The 2025 RAM 1500 RHO Isn't A Next Gen TRX, And That's OK With Me...

- RAM says the new RAM RHO won't replace the TRX in the lineup, despite sharing oh-so-much with the outgoing supercharged monster. The frame, basic suspension geometry and 4WD system have all been lifted from the old TRX, and joining it is the same widebody sheetmetal, launch control, and adaptive damper tech. But what didn't come over is the price tag. This RHO will start at a still lofty $69,995 (plus $1,995 destination charge), but... That's more than $15,000 less than the old TRX. To make the deal more interesting, RAM says there won't be any kind of artificial limits on production so hopefully that will keep dealer markups at bay.

My current truck purchased new in 2002 was a Dodge 2500 4x4, Cummins HO, 6 SP manual at 33k/ $470 for 60 months. Although I was still working ( retired now ), I almost " choked " every month making such a outrageous payment 😅
Don't know how people afford the cost of these new vehicles now. 😮

Im actually impressed. Despite having less power and no glorious V8 sound, it still performs better than the TRX in a lot of areas. And a 0-60 rated at 4.6 seconds. To put that to perspective, The TRX was rated at 4.5! Less weight works wonders. And the starting price is pretty good too.
I’ve done 0-60 in my TRX in 3.8 seconds bone stock.
@@binostunts : Redline Reviews also got a similar time in the TRX they tested. It will be interesting to see if the RHO ends up being faster than the official time too.

Thanks for mentioning the 2kW AC 120V power output. That is great to see that it is much higher than 400W.
I personally would never pay 65k for any vehicle regardless if I could afford it or not. But if I had a moment of insanity I would buy this in a moment over the 2024 Tacoma with far less amenities in a heartbeat.
This looks like the sweet spot in performance off road trucks to me! I love straight sixes anyway, hopefully they’ll be bulletproof, I’ll give it a year or two before buying one.
$10K dealer markup on RHO, minimum, I expect.

I have both, 2022 TRX and Rebel. Both amazing trucks. Love V8 power, sad to see it go. But let face it people can’t afford the fuel prices anymore.

Passenger screen has HDMI input, which is excellent and flexible.
People trolled *gm* for going the Silverado ZR2 route not offering a TRX competitor and now there isn’t even a TRX in production and the Chevrolet is the only one offering a V8 in the space. That’s absolutely hilarious to me.
And now Ford is the only one with the ultimate super truck now

@@G-Rated im talking about supertruck with a v8. hummer ev is in a different class altogether, based on weight alone. gm doesn't have one although they could use the same engine in the escalade v and tune it to put out more horsepower. ford had an ev f150 called the lightning, ram isn't on the market yet. silverado ev and sierra ev look like avalanches more than traditional trucks

I'm guessing the trx will have the inline six too but they will dump the turbos for a massive supercharger . A hellcat 2.7 liter supercharger on a 3.0 liter i6 with the engine and supercharger are basically the same displacement why not.....
A massive supercharger needs hp to drive it and an inline 6 isn’t going to be as capable of that. Will it work? Sure. Will it be more efficient when it comes to fuel economy and producing power with the boost it gets? Highly doubt it. I’m going to guess the trx will get slightly bigger turbos or will add a hybrid system to the same engine the rho has

@@Deke1 those were half-ton and HD trucks. The mid-size market is a different ball game in another ballpark. Stellantis would have to figure out how to sell a Dakota that wouldn’t interfere with potential buyers for the half-ton RAM cannibalizing sales, and competing with the GMC Canyon and Chevrolet Colorado, and arguably the Ranger, it won’t be an easy feat. for Dodge. Perhaps they’ll try it in some way. It will be costly, many would argue it isn’t worth the time wasted. I could see them marketing a hybrid Dakota, but again, that price would be up there with the Tacoma. Knowing Stellantis it may even exceed the prices of the Tacoma, and *gm* and Ford will eat cake. Either way, honestly.
@@G-Rated Midsize Truck is coming, the full size truck market sales is slowing rapidly.....reports are the rampage, a midsized truck is in the works..The problem with Dakota was the price of the midsized bled into the prices of the Ram fullsized.....Trucks are going to become smaller going forward, Stellantis needs to get into the game, probably with their new platform.

It is amazing that car companies are giving us what used to be the base engines while dramatically increasing prices.
Alex i agree with you 100% on the passenger screen. Waste of money especially considering the main display does not interact with that HDMI input even in park. All this just for the passenger and no one else. The Level 2 package is great. Unfortunately this comes included.
Price context is crazy. The base trx for model year 2021 started at 70k

Not to me. It sounds like a new truck. The tailgate sounds like a standard work truck tailgate too. Personally, I like the sound of hearing the door latch... mechanically latch. Not just a dampend "whump" sound. What are you haring when they close?

If ram had a brain they'd have a 4xe on this 3.0, getting it up towards that trx power. Imagine another 160hp out of an electric motor and all the extra torque.

@AAutoBuyersGuide fully aware of what's coming out. I'm saying not having the 3.0t on a short range 4xe like system was a huge miss, as they'd be able to sell 7 of them for every ramcharger with the same # of batteries
As the owner of a 10-year-old Ram Laramie hemi.... I always thought it would be really great if they were some type of a midpoint option available.... It seemed out of whack that your two choices were either 400 horsepower or 700 horsepower... I always thought 550 was a good number ... Of course I wish they offered it as just a $5,000 engine option... and not an entirely "seperate model" ...you know maybe just a 5.7 with a supercharger. Although this seems like a good compromise, And who doesn't love the wine body look.... I just wish it had the sound...
Ohhh and final point, why. WHY does it need to be full time all wheel drive ? Definitely not helping that MPG number

I don’t like that it looks so similar to my TRX. I wish the body style would have changed some but it makes sense. Raptor - Raptor R share a body so TRX - RHO sharing one is similar.
But the RHO just like Amy other vehicle isn't going to put 540HP to the ground... hell I have a TRX Final Edition and it only puts 580 to the ground out of its 702, which means this thing is basically gonna net 400 to the tires if you're lucky...

So far it’s not a popular option, so “most folks” is a bit of a stretch. You find it standard on some trims, but RAM admitted that it’s a very low take option on there trims where it is a separate option.
I really hate vertical screens. Had it in my S, realy wish manufactures would stop adopting it.
So long as the screen is not tilted towards the driver, vertical or horizontal don’t bother me. I HATE when then tilt the shit towards the driver

This truck with a tune will be better than a TRX. The big motor on the TRX is heavy and makes the truck feel so heavy.

540 hp from a 3.0L twin turbo... I dont think even BMW does that kind of output from their 3.0L, other than maybe the M4 CSL. The Hurricane High Output is likely more ubiquitous. Whoever buys these Hurricane High Outputs will be Ram's beta testers for reliability.
Tbh that's every brand. Even toyo atm, with their new I4 powered taco.
@@carboydorifutoparty3976 yes true, but the high output engine is at like 26 pounds boost. The taco engine engine i dont think is boosted that high. these are "everyday" engines, and running high boost on daily driven vehicles doesnt sound like a recipe for long life.
@@ncvwrx2759 thing is, it more than likely won't see that 26psi 24/7,and at best will see maybe 10-12psi at best if they're driving normally. It'll only see 26psi if the driver has their foot to the floor tbh, same can easily be applied to the G80 bmws, they make about 20-22psi,but don't ever see that much unless the drivers putting their foot down on every stop light. This can honestly be thrown at any turbo engine tbh,that heavy footed individuals or those who aggressively have their foot down on the gas all the time are the ones that end up killing their turbos lifespan the fastest.

They would have made more power with the 392 RAm 1500 and Would be a V8 - in-line 6 really ? POS and if it was a 392 it would have make it 10k cheaper making it a 60k vehicle
Weights 150lbs less. If they wanted, they could've easily threw the same amount of power at the 6 they'd have a truck that'd outperform and weight less than a TRX. This is supposed go against a base V6 raptor while being cheaper + having more power because the V6 raptor is about 10k more new vs this.

Ram didn’t do anything! No 37 tire package! No wider marker lights, No upgraded suspension, No open exhaust nothing just one more screen! 540HP is a big downgrade from the TRX but ok compared to v6 Raptor, I would go with the Raptor.
