when it's cold, hang the hammock just 6" off of the ground and kick debris under it, so as to stop air from flowing under you. You can build a fire where you'll hang the hammock, warming the ground. elsewhere, a couple of Siberian fire lays can warm up both sides of some big rocks that you bury under the hammock and some smaller rocks that youll put into the bivy, with some moss or tall grasses around them so that they dont burn you or the bivy. Heated air rises, so the hot rocks and dirt under you will warm you for several hours.
I made the hammock out of 50x10 ft of monofialament 2' mesh gillnet, with wire-pulling tape as tree straps. I folded it 3x, making it 6 ft "long'. then I lay on it with my spine aligned with the 10 ft dimension. You can wrap this netting around yourself, using it to hold a 2' thick layer of dry debris around you, making for a lot of insulative effect,, without needing a lot of debris. Stuff the same debris between your clothing and your body, Smoke the debris heavily vs spiders and ticks, or have 1-2 sets of Amazon's 1/4 lb each full body bugnet "suits".
