MAN V12 1000 hp Engine Extracted from Excalibur

Harbour Marine have recently taken out the starboard engine from Excalibur, one of North Sea Logistics' windfarm personnel transfer vessels, at Pwllheli Marina, North Wales.
Harbour Marine Engineering Services are authorised dealers for GRAND RIBs and Pro Fish day fishing boats and also have a selection of used boats for sale.

They are authorised agents for service, repair and sale of Suzuki, Mercury, Tohatu outboards as well as Mercury Mercruiser, Doosan, Beta Marine and Yanmar inboard engines.
Harbour Marine Engineering is based in a purpose built workshop at Pwllheli Marina. The workshop features state-of-the-art equipment to ensure their experienced engineers can service, repair and maintain all inboard and outboard engines.
In addition to marine engineering and RIB and boat sales, they also offer park and launch, winterisation, storage, all boatyard services, parts and chandlery and trailers.

These engines weigh about 2500kg each, that's 100kg per litre of displacement. They are very heavy for their power. I wonder why not make them out of aluminium.

Gotta be able to handle the compression and torque. And not just in short bursts, they gotta hold for hours at a time.
