these sound beautiful, and are great for dexterity. using root pos first and second pos second and running thru the cycle of fourths is a special kind of brain torture

For sure! Both with combining inversions and doing the same inversion (your hand is moving all over the fretboard.) Definitely a challenging technical exercise as well. Just gets you thinking differently than most guitarists!
