The world is upside down now. It’s not about the numbers with this car. Never was. It was ALWAYS about the emotion. That’s history. At least you had a rich history with what the car truly was- you know its soul well my friend.
This is why I appreciate better old cars, it might not look good or luxury or whatever, but nothing competes with how fun is to drive it!!

I live in Australia, this car costs about $210,000 AUD here. Well used ones are popping up now (its been on sale here since January) and the cheapest ones are down to $165,000 AUD, and *they only have about 5,000 kilometres on them!* Not only that, but I saw some guy list his W206 C63 for sale in April, with a price of $205,000 AUD. 3 months later, he's asking just $177,000 AUD. Not a single person wants it.

I mean.. The new "C63s" Looks amazing from inside and Outside.. It it fast... It has a lot of new features etc etc... But... Power and how it look.. is not all... It doesn't sound like C63s... most ppl (and me as well) want a PROPER SOUND... Sound of a V8... Not a fuckin 2.0L Engine... I mean look under the hood.. There is a lot of free space.. Enought space to put a 4L V8 engine from the 205 model... Another thing... AMG DOESN'T NEED ANY HYBRID ENGINES!!!! No, we don't want this... We want a ONE ENGINE IN OURS CARS!! ONE... JUST ONE... God.. Can't believe Mercedes do something like this to an AMG... There is absolutely no chance Im gonna trade my W205 C63S for this... NEVER... EVER!!! This C63 is almost as heavy as my 2014, 7-seater Mercedes GL550 SUV. That's insane.
I'll keep my Mercedes 5.5L V8 with x-pipe and tune. Sounds so much better than a 4-cyl.

Without the V8, nothing else matters. I would have bought a 2024 C63 if it was a coupe with a V8 but I brought a Lexus LC 500 Instead because it still has a V8 and I could care less that it's not as fast, that doesn't matter 99% of the time on the street.
This should be the c43 with no electric motors same as a45s

This really doesn't get enough attention. The car manufacturers will sell whatever makes them money; they don't care. Folks keep complaining to the manufacturers when they are just trying comply to the government regulations that get tighter and tighter every year.

It used to be when you fired up your C63, people would notice. Even non-enthusiasts knew a little sedan should not sound like that. With this C63, it sounds just like the Honda Civic next to it in the parking lot. I am truly disappointed it has come this. Go buy your V8’s now folks and hold on to them! They are dying off like manual transmissions.

Why does merc decided to make the front of the car wider than the rear? It looks funny. They are trying to make it look like a 3 wheel car or something 😆
They wanted to do something like BMW with the M3/M4 but didn't get the budged to do it. So they just made the fenders wider, which is pretty cheap.
At idle it kind of sounds like the Altima 2.5s lol

No V8? NO THANKS! not that I can afford it regardless but still my point stands.
The reason they went with this engine is two fold in my opinion. AMG invested so much in the AMG ONE flagship that they thought they could recoupe the investment by applying this hybrid technology to the C, E and S model. Besides, who doesn’t want more HP, right? Obviously they didn’t get that right. The second reason is the car emissions regulations. MB has to reduce the qty of V8 engines, so they are keeping the V8 for the G63, SL, GT, S class and so on. That said, I for one think it would of been wiser to have the C43 and the. C63 with the M256 six cyl. Engine. Great engine, it can offer superb performance and sound. But now that AMG has boxed themself in with 671 HP using a 4 cylinder, how will they resolve this major problem. It’s a long road to build up a brand but as we can all see, doesn’t take much to kill it. As far as I’m concerned, AMG dies in 2015 upon the dilution of the brand. It’s over folks, time to move on to another brand.
I thought I read somewhere due to slow sales, MBZ was going to stop selling these and go back to the V8s.😎

It’s a shame .. if they want to do stuffe like this with a 4 cylinder engine in a car like this , they should at least let the V8 option stay , so people who don’t want to use so much money on gas and don’t care about sound , they could choose this option … it’s like when you live in a skyscraper where there are only stairs, and you then upgrade to an elevator, then you don’t take the stairs away from the building.. it’s really stupid not to keep both options.
The most disappointing new AMG lmao (in my opinion) the interior and exterior is nice but then engine is just a no for me.
It works really well in the A45S and CLA45S. I am really impressed about what AMG have achieved here from an engineering standpoint, but I can't help but think i'd so much rather just buy an A45S. Not to mention i'll probably never use this car to its full potential.

Best Review Title of all C63 Reviews!! Spot on. By the way, it is interesting that back in 2010, the w221 S250 CDI Diesel S-Class was also a 4 Cylinder that "did not match the car". However, a lot of people liked the small torquey Diesel in a luxury sedan and so there was no big PR desaster as we see with the new C63. Of course: You could still get the "state of thr art" 500/550 v8 so everyone was able to choose... but you get the point...

Most of the non hardcore carguys are finally getting that, just like you said at 25:33, performance was never everything. Same reason why people loved Vtec Honda engines, it was always about how fun, how it made you feel when driving

Funny watching an AMG guy come full circle just like the e9x M3 guys did 11 years ago. I remember you doing the review of the f80 talking about how BMW lost its way and talking trash about the M division. Glad to see you do the same for the AMG division. Even though you're an AMG guy, it shows you're a car enthusiast first.
Maybe we need to wait for the external exhaust speaker to warm up so we can hear it more? Lol Saw one in person today and man..a turbo/exhaust swap on this car will be a breeze. Easy 1000hp platform. Still prefer a v8 hybrid for sure.

The V8's have, the word you're looking for is, SOUL. This one is missing its soul
The New C63 is not selling because it does not have a v8, it's not selling because it's costly. Yes, a New C63 W205 used to cost up to $100K but you get get it for $90K. Here in Canada the new C63, spec with all you may want is around $130k Canadian. AMG did not miss the point why placing the fuel saving, high power turbo 4 into the C-Class, it MB cost that is causing people to rethink the C63. Anyway, it's the reality of the automotive market since all have to make full electric cars by 2035.

It's not selling because of the astronomical price for a 4 banger and the unbelievable complexity of the drivetrain. This would be a lease only at best. People are terrified if they buy this and a check engine light come on at 50001 miles you might as well take it to the dump. No one, not even the dealership will be able to fix it.
Mike I honestly think your review was very fair. You didn't trash the car. You talked about alot of positive aspects. I've never owned one, but compared to what the C63 AMG has been, it's a great car on its own merit, but it's not a worthy successor. When you have a devoted fan base you must keep them happy!
The only real reason that these European manufactures are killing off fan favorite cars with the V8s, is because they have to. A lot of European countries are committing to banning internal combustion cars by 2035. And Europe has much stricter emissions regulation than we do in North America. So for them to sell their big V8s, Mercedes has to sell a bunch of hybrid/4 cylinder cars to make up for the "higher" emission from the V8s.
Nah, this was just dumb management. Mercedes has enough ev cars to set off for emission targets.
I like the looks, the performance, and the interior. The sound? That's another story.

Its a really cool car if it had a 45 badge or even an evolution of the 45, like "The C46S E-Performance" or something. Since it has F1 tech, F1 derived turbo, so on and so fort. But for the C63S, it should've come with the E63S powertrain; V8 Biturbo 4Matic+... Otherwise, it is a cool car. Not worth 100k though.
the fact they still sell v8s mean they could have easily still kept it in this. BRING IT BACK AMG!!!

It’s really misleading when people talk these hybrid cars up as having 670 HP. You hardly get the combined boost for that much HP. Most of the time it’s only pushing like 450 from the 4-cylinder engine.
I’ve lived with a W206 C43 for a year now and as an *owner* I like it. The only reason I haven’t ordered a C63 is because MB hasn’t integrated the NACS charger port yet. When they do, I’ll upgrade. Your mileage may vary, and if you know, you know.
Which makes sense. 43 has always been the AMG for daily driving, the 63 should be the halo car. Its over the top makes no rational sense and its all emotion.
Old AMG C63S was amazing yeha it not selling because of "4 cylinder" and now its a 4 door but the old one was 2 door amazing car but not goona go with this one loved the video 🔥
I think when a dealership lets you review a car of theirs, it's to promote the dealership and hopefully drum up interest in the car.

I get that some of you guys don’t like it but the 0-60 time is outstanding. I wish my CLA 45s was that quick. I’d have to stage 2 or 3
0-60 is probably the most overrated metric in the car industry that only gives you a minimal fraction of a car's performance and driving experience. The 0-60 can be milliseconds for all people care, but a high-end performance luxury model comes with the expectation of a lively engine and soulful soundtrack, especially when you are paying over $100k

The problem for me is not that it is a 4-cylinder. Strength is force, so a kilo of iron is equal to a kilo of dirt. It is a kilo in the end The real problem here is that this 4-cylinder belongs to Mercedes or Renault.
Mercedes themselves have confirmed that the CLE 63 will have the 4.0 TT V8.
The average driver doesn't need speed. They want something that looks good, sounds good and makes them giggle on the inside every time they fire it up.
Mercedes did a favor for us Europeans. Instead of paying a car tax of $3000 per year or more for a v8 6.3 liter AMG, now we pay $70 per year for the same AMG with a 2 liter 4 cylinders. Same goes for mandatory insurance, which dropped considerably. Maybe in US and Middle East it's bad news, but in Europe we celebrate :D

I find that I had to really take my eyes off the road to use that central infotainment screen that’s below the level of the dash. My current M4 with the big screens up nice and high, and even the awkward iPad style from my W205 C63, have the screens at eye level so you just have to glance right to use the screen. Oh and…very happy I had the option to “only” lose two cylinders with my new M4. And it’ll do 2.8s launches all day long 😅

Sexy looking car. That engine is sad. Couldn’t even go to a 6-cylinder. Also, crazy to pay $100k for a 4-cylinder which is also the heaviest, even more then a 8-cylinder.
If you want to spend a 100k plus or minus on an AMG, find a 2017-18 SL 65 AMG with low mileage. I did - 5,000 miles!! Absolutely nothing like a V-12 with a mechanical differential stuffed into a modern SL. Buy one while you still can. They’re getting few and far between.
Just an FYI, after an inspection by the local Mercedes dealer, I was able to buy a 6 year warranty for a very reasonable cost.
Rumor was that Mercedes was going back to a 8 cyl after the first year of the 4 , I guess that wasn’t the case at all
