station 2 with your member! At Least it can be rebuilt and no one was hurt! Stay safe from Canada!
So do fire departments usually go out during tornados? Usually I think ours summon all volunteers before the storm and just sit in the station until it's done.
Mainly our local police departments do but alot of volunteer firefighters have to make that decision them selves I always do since I signed up to protect and serve the public you don't get to pick and choose how you serve them if you are free at that time you respond to any calls that come through
Amazing video and coverage of the tornado and it's nice that everyone had there eye to the sky while it touched Down and lifted. I'm not no storm chaser but it looks like to me that storm was a Super Cell which means it can constantly put down tornadoes.. Again (8501) excellent coverage
LOL!! "I always wanted to be a stormchaser...till now @9:05" Sorry, but that got me laughing. Good videos Jason. I hope you guys get back up and running soon
Crazy stuff, Was tracking the tornado's near Henryville when CNN mentioned Milton had got hit, Glad everyone is ok and that it only took out property and not lifes.. just curious how much will it cost to replace the fish fryer?
I'm sorry to hear about your station, I'm up in Connecticut and I know I won't much help, but in a couple of weeks or so I will some money down. I'll try and get some money from my department as well.
I know that feeling when the debris is falling around you, been there myself a couple of times when storm chasing. I know it didn't feel so good for you with all those trees around you, especially when they block the view of the tornado.
In the plains states would be fun... In this video and other places I have been absolutely too dangerous. I did it for almost 15 years in the Knoxville TN area... North to Kentucky state line
Wow. In Wisconsin I believe State Patrol dispatch only covers the state troopers, and the county and/or city/county combo dispatch centers dispatch police/fire/EMS.
@beleafer81 Tornadoes occur most frequently in spring. It's rare to have such a massive outbreak early in March, but it happens occasionally. Tornadoes occur most frequently in April and May.
But . . but . . but . . you're not supposed to run away from a tornado. Yeah right. There is no way this gentleman was going to get out of his car/truck and lie in a ditch, when he's in a vehicle that could possibly get away from the tornado. I know it's his job to be a storm spotter in this situation, but even if he wasn't emergency personnel, he was NOT getting out of that car/truck.
...SAY WHAT? I thought our county was bad off, but after seeing these videos, what you guys do, and what kind of a county you all had, that just disgusts me. Why don't they tax? It just doesn't make sense for me. I'd rather pay a few bucks more to have a fire service than to rely on someone farther away to get there..
Jason is there is an award for firefighter of the year in Kentucky, you and your department deserve it. IDK how you stayed calm and cool over the radio with a tornado bearing down on you like that...
We all had to try and stay calm, panic only makes the outcome worse.
Jason, thanks for all that you and the members in your department do to protect the folks of your community. Especially times like these, as we see in the video, being out there in the field can be dangerous. Thanks from all the way out here in Hawaii.

Jason, thanks for posting these videos. Training video's on WHAT TO DO when things go wrong.

Yes, it is up and running. There is a video of it on here somewhere.
As far as I'm concerned, you, sir earned your entire years pay by this part of the video. You earned my respect, sir. Not that I know, or anything, but you can't chase these puppies when you're high. You could end up naked at a Shoney's, or something.

Each department does things different. Our members go to the stations and I will usually go out and attempt to help notify the public like I did here.
Glad you and all your crew are safe with that close call at station 2 with your member! At Least it can be rebuilt and no one was hurt! Stay safe from Canada!

Tri-Co Fire Photographer it stayed on the ground, and yes it was a supercell
This is in Ky. I wish title had included. Luckily someone commented it. All my family on mom's side live in Ky. Hope all are safe.
That’s a hell of a road to try to escape ANYTHING FROM on!
@rescue1107 It is completly gone, as well as our Pumper/Tanker and fish fry trailer.
I love ur videos jason
You have all those hills and hollers down there that makes it hard to spot twisters. Up here in NE Indiana its so flat you can see one for miles away.
nice 2 know there is ppl still care 4 us :) great job jason
what vehicle you using in this video?
LOL!! "I always wanted to be a stormchaser...till now @9:05"
Sorry, but that got me laughing. Good videos Jason. I hope you guys get back up and running soon

what do you use for a dash cam? im thinking about making some pov response videos
We are dispatched by the Kentucky State Police Post 5 in Campbellsburg. They dispatch for 52 agencies in 6 counties.

I'm sorry to hear about your station, I'm up in Connecticut and I know I won't much help, but in a couple of weeks or so I will some money down. I'll try and get some money from my department as well.
Oh, that was the state highway workers for the county.
Yes, hard to see from the camera but there was debris flying all around it.
@SterlingSilver18 I have no idea how I did not blow the engine trying to get out of the way. It was on my bumper the entire time.
I wish, I could have used it!
What kind of car are you in
where were the guys you were talking to from?
did yall get a new station 2 yt
@nunor91 Joyce Mill Rd, about 4 miles north west of the station
That is the State Highway garage in Bedford
I know that feeling when the debris is falling around you, been there myself a couple of times when storm chasing. I know it didn't feel so good for you with all those trees around you, especially when they block the view of the tornado.
All Volunteer, donation only based department. We operate off donations.
Do you guys have Ford Explorers?
oh thanks Jason
@MikeyU93 Firefighter Andrew Stark, he was inside when the tornado hit.
Did he die?
@beleafer81
Most tornadoes occur in the spring with the changing seasons..This is a little early but not unheard of...
Did dispatch walk over 8402 at the 2:02 mark (getting a bit chatty)?
"I've always wanted to be a storm chaser" LOL
In the plains states would be fun... In this video and other places I have been absolutely too dangerous.
I did it for almost 15 years in the Knoxville TN area... North to Kentucky state line
how bad did the station get hit jason?
Wow. In Wisconsin I believe State Patrol dispatch only covers the state troopers, and the county and/or city/county combo dispatch centers dispatch police/fire/EMS.

this comment didnt age well 😭
Was that the sheriff in that white unmarked Explorer with blue lights?
what was at 3:17 when you made a u-turn?
@Cbluboi01 Thanks
Why does nobody pull over? I saw like 3 people that did.
@JASON8502 I'm a volunteer firefighter here on the Big Island.
It's going.........We just got our budget from the county cut in half on top of all of this so we will see how we survive.
Im guessing that's a county dispatch, Sheriff's Department?
8500 is the Station itself, so either Station 1 or 2.
Yes
Looks like a good deer hunting area! Bad visibility in those hollers.
are yall a paid dept. or volunteer
+jonathan upton All Volunteer
Station # 1
Where was that at 12:50?
@Rekendo0661 Thanks
At 9:40 seems to be when Station 2 was being hit (or was about to be hit) by the tornado
If you hold a game controller it's like you're playing a driving game.
Especially since the county just took what funding we had away from us three months after the tornado!! We may be history soon.
the part where you pulled in a lot and they were all standing outside and you asked if they could get a crew together to go help out Station 2
Who was 516?
I swore it sounded like a super charger with all that whining coming from your engine
Yep
Aren't you nervous?
great video but err wheres da tornado
Who is 8500?
@808514 I lived in Hawaii for a few years.
@greenbaygpg The tornado

But . . but . . but . . you're not supposed to run away from a tornado.
Yeah right.
