Good idea to raise the flame. You can put an empty tuna can on top of another can and add twigs or charcoal to the empty tuna can. Works nicely. Thank you! Great video!

Learned a lot watching this. Never knew that drilling in reverse keeps the edges smooth. Love that your video was easy to follow, edited well, had funny moments and you didnt have a bunch of loud music in the background ( idk why so many UA-camrs feel the need to add distracting music to their videos🤦‍♂️). Thanks a bunch. Looking forward to trying this out. Subscribed.

Yo, high 5 on the mentioning of so many tubers, and the distracting, annoying music in their tutes.
I appreciate LF73 to the highest degree because he is a common sense guy!!!
And in all seriousness, he is funny as heck to me!!!

I never watched your video, but during our freeze in Texas my electricity was out for 2 weeks and I didn’t have a gas stove or a bbq pit at the time. I used a old coffee can and a makeshift burner with alcohol to light a fire to cook my food. It wasn’t the prettiest thing but it got the job done. It was use my little makeshift stove to make a meal orrrrr eat crackers for 2 weeks straight. I swear that was the best steak I ever had lol I’m not gonna lie tho, the Texas freeze was a VERY humbling experience. A real eye opener.

Yo same! It was my first year so I wasn't well established. I had a BBQ to boil water and cook. This year I saved every darn branch from my oak tree out front and I'm ready with a wood stove and oil lamps!

Lead, I love your videos. Don't know if anyone's liable to read my comment 3 yrs in, but I've watched a bunch of guides on how to make rocket stoves and can stoves, and THIS is probably my favorite. However, hope nobody minds if I offer a possible adjustment for the time when you might be cooking with wood outdoors - in which case you'd want another metal container to hold the fuel. You'd want to put something under the entire contraption but then make a lot of holes in it too. Make the wood fuel container just a little shorter than the stove part you've shown here as well. It should also be somewhat narrower in diameter.
*IF* using wood and you want to be able to add fuel for some kind of longer project than eggs, you could make the bigger hole on both cans round and use a smaller tomato paste can through which to keep feeding sticks into the center fuel can occasionally as needed. My emergency supplies include one bag of wood pellets since they burn hotter and you need less bulk therefore; but I'll also use them more sparingly since I wouldn't want to find myself overtaxing the buffer material under the contraption. Everybody, make sure to keep things on hand like cotton balls dipped in vaseline to use as fire starters if needed.
Finally on another matter I just thought of an excellent way to make a 5-gal bucket loo better. Of course you line it with a sturdy plastic bag and some filler like kitty litter or rabbit pellets or horse pellets for the solids, but the less liquid goes in there the better. So here's my idea of how to make a urine diverter. There's a kind of metal funnel with a long flexible metal hose; you can attach the top of the funnel underneath the toilet seat in front but inside and with enough projecting past the inner rim of the seat to be the liquid catcher. However, b4 use, you drill a hole through the side of the bucket and poke the funnel's flexible spout through there; the other end goes into a catcher of some sort (I like empty fruit juice bottles but be creative!) that would be easy to carry away for disposal either down a bathroom sink drain if that's not plugged up. Or if you're not in an apartment somewhere - I have just 1/4 acre land but that's enough - then this 'night thunder' can be used to fertilize non-food plants. I put some around my trees in winter to discourage deer and to provide plant nutrients. No proof but I also bet it helps deter rodents like rabbits and moles & voles.
Hope that helps someone jump start their own adaptations.

lead, forgot about another item to go in your survival bucket -- baking soda, only 59-79 cents uses: 1) wash/scrub dishes. only takes a little of each. saves on soap and water, especially where fresh water is scarce. 2) deodorant. helps stop the stink and can help you feel a bit cool absorbing sweat. 3) dry shampoo. run thru your hair then brush it out. will absorb the oils and dirt. 4) toothpaste 5) along with salt, can help another a small fire. there's probably more but that's off the top of my head. also include cotton swabs and popsicle sticks.

Be sure to just use cornstarch for dry shampoo. It's been all over the mainstream news lately that readymade dry shampoos are posing health hazards. Corn starch works fine and is safe enough to eat.

Hand held bottle opener (use the pointy end) and from the edge push around the top side and into the inside. The bottom becomes the top of your burner and an arch on the bottom, is for those tuna cans full of cardboard and we use sawdust then pour wax on them to use as homemade sterno. Save the tuna lids to stop the flame (use tongs). Usually lasts for a good 20 minutes, I cooked a voila' meal in a covered fry pan, it cooked it just fine!

Man that was too awesome, I probably would've cut the door on three sides and left the metal piece intact to close up the entry against wind, adjust the temp of the fire and help secure my stuff in the can when I pack it away. The top side holes are plenty enough for air circulation to keep the fire burning.

yeah, them sternos kick once they get going. that's what is used for those chaffing/serving devices at buffet settings. they get real hot and burn for nearly three to four hours plus are reuseable (sniff out the flame by using the back of a large metal soup spoon, which should be in your survival kit along with your big knife, fits the top nicely) and replace the lid.

how to make this stove except a couple of very important things I would have overlooked , using the drill in reverse
( brilliant by the way ) , and the the wood bit for the large holes! I like the #10 cans for this because of the capacity and the capability for different fuels. Job well done ! Thank You !
BTW , while I'm thinking of it , and before I forget it , stay away from the seam in the can ( it's necessary for the structure
of the can ) when drilling the holes.

Awesome this is really a super thing to have just encase you run out of propane or butane and can't get any more. Great backup stove and heater. Thank you so very very much. I really appreciate you and your wife. Would love to support you how do I do that?

Thank you. Great presentation. So much easier than a rocket stove. I saw a couple videos of that on you tube. And this seems to work just as well, and seems safer.
