There is a lot ideas interwoven throughout the movie that are both philosophical and mathematical. For people who thrive on these things, songs like divided by zero, and the illusion of time being abstract, not linear, wet the appetites like the movie "PI". I think it's PB's best work yet!
Yeah, in a recent fit of nostalgia, I rented their live concert DVD--'Somewhere' ('97)--'cause I'd never seen it before & LOVED it! They are so wonderfully theatrical plus their music & lyrics evoke such emotion in me... I can't help it! I think my hubby thinks I'm absolutely cuckoo because I was actually getting teary-eyed during their live version of "The Theatre," one of my very fave songs of theirs. When I saw their live show in San Fran in 2000, I didn't want it to end--it was THAT GOOD!
The most surprising thing in all of this scene, was seeing one of them smile. In this case Chris, I'd been listening to them for around 3 years and never seen a smile. This was great.
It is indeed a very odd film. Saw it MANY years ago on video. Very difficult to follow, but the songs in it were great, of course. How adorable were Neil and Chris while in their younger years such as in this clip??? I mean... I'm a straight female, but I've always adored those boys & their music. Just loved their biting wit & cerebral reflections. Doesn't matter if you're gay or straight--you can still relate! Plantively singing Neil & stoic Chris by his side has always been an enduring image.
I was very lucky to get this film, as i bought it on video from someone who was selling it on a stall. We call it a car boot sale here, which means you sell things you dont want anymore. Also, if you want to see this, it's on google video : )
So, question, is there a japanese language track for this movie? I ask because the movie reminds me of 80s anime movies so much, and hearing a Japanese track would be wild.
To watch it, go on google, then click on video, then in the search box, type in pet shop boys movie it couldnt happen here, and click on the clip that lasts for 81 mins.If you type that in, it will be easier to find.
I was a huge PSB fan 21 years ago & wanted to go down to Clacton On Sea where the beach views were. Sadly my parentswouldnt let me go on a train on my own as at the time I was only 14. However I did see the film on video & to be quite honest, I thought it was crap. OK Ill admit Iam a bit thick & to me this film only really for people who had high intellgence & people who really understood the film as in my opinion , It didnt really have a storyline

I just realized how appropriate it is that the very next line in the film is "You dress me up. I'm your puppet."

Egg beans and chips. Two sausages, one large, one small. Tomato. Bacon. A fried slice. And extra beans.
A cup...... of tea.
Gareth Hunt. Popular British Actor from the period! He played a couple of other roles in the film too.
I agree this is great to see Chris smile
Never seen this before. Big PSB fan.

Chris had a hot smile!
The Dummy sounds like an impression of Peter Cook's E.L. Wisty.

What does Dummy says at 0:17? I want to translate.
Is English your language? I understood it as, “she’s got a nice pair of legs, isn’t she?”
