I'm honestly hearing A LOT of Gojira influence on this album. Especially from the From Mars to Sirius album. Not positive if they are fans or not but it get that vibe.
The people complaining this is too short or there isn't enough going on to grab them or they are wanting more of sit and mourn. Be thankful with what they have done, real HARDCORE is fast and short and aggressive and real Grind doesn't fuck about trying to be popular. It's just agressive. This is a great blend of many genres to create a monster album.
I was REALLY hoping that your reaction to the "EUGH" in The Calm That Keeps You Awake would be exactly how it ended up being. My exact face the first time I heard it 💥
Take Me Home is the only track I really don’t care much for personally. Sit & Mourn is the best for me as well as Blinding Faith and The Calm That Keeps You
Bro, Don't reach for me, take me home and suffocate. cheff's kiss. btw, that metronome sounding thing is probably not the metronome but the strings being scraped while not plugged in. SO cool.
I don't know, it sounds good, so fun, so devastating. But simply, I can't have a deep feel with this kind of metal/metalcore, I feel like I need more, something more memorable and exciting, like the last song of the album. We've had this year several hyped albums of this style, like Alpha Wolf, Boundaries and this, and I can't feel passionate with anyone.
Maybe thats because especially knocked loose and alpha wolf are metalcore bands that are very leaning towards the hardcore side of it. Maybe thats the thing that does not click for you. For me its the exact opposite. I am a washed up hardcore kid through and through and even though i like many metalcore releases its the more hardcore leaning ones that stick with me (knocked loose, alpha wolf, thrown, dealer etc)
Loses narrowly to The Black for me, but it’s definitely my second favorite album of this year. Sit & Mourn is my favorite because it’s so different for them and the guitar outro is very rhythmic and headbangable. Album is fantastic. 8.75/10
I love the album. Exceeded my expectations. I think their sound is becoming more experiment, mature, and unique. 27 minutes- perfect. Got their point across. And I am sure I am the only one that could have done without Slaughterhouse 2
I dont think it was a bad song. I think its placement in the album wasn't the best. Personally thought it would be cool to have it after Thirst and let Moss through Calm play out, because those songs are mint when played back to back.
i would say this album is okay, singles are the most memorable songs there, slaughterhouse 2 is a huge disappointment but my absolute favorite is the final track, that ending is just something...
DREW. YOU LOVE NIGHTVERSES. PLEASE, REACT TO BLUESHIFT - A HALO OF FLIES. THEY JUST DROPPED THE BEST PROGRESSIVE METAL SONG IN A WHILE, AND NOONE EVER REACTS TO THEM. Okay, rant done.
I don't know how to feel about this album. It feels like nothing special in the Knocked Loose catalogue. I just don't like the production on it. The snare and kick drum are so loud in the mix that it's all I can hear at points. The guitars feel like they have no mids, so when they are playing fast all I hear is massive bass explosions and nothing else a lot of the time. Moss Covers All and Take Me Home feel like interludes so this already short album feels even shorter because those songs do nothing for me. This album just doesn't have many memorable moments on it compared to their last few releases. Very disappointed in this release to be honest. Don't Reach For Me chorus is so good that I wish they went more melodic on this record instead of getting pummeled by the same sounding chuggy riffs.
Just curious, how did you feel about Tear in the Fabric of Life? This album feels like the evolution of that chaotic abrasive sound. As a hardcore fan, a short album will never bother me too 😅 but I do agree on the basis of they released too many singles. Really my biggest complaint is the entire album flow is thrown off by Slaughterhouse 2. Good track but something like Everything is Quiet Now would have fit the vibe of this record more
@@connorhendrickson A Tear in the Fabric of Life is my favorite thing Knocked Loose has put out. This album doesn't feel like an evolution of that sound at all to me. There are some elements that sound similar but the vibes are completely different. A Tear in the Fabric felt way more melodic and progressive than this album. The songs also felt more complete and unique on Tear in the Fabric compared to these songs, which all feel like the same song. I also cannot stress how much worse I think this album's production is. Even if the songs were better, I don't think I would like this album based on how muddy and compressed everything sounds. And that ringing snare drum is killing me in these songs. I like a riff or breakdown and then I get hit with that awful sounding snare and it takes me out of the song. It's so insanely loud in the mix that I can't tune it out.
@@DoNotLookDown nah i feel the exact same way, this feels like a step back from ATITFOL imo, still a fun album for sure but it's weak relative to what they've released before. also agree on production, i do think it's good here, but man i much much prefer putney's production

i’m an interview recently, they said gojira has heavily influenced their music as of late
That little melody in the end of sit and mourn reminded me of the opening to flying whales
@@brandoscreamo oh shit I had no idea. Totally makes sense now.
@@dustinfotothey toured together in ‘21
Yup, their ‘Tear in the fabric’ EP also very Gojira

100% agree this kind of genre its better if its short and caothic
The new album from knocked loose is how I've been saying it lol
I was REALLY hoping that your reaction to the "EUGH" in The Calm That Keeps You Awake would be exactly how it ended up being. My exact face the first time I heard it 💥
Best track: Suffocate
UndeHyped: Take me home
Overhyped (but good) Slaughterhouse 2
Yeah, Slaughterhouse kinda took me out of the album experience. Good track, just not the right place (or maybe even album) for it.
I was totally underwhelmed by Slaughterhouse 2, but the one-two punch of Moss Covers All and Take Me Home was absolutely massive for me
Sit & Mourn also deserves a mention, but I'm a sucker for atmospheric heaviness
Take Me Home is the only track I really don’t care much for personally. Sit & Mourn is the best for me as well as Blinding Faith and The Calm That Keeps You
The calm that keeps you awake is fucking sick
I can’t wait to catch these guys live next Friday with Show me The Body and Loathe

btw, that metronome sounding thing is probably not the metronome but the strings being scraped while not plugged in. SO cool.
There’s a metronome in the background of most of them but it’s called direct input and it’s when the instrument has no effects at all.

Spot on. Fun for a couple listens but nothing I’ll be listening to a few months from now

This album is fucking delicious
This and Ulcerate's new album are my top 2 of the year so far.
Moss covers all/Take me home give me chills everytime.
The song of silent planet u may have heared was antimatter eventually? :D
What a nice album, makes me cool down after a hard day lol
Album of the year, no contest.
Drew check out the new song from Static Dress called Crying. Really good stuff like early 2000's post hardcore but with their own unique sound
I was thinking of video game soundtrack too😂 in a good way
These boys are on one.
