Since uploading this episode it has been bought to my attention that the newer models of The Banshee do have 2 doors - I forgot to mention that mine is quite an old model. Hope you still enjoy this comparison video, though!
Summit Or Nothing you need o set the banshee back up to how you use it and pack it away then you find that you will cut half the time set up I. Half bro... I have a 300 Used it 35-40 times set up time max is 5 mins lol banshee life swear by that tent luvit

After watching this I really appreciate the upgrades of the banshee pro 200. 2 loops for a lamp, two doors one either side as you said, a zip up access port for muddy boots that also has mesh for extra air flow. If needed. I think it's a little longer actually but can't be certain.
I did look at the Vango Banshee, especially due to the weight but ended up with an even less weight tent in the end. After watching the whole video, I think if price is a major factor I would go with the OEX, if not it would defiantly be the Vango for me. Good review, cheers Alan
Iove my Banshee 200... With 2 doors may I add! Used it in Devon a couple of years ago and it fit me, my missus and a small dog.... Was a bit tight but it did the trick easily. I have since upgraded for when my missus and dog come with me to Vango Halo 300 and its much roomier for us three. But when I go solo camping.. Which will be tomorrow.... I will always take me Banshee 200. Fantastic tent. Not too heavy and bomb-proof.. Not to mention I trust it in any weather! Great video Trev... Keep em coming! ATB 👍👍
Cheers - yeah I hear they have upgraded with two doors now, I shall have to look into getting a new one. And if my son ever starts coming out with me, as he has said he will once or twice, then perhaps the Halo will be a good investment too. Thanks for watching.
This is one of the best tent set up, usage and put down reviews I have watched, always on point and no faffing around, nice one! 👍👍👍👍👌👌👌 will be waiting for your Lanshan 2 review. 😊😊
My ownly issue with the Banshee Pro 200 is the length. I'm 6 foot and stretched out I find my face is right up against the inner. Basically, either the tent needs to be longer or the high point needs to be moved nearer the end.
I’ve got the OEX phoxx 11 v2 .. Awesome.. for me .. but I’m getting the vango banshe 300 pro .. for me & my lady .. so I’m buzzing trev .. cheers Chris & Sam
Generally, I always think you can't go too wrong with a Vango for the price. Not the lightest, or most cutting edge, but the usually do the job intended!
Hi Trev. Hope your well. Looking into getting the OEX for wild camping. Have you seen the paracord mod for keeping the fly and inner together for pitching if it’s raining? All the best, mate.
Interesting comparison video. I've been looking at the Vango and wondered how it compared to the phoxx 2 that I already own. I think the main reason why the oex felt so hot was because it was sat in direct light whereas the vango was put up in the shade. I am a bit put off by how tight the vango is, we have no problems with fitting two in the oex but wouldn't want it any smaller.
Good patient review Trev, I believe the banshee 200 and 300 models from 2014 had the upgrade of 2 doors which made it a better buy entirely, although the groundsheet in it always felt flimsy thin in my 2016 cactus model👍
What model year is your Banshee? The Banshee you see in my profile pic is the 2015/2016 model. Weight is 2.25kg, it has dual doors inner and outer. I don't get the sag in the inner tent with this one. But yes, highly agree the Banshee hands down. Mine has been through all the seasons(including winter!) and weather variants!
Great video, thanks!, I'm thinking of getting the Vango banshee 200, at the moment I'm using a Vango soul 200 that cost £40, I need something stronger for camping in the north of Dartmoor, the main pole broke and had to order more, they are really crap and not metal!, it's very waterproof tho, stood heavy rain
Just bought the Phoxx 2 V2 simply because it's a little larger than the Banshee 200...Not too bothered if it takes a minute longer to put up or take down, and with the paracord mod/hack mentioned elsewhere on UA-cam, the flysheet can be left attached to the inner anyway...
I was interested you considered packing the inner and outer together a gain on the Vango. I saw this as being of limited value. In a one night camp it is clearly a gain. However on my very few bike camping trips I leave early in the morning (elixier 2 tent) and the fly is covered in condensation inside and iut. If you packed it up with the fly like the Vango all that inside wet would be on the inner and not good in my opinion, hence I see packing the inner separately so it does not get wet that way seems an advantage. I can see outer up first, and inner down first as a gain. But packing together seems a limited gain. I would be interested what you think.
That may be a valid pont, to be honest - I have only ever taken it for the one night as of yet - and usually hang it out to dry together when I get home so not had this issue... but yeah, you could have point there. Thanks for the feedback!
I have done a video on budget packs, yes, but this year I bought a couple of Lowe alpine backpacks, a little bit more than cheap, but no where near Osprey prices and the quality, comfort and design is second to none... Lowe alpine Airzone Trail30 - amzn.to/2Ui1snP
Phoxx 2 is £59... The Banshee is £140! The phoxx is really good value. Had mine out last weekend. And it was battered with some heavy wind and rain in the north west Highlands. It did a great job!
Yea, it does seem really sturdy when up - because it pulls so taught... too taught as I ripped mine, but for the money it is a fantastic tent. Just wish you could put it up both skins together!
The phoxx 2 has a inside pocket located at the larger end of the tent where your head would lay and as the how long it take to put up it looks like you have put that banshee up slot more times than the phoxx 2, the phoxx still had tags and looked like it hadn't been used but the banshee looked very used so your obviously going to be able to put it up faster there is a also a massive price difference the banshee is around £60 more
Nice video again Trev,a little bit “too intense”(two in tents) can see a great opportunity to get a chemi-bolt fixing into your garden walls an try a few hammocks also !, again, great information on both products “namaste” my friend 🙏
I have this model of the Banshee and I was surprised by the stuff sack. Mine is like the OEX and as you rightly say is a pain to pack a tent back into, especially in cold, wet weather with numb fingers not wanting to cooperate. Might have to see if I can find a replacement more to the style you have.
A good, to the point review, thanks. An interesting comparison would be to pitch and strike both tents in the wind and rain ( not a nice sunny day ). I have a funny feeling that one would fare much better than the other. All the best.
have you considered getting the vango banshee gear store "add on" to allow for a better area to cook in etc. ive not seen a good youtube review of this product yet. p,s love your videos
Yea, especially as I have since been informed the new banshee appears too have the additional upgrades that I suggested would improve it - may have to look into upgrading myself.
Is that Vongo Bonshee a four season tent please ? I need a four season tent but there's no way I can she'll out €900 on a Hilliberger or an Alko.. Thanks great reveal
In the last two weeks I've got both of these tents second hand. The banshee cost 35 quid and my mate gave me the phoxx for free. Do you think I should invest in a tarp or an awning for these little tents maybe give me more room to cook or store my bags n gear. If you do, have you any suggestions? By the way thanks for the video reviews.
'Neat' comparison Trev, I have a Banshee 200(they are a bit small, but good for winter, the small size then makes them warmer), never seen an OEX ''in the flesh'' so wouldnt want to rule it out, looked a bit fiddly to take down mind...........cheers.....Stu..👍👌

A nice comparison video and new feature, however you must have a very early model Vango Banshee 200 as for the past few years or so they have made improvements by having two doors and plus an improved tension band system for extra stability. it is still very easy to put up and take down though.
My banshee 200 I separate, tent and pegs in a dry bag, which packs down to a third of the size of the stuff sack it comes in,poles strap down the side of my backpack, even smaller than my snugpack sleeping bag 👍
Yes, someone else has just suggested this to me, I may start looking for some nifty sized stuff sacks and try to downsize my tents. Thanks for watching!
You've got more tents than I've had hot dinners Trev. Auction a few, ( perhaps ) for your much needed funds. Good review, maybe include the hydrostatic heads, as that can be a factor..
Haha - yeah, maybe I could.... maybe... I never think to mention the hydrostatic heads - I'm sure with these tents it wouldn't matter. If it's pissing down with rain when the OEX goes up its gonna get wet.
Hi.. Can I ask if that model of banshee 200 that you have can still be purchased in your local outdoor shop? I like the old model than the pro version.
I havent, but I'd double up, usually in 8n3 if those compostabl2 co-op bags. If you're after peace 9f mind then you could always iron it whit and cook it foe longer.
Thanks Trev, was thinking of going to Dartmoor in September, so got time to get one. Do you ever meet up with any of your followers on UA-cam for a wild camp?
I bought the Vango Banshee 300 Pro last month. My only quibble with it is the length isn't long enough. Even at 5ft 10in I find my feet pressed against the bottom and my head against the inner too. I love the two doors either side and the 300 is good for 2 people. Just as I say. Shame about the length if it
Bought one of these Vango Banshee 200s a number of years ago but never got around to using it other than one trial run at my parents' home. Anyway, took it out into the back garden for a spin yesterday and was mortified to discover I couldn't remember how to put it up, this in front of curious neighbours ever eager to take the piss. On first viewing looks like the mistake I made was pegging in the groundsheet first but is the method I've used with every previous tent I've owned so maybe I might be forgiven for forgetting? Anyway, I'm sure this video will help. Thanks.
Hhaha! I feel your pain, Mick. I go through the same rigmarole every time I try putting up my Lanshan 2 and my tarp. Completely useless hahah! Thanks for watching!
Got a Vango Nevis 200 myself and it has 2 doors a lantern loop and it weighs less than the Banshee 200. About the only thing that i would improve with it would be dual zips on the door to the inner and better ventilation as it can get condensation but again may be me Vaping in it more than anything else. About the same room although it did fit me and my Kid (Ten at the time) with the gear in the vestibule on a North/South Dartmoor trip and that was tight i can't see two adults fitting in them.
Well, I have been mainly using a thermarest ridgerest and an inflatable roll mat together, but have just purchased an OEX Prowl XL... which I havent road tested yet - but heres a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/DxUSTREsGxI/v-deo.html
Any tent that needs the inner first is imho for fair weather only Soon as it rains forget worrying about condensation the inner is already soaking wet.
Hi, great videos, advice and knowledge. I'm 6' 2" and have a tent budget of a max £150. It would be 2 nights max and used monthly. Any guidance would be appreciated. I've subscribed to your and Paul Messner's channels.
Hi Red. Thanks for subscribing. Glad that you're enjoying the videos. I'm not sure that the banshee or the phoxx will be any good for you being over 6ft. I use the naturehike cloud up 2 a lot, and I reckon even that may be a little snug for you. Not sure if the star River or mongar 2 by naturehike may be better, but they are really decent budget tents.
Great comparison Trev! I own a Vango Nevis 200 which I think is superior to the banshee in a number of ways. It has two doors, a larger vestibule, hanging hooks and is cheaper. Worth a look I think!
I dont tie the outer waste of time it stays put pegged out ,, i had 3 packs of full frame dslrs and lenses + lighting and big tripod , 70 litre pack .. the vestibules are good on the phoxx 2 mk2 taking the OEX down take out the poles and roll both inner and outer up together saves time , none of that messing about your doing
The new Banshee is 100 times better than the oex, which is like a Chinese copy of the Vango. Still great for the price tho but Vango is in a different league
No midge netting doors on the vango tents named after the highlands ! ! ! Would drive anyone mad especially orange for days during a storm or midge infestation , the phoxx 2v11 has tons of netting and WILL stop you going totally insane after days stuck in , you can at least see outside the tent , i would have the phoxx over any of the new vango's theres no tent under £250 with as much thought to being inside the tent as the oex ,
Since uploading this episode it has been bought to my attention that the newer models of The Banshee do have 2 doors - I forgot to mention that mine is quite an old model. Hope you still enjoy this comparison video, though!

I've had the Phoxx out in awful weather and it's sound, for the price I don't think you can go wrong.

The vango was probably cooler because it was in the shade whereas the phoxx2 was in full sun.
The putting away time wins it for me though.
Excellent comparison review. Of the two, I would go for the Vango Banshee, especially if it now has two doors.
Great vid as always Trev, I personally find Vango tents, for the money cannot be beaten.
Best wishes, Gaz.
Iove my Banshee 200... With 2 doors may I add!

Newer versions of the banshee also have a small opening at the high end of the tent with access to a small vestibule you can store your boots in.
Banshee, all day everyday day. Good review mate 👍👍👍

Looking into getting the OEX for wild camping.
Have you seen the paracord mod for keeping the fly and inner together for pitching if it’s raining?
All the best,mate.
I'm thinking of the Phoxx 2 as I start wild camping.
I've seen that mod.
Have you tried it?
Is it good?

Ah, I did wonder if this may be the case as I was editing - I should have said that this tent is a good three years old at least!
Thanks for the advice SoN! Really appreciated. Have you done a video on sensibly priced back packs?
I have done a video on budget packs, yes, but this year I bought a couple of Lowe alpine backpacks, a little bit more than cheap, but no where near Osprey prices and the quality, comfort and design is second to none... Lowe alpine Airzone Trail30 - amzn.to/2Ui1snP

Tested out the Phoxx 2 at the weekend and it was a bit windy. The tent coped well. Pitching and packing, you just have to be careful.
A good, to the point review, thanks. An interesting comparison would be to pitch and strike both tents in the wind and rain ( not a nice sunny day ). I have a funny feeling that one would fare much better than the other. All the best.

Thanks for sharing Trev.

I need a four season tent but there's no way I can she'll out €900 on a Hilliberger or an Alko..

I think out of the two ( Vango Banshee 200 vs OEX Phoxx 2 ) i would trust the banshee more than the Phoxx 2. as it appears more sturdy.
WIll the Phoxx 2 fit a double mat (120cm)? Or a 1.5 size mat say 100cm wide?

Well, I have been mainly using a thermarest ridgerest and an inflatable roll mat together, but have just purchased an OEX Prowl XL... which I havent road tested yet - but heres a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/DxUSTREsGxI/v-deo.html
Any tent that needs the inner first is imho for fair weather only
Soon as it rains forget worrying about condensation the inner is already soaking wet.
Yeah, thats a big issue with the Phoxx
Banshee every time. OEX look and feel cheap. As always, nicely put together
Yeah, it does a bit, and is a bit of a faff. Cheers Nick.
I think the oex is a beauty for the money and a bit lighter weight
Great comparison Trev! I own a Vango Nevis 200 which I think is superior to the banshee in a number of ways. It has two doors, a larger vestibule, hanging hooks and is cheaper. Worth a look I think!
I'm surprised by all the love for the banshee.
That looked so cramped for 2 people .
I would go with the oex based on that alone
Banshee is a comfortable one man tent really, crap for two people
I have been using Banshee 3 for two for years... I like the twin side entrances , low profile and the base material.. 3.5kg.
Does no one use their bag as a pillow? They both look pretty comfortable for 2 people.
I often use my jacket - and yeah, they are both pretty comfortable tents. Cheers for watching!
Every video I watch says the vango weighs 2.4, 2.2, 2.3 and now 2kg lol 😂 I'd have it at any of those weights though great all rounder.
Great test Trev, nice day for it too... I found it hard to concentrate after seeing your pants every second though 😂🤣😂🤣 Cheers matey. Lee
banshee all the way had both the two man and three man stood up to anything the weather threw at em ,
Cool. Cheers for the feedback. I'm hoping to get a newer model Banshee at some point. Thanks for watching!
My Vango Banshee 200 having two doors ?
I need a good source to get the banshee in the US.....anyone have one?
If i hear anything I will let you know!
@@SummitOrNothing awesome, thank you!
Ali Express, made in China.
Them spuggies are a bit loud mind. Wouldn't kip with me windows open, if they kick the dawn chorus off!
The good thing I saw about this test was that the Vango ,packs away much quicker ,so you can have an extra 5mins in bed lol =-)
Banshee better bag, better weight. Pitching as one. The OEX you’re getting the bedroom wet when raining ☔️ not ideal.
I Love my Banshee.
Es ist wichtig dass es aufgebaut werden kann., mit dem Innenzelt.
Das zählt.
Nur für kurze Menschen.😂😅🤣
New banshee 200’s have 2 doors Trev.
My banshee has 2 doors.
Yes, I realise now that they have made a number of upgrades - D'oh!
@@SummitOrNothing if only you could sit up in it. Great review Trev.
I know this is an old video but looking at tents and the OEX is now £170 or £95 on offer atm. Compared to £59 last year
Yes, the OEX gear seems to have gotten a little more expensive these days. Shame really!
The new Banshee is 100 times better than the oex, which is like a Chinese copy of the Vango. Still great for the price tho but Vango is in a different league
Vango
Cheers!
The phoxx only took so long to put up because you kept stopping to waffle...
Haha... Valid point but I did during both to be fair.
Summit Or Nothing not as much as with the phoxx! Haha
Summit Or Nothing I kept wanting to hurry you along
No midge netting doors on the vango tents named after the highlands ! ! ! Would drive anyone mad especially orange for days during a storm or midge infestation , the phoxx 2v11 has tons of netting and WILL stop you going totally insane after days stuck in , you can at least see outside the tent , i would have the phoxx over any of the new vango's theres no tent under £250 with as much thought to being inside the tent as the oex ,
Go on lad , have you been buying shiba inu crypto 😁
At 6'3" and 100kg the Vango is just too small,
Slummit Cub 2, cheaper, better.
Omg putting the OEX up and down in the wind would be a nightmare!
Vango
Aye!
