This was the Pitt Race Test & Tune held Thursday, to get ready for the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix next weekend. My husband drives a 1962 Porsche 356 B. It's built for the street, not racing, but the fellow racers still encourage him on the track. It's funny because everyone shows up with their fancy RV's and we come with a gas can. lol! Sorry Petrolicious but I have to unsubscribe. The new format is terrible, presenter not needed, and you come off as pretentious and full of yourselves. It used to be the cars, the sounds they made, and the owners stories that made the channel worth watching. How could you guys lose the plot so fully? I guess time will tell. I ll come back and check once in awhile to see if you came to your senses.
These are not the new format, they were part of an “exclusive” paid membership series of homologation specials that was made last year, and a couple early this year, they also made a series of master mechanics and another called hand made or something like thar. My favourite part of Petrolicious was listening to the owner talk about their car, how they fell in love with a particular car, how they found it, how they brought it back to life, how it makes them feel while driving it. I'd rather let the owner talk about the history, the passion they bring to the subject cannot be replicated with any presenter. To the new owners of Petrolicious I'd like to say you've made it just like any other ho-hum car show out there. Unless you fix it I will unsubscribe.

Your ending point has been my Sports Car mantra since the 80's. Datsun Z put Nissan, smack dab in the fore front of Street Performance Sports Cars with the 240Z. They pretty much stood above the Italian, British, and French , equivalent imported State side. The only car compatible was the 911. Two and three times more expensive. Porsche always had the DRIVER, as THE Design Element. Producing the Tool, which the Driver used, on a Road or a Track. They never waivered , not once from this . Japan on the other had, was so giddy with greed, from the success, of the Datsun Z. Followed the Marketeers, instead of the Design Department. Here we have Porsche making a Tool, for a Driver to use on Road or Track. And Japan , trying to fit anybody and everybody into a Z. Which thinking was correct, History has proven. PORSCHE making a Tool for "A Driver".. Was far more successful, then taking a World Class Sports Car design, and trying to please everybody's wishes, " except the, ENTHUSIAST'S , the DRIVERS, that made the Datsun Z , a huge success. Porsche never lost focus, of why the Sports Car was designed for , a DRIVER .
I CANT HEAR THE CAR...!!!!!!!!!!!! Also: who is this guy, it isn't his car, who owns the car, what's their story, what's the car's story...? Petrolicious is giving me indigestion.
What’s the point of getting a membership if Petrolicious puts premium series content on UA-cam for free anyway? Magazine going all digital too? Complete waste of money. The brand is ruined. Hopefully the channel can pick itself back up at least.
I strongly dislike the music but even worse: The mixing is horrible. Has anyone with a pair of functioning ears listened to this before it was uploaded? That said: That is one very special car, and especially the shots of it with the lights on, in slight darkness and haze, are stunning! Overall a beautiful video.
I know right? Can barely hear what the presenter is saying yet the music and car is ridiculously loud. Made it really hard to watch. Like I live with other people, I don't want to deafen them.
@@diarmuidmarsden7752 Exactly. I live in an apartment, and was watching the video at slightly after midnight. Having adjusted the volume to the hard to hear voice, I nearly had a heart attach when the car roared by at a lot higher volume.
Sam Hancock is not only an extremely quick race car driver he is a grest host very much in the style of the great Alain De Cadenet in the Victory by Design series. Well done.👍
Guess had an idea why the stil didint bring the old format back. Its quarantine and probably the owners are either scaredy cats or too old and thus having a conversion is a risk and whateever happen to these owners are in the responsibilty to Petrolicous. Pray to God that quarantine or COVID would soon be over and we might saw the old format back.
The original format is about THE car. This new format is about A car. BIG difference. Others do car history. We want the story of one particular car and it's equally particular owner. Thanks in advance 👍
Love this guy, I also like the owner stories, but this guy is an interesting update to the channel every now and then! The music is ehh, but overall I prefer this to the owner stories mostly. Also, where did he get his jacket? Lol, I need it.
I’d enjoy this video more if it spent less time giving the host face time and more showing off the car. And as far as showing off the car, it shows the same exterior portions over and over. If I wanted Clarkson-esque I’d watch Top Gear or the Grand Tour
When will people, especially the Americans -Jay Leno included - learn to pronounce correctly the name ?? It is NOTPor but like PorschA but Porsche, the being silent like in « porsh ». My ears cringe everytime !!
I HOPE THIS COMMENT IS SEEN BY THE REST OF COMMENT SECTION! Yes this format is agonizing compared to the usual videos you see here but realise that this format was created long before Petrolicious was under new ownership. These videos were created by the previous ownership for the paid members! These videos are also a different series compared to the "Made to Drive" series and will obviously therefore be different. I'm sure these old videos are being published while the new ownership is creating new content in the format we know and love. So chill out...
Sorry , love the channel but this is a low point. The cinematography is excellent, the host is enthusiastic , but the audio is ridiculously mis-matched. Personally, I think Dr. Porsche did a lot with what he had to work with, but the car looks like a bug, sounds like a sewing machine and with under 100 HP must struggle to keep up with the legendary Marques of the same era. Drum brakes...don’t ask too much, too late...Also, a GT car wit no heater... ummm. Cue up the Jaguar XK 120.
Music to Lord and we Need more car sound,, so fahr so good. BUT I don‘t like the videos as before. Because i‘m missing the format, the story from and between the cars and their owners. That was the USP for Petrolicious. No we get „old“ information about cars and driving experience from a subjective point of view, like every other car format make it. Old Stories with old Cars. New Storys with old Cars, like before, please.
I rarely, if ever comment on videos but felt I had to on this one. I have always loved the beautiful cinematic filming style and thoughtful and passionate prose from the owners in previous Petrolicious videos. With all due respect to the presenter, this new direction is complete Top Gear'esque mediocre rubbish. I don't see why anyone would want to take a format which works and is loved and completely kill it.Sorry, but I think you'll be losing subscribers in their droves if this is the road you are going down.
I don't dislike the test driver, as he has some mindful perspective. However, the charm of hearing the owners' story and passions has been compromised. Something special to be said about diligently flogging one's own ride. This guy could be Petrolicous' Randy Pobst.
With everyone else: there are plenty of channels doing car reviews. Petrolicious actually had something unique on UA-cam, but now it seems like the brand is just copying everyone else...and it feels awkward and out of place. Miss the old you, Petrolicious. ☺️
You found the drum brakes nit confidence inspiring? Do you know how to drive? I vintage raced these 356’s for years and even the regular non GT drum brakes are outstanding. They have never faded and have more swept area than the later 356c brakes. You need to learn how to drive and on a 4 cam keep the rpms up. No wonder you had such a bad experience but it’s all due to driver not knowing how to drive one.
Seem that Petrolicious went public... No more use its original format an unique presentation of classic cars... Not a fan of this “new” (and very common format of host explaining the history of the car (but not this particular example)... total lack of the passion and ownership narrative... so unique of this channel before this format. it a shame as doesn’t feel special anymore. Just another Host presenting the brand. Sad.
Just let me dream... imagine a little Porsche smaller and cheaper than the boxter, reminiscent of the same era that the 356…just a 4 cilinder low weight with manual gearbox and around 150/200 bhp...and no more than 30k...
Being constructive - really like that you bring more history on the make/model but like all the other comments, a passionate owner who tells his story is what made these videos the best. Not going to unsub for now... but i am very dissapointed (oh and yes - the sims music must be joke;-))
I was hoping this was just a new series on Petrolicious but they would still be doing the old videos as well. Maybe it's because of COVID they are only producing these at the moment? the old stuff was pure automotive pornography and definitely the best car channel on youtube
I genuinely hope that they're reading the comments. For the past few videos that have been released, it's been consistently the same issue. The format of the content is no longer the same, the passion is missing. The people that sub to this channel doesn't want to hear someone review the car, you don't get the same level of magic when someone reviews the car. Let the owner do the story telling. Please for the love of god don't let this be another thing that 2020 is taking away from us. It's been rough enough, we want to see more of the old stuff that made this channel. Otherwise, between this and carfection......I'd much rather watch Henry Catchpole.
It was a bitch to tune, there were only a few people in the US who could at the time, I grew up with one of the only people who were factory trained,Dick Shuck at the bottom of my street. Always great cars in the family garage, always a college kid with a big with a Porsche engine. So Cool. Race cars at the bottom of the hill. Thank you God for where I grew up !!!!
Please bring back the old format! None of us want to hear from another generic presenter. We want the actual owners as before. They are the ones that have the stories, the family traditions, and true love for their cars. No offense to the guy in the videos, but unless you bring back the old format this channel will just get lost in a sea of others about cars. And pls get back to the original sound track, which was more sophisticated and purposeful.
Sadly now this is just another motoring channel to be consigned to the scrapheap. The new format of one guy road testing cars is just like any other classic car channel on YT. All of these models have been tested by many others and their history already given. The old format of an owner telling the story of their car and their life with it, was what made petrolicious different and worth watching.
Whew...this new format is just plain awful. The reason Petrolicious was so good was because you got to see and feel the passion of the owners, the love they have poured into their cars, and the revvs of the engine. UA-cam doesn't need yet another "car review channel." Please go back to the old format.
The first video from this channel that I did not watch completely. The first video of this channel that I "Disliked". Petrolicious gets one or two more chances and if the format doesn't change back, I will unsubscribe.
Has success spoiled Petrolicious and BAT?? I remember when both were less full of themselves and more focused on WHAT truly made them interesting to subscribers and members...

I'd rather let the owner talk about the history, the passion they bring to the subject cannot be replicated with any presenter. To the new owners of Petrolicious I'd like to say you've made it just like any other ho-hum car show out there. Unless you fix it I will unsubscribe.
My husband isn't a pro, but he loves his car and talks about his car in this video. This was the Test and Tune and next weekend he'll be in the PVGP. ua-cam.com/video/dufUyh6GyxA/v-deo.html
This car is outstanding. Had my hands on one once. Drum brakes are just fine. A different kind of driving technique . You got to be smooth presise
Pick a volume, please.
is that music from the SIMS ?
Great video but once again, I have to say, we need the old format.
Calm down. This man in enthusiast 🙌🏻 miss old format too, but ok times changing.
I might be done with this channel. Real stories > than presenter...
Love your work, nice work. Thanks Again!
beautiful machine
Sam Hancock is not only an extremely quick race car driver he is a grest host very much in the style of the great Alain De Cadenet in the Victory by Design series. Well done.👍
great video! still waiting for new episodes…
I enjoy this new format but do prefer the old owner stories. Room for both perhaps.
The original formula was much better. Please bring it back!
Love this guy, I also like the owner stories, but this guy is an interesting update to the channel every now and then! The music is ehh, but overall I prefer this to the owner stories mostly. Also, where did he get his jacket? Lol, I need it.
Such a gorgeous classic
respect from Kaliningrad)skyline owner)
Love the cars. Miss the old format.
hm... clicked on it looking forward to a special video.... what do I get.... standard car review video. Bring back the owners an their stories!
I’d enjoy this video more if it spent less time giving the host face time and more showing off the car. And as far as showing off the car, it shows the same exterior portions over and over. If I wanted Clarkson-esque I’d watch Top Gear or the Grand Tour
What is wrong with the sound balance: voice vs. engine sound? Somehow much harder to hear the presenter than in other videos.
Or is this my equipment playing up
@@Rei_n1 no no, I have the same problem with the video. I guess the guy need a clipon mic, because the sound balance is not on the point
When will people, especially the Americans -Jay Leno included - learn to pronounce correctly the name ?? It is NOTPor but like PorschA but Porsche, the being silent like in « porsh ». My ears cringe everytime !!
I agree, sold out.
I'm curious about the espresso maker.... Where do I get one ? Of course the Alfa is an absolute Beauty 🍀
The sound it makes.. sooo RAW
Wet road. Rear engine. Drum brakes. Narrow twisty road. I was SOOOOO nervous watching this video.
The "Music" is not adding anything to the video.
I really like this presenter - I really like the new format too.
Like Mother Nature designed it, take sheet metal and let the wind shape it. Timeless. I would trade my 911 for this one.
And during the war they had 3 tanks, 1 being the largest of all time.
Not a single reference to the design and the silver arrows, among many others data.
Millennials ...
I was lucky enough to have owned one! Selling it, though at a big profit, was one of my largest regrets in life!
Great video, but I do miss the previous “owner video” style. Please bring it back. @Petrolicious, are you reading any of the comments?
Whew...this new format is just plain awful. The reason Petrolicious was so good was because you got to see and feel the passion of the owners, the love they have poured into their cars, and the revvs of the engine. UA-cam doesn't need yet another "car review channel." Please go back to the old format.
The first video from this channel that I did not watch completely. The first video of this channel that I "Disliked". Petrolicious gets one or two more chances and if the format doesn't change back, I will unsubscribe.
Passionate owners > yuppie presenter. Such a shame
Has success spoiled Petrolicious and BAT?? I remember when both were less full of themselves and more focused on WHAT truly made them interesting to subscribers and members...
