I have this tent, it’s a good size 1 person tent without being on top of each other as a two person tent. It’s brill for the price, I’ve got no complaints used it with snow and high winds and it didn’t let me down!
I used this tent in the Lake District and the weather was extremely terrible heavy rain constantly and strong winds this tent surprised me it’s bomb proof highly recommend only down fall for me is the vestibule is rather small I prefer slightly larger to cook ect apart from that this is a really good stealthy weather resistant roomy tent only recommend using it solo
I can't fault this tent. My 12 year old daughter & I shared it over 9 nights camping & hiking the 96 mile West Highland Way in Scotland last summer. It was cosy but we had plenty of room for our 65lt backpacks above our heads. Sometimes a bit of a squeeze getting dressed so when we came back I bought a Lanshan Pro 2 & we're due to use it in 2 weeks to hike & wild camp the 120mile Rob Roy Way. I'll keep my Phoxx 2 though just as back up x
@@cmcc3721 she also recently did the 80 mile Rob Roy Way carrying all her own kit too & well be doing the 70 mile Cumbria Way in a couple of weeks. Including food & water she's carrying 5-8kg , plenty for her without been too challenging or too easy x
@notme1345 all 3 of our kids have always come on dog walks & been outdoorsy on bikes & what not. So really from 4 they've done 3 miles easy but going at their pace & having picnics. Just do it slowly, you don't have to hike far to camp out. And have fun x
am glad i brought this when it was aroudn the £60 to £80 mark, now it appears to be well over £100, brilliant tent, served me well in my wild camps and bike packing
Lots of people don't like inner first pitch tents, especially in the rain, it's very easy to attach the fly sheet of this tent to the inner by way of a few lengths of paracord, to stop the inner getting wet if pitching in the rain, this way it retains the versatility of having just a mesh screen (for the bugs) on those summer nights when the stars have to be seen to be believed. just remove the paracord, good luck.

As a one person thats a fantastic space in that. Also the height is just right. I think 2 people would be a squeeze with all your gear. Great review, thanks Andy :)
Ive just brought this tent for £99 from go outdoors, looks very impressive from the one i saw setup in store, i have a eurohike dlx but wanted one with a bit more of a hydrostatic rating, thanks for a great review also
Good review Thanks Andy. The only thing I noticed was there are no mesh insect doors on the two entrances. But, it does look like a good tent. To be able to sit up is a proper "Brucie Bonus".
For the UK this has to be one of the finest 1 man tents on the market, apart from a bigger vestibule and slimming the weight sub 2 kilo, what more could you possibly want? When I look at this tent and what it offers for the money, and then I look at the Hilleberg Akto, it leaves me a little puzzled and quite frankly flabbergasted! There is no way on this planet that tent is worth 600 quid more than the Phoxx 2! Ok the Akto has a cracking vestibule, slightly lighter, cracking build quality, able to endure harsher weather and great customer care. I wouldnt even say the Hille is 50% better than the Phoxx....the mind boggles! 🤦🏻♂️
Andy, thanks for this review. Been thinking about the Phoxx IIv2 for cycle camping, torn between it and the slightly larger & heavier OEX Rakoon 2.1, which looks ace. Off for a couple of nights in my old Vango Alpha 200 (budget but pretty decent, although flimsy fibreglass poles) in a couple of weeks to try to work out the weight/size vs comfort conundrum for multi-day trips. Enjoying your channel, thanks again.
Very impressed. Only major issue for me is it seems pretty weather resistant so ideal in pretty bad conditions but inner-first pitching kinda goes against that for me
Excellent review, I think I am going to go for the OEX tent as this suits my needs perfectly... Just an off topic question, what are the trousers and walking boots that you are wearing?
Great review Andy. Was a toss up between this and the banshee for me last year and I went for this purely because I managed To pick it up about half the price of the banshee
If I’m looking to stealth camp, am I better off with this tent, or a full on bivvy tent (like the snugpak stratosphere)? I’d rather the tent in the video, but I’m just wondering whether it’s too tall. Would a camo net help fully disguise it enough?
Thank you for the great review , I'm looking at getting a tent for bike packing and really like the naturehike mongar 2 nice to see something else too , 👍
I've been thinking about this tent or going for a bigger Berghaus Cairngorm 2, which is obviously heavier. I'm just under 5ft 7 and It's mainly for hiking up into the peak district for the odd night or 2. Which you think best? I'd be also going in rougher weather.
OLPRO Pioneer is a good alternative to this tent, I went for the OLPRO because I have a dislike of orange inners but other than that they are almost identical.
Ive just got this tent and there is a small strap of fabric on the zip separating the zippers. I dont i onow how better to describe it. On this video its not there. Did you remove it? And if so what purpose does it serve? Thanks for the review by the way. Great video 👍
Hi Andy! Have a look at the Olpro Voyager from OLPRO. Is better than OEX - in my opinion. Have a look. Is lighter (1.9 kg), outer first, brilliant for one person wild camping.
@@BackpackingUK similar to vango banshee, not oex. but the olpro voyager has more room for your feet and has only one door with mesh and fabric. HH is 5000.

They’re quite different. The Cloud Up 2 will be bigger inside and lighter but not as good in bad weather. If you’re a fair weather camper I’d go Cloud Up 2.
Cloud Up 2 user here. The pack size is a bitt different, but not massive - it's 40*13 cm, compared to this Phoxx2 41*16 cm. The weight is pretty similar too, the nylon CU2 is a tiny bit lighter but the polyester a tiny bit heavier than the Phoxx2. I'm personally impressed with how weather is faired (heavy rain is nothing, 43 mph wind gusts was no problem at all, good working guy lines and the outer was stable, though the inner flapped a bit because of the airflow), but yeah theoretically the Phoxx2 should be better with its "kite" profile when winds pick up more. The CU2 does have good space - but at ground level, the "ridge line" makes it narrow so a lot of that space gets taken away in volume. You can pitch the CU2 outer first, a bit more tricky but doable, and it's free standing. The downside is that it's like €170 or so (nylon version). I hope you get satisfied with whatever tent you choose, they're both excellent products.
Cracker of a tent! Nail it down right and it'll see you through the worst of nights. The Phoxx 1 v2 is my stealther, just a wee bit sneaker lol. Phoxx 2 is my mansion tent. Dead right though, if you are planning on going 2 up, be prepared to snuggle 🤣
