On this budget, I think I'd look at a 2 year old Truck with say 50,000 on the clock and have a King-Ranch. It's barely run in at that anyway, and probably just as dependable as a newun. Less of a depreciation hit too. But that's just me. I do understand the appeal of having a brand new vehicle though, so I couldn't blame anyone for choosing this Truck. You pays your money etc.....
Just the person I am looking for. I'm trying to decide on a new American truck (Ford/Chevy) but have the option for a 2011 LR4. I need the seating, towing and prefer the reliability. Do you have any suggestions?
Love your videos! Thanks for educating us more on the gas engine that most UA-cam channels seem to overlook. Not a bad package but the lack of a center armrest is a deal breaker.
Personally I think that Toyota has the best approach to an opening rear window. Having the entire panel slide down like all the side windows is kinda neat and it could offer so pretty good access to the box from in the cab. I'm not a huge fan of the way a sliding window looks or how it catches lots of dust, etc.
That center “mini” console is not typical and a fleet only option and would not be typical. Most of these would have 40-20-40 bench with flip down console. The vinyl flooring is not “premium” but standard. There is a premium vinyl option on higher trim levels that includes padding under it that the standard vinyl does not have.
Good review. I paid about the same for my 2017 F250 Lariat with the 6.7 PSD. Took a lot of shopping to find it though. I have a company vehicle so I typically drive my truck on the weekends and for longer trips. A lot of that is towing or hauling. My F150 sat for weeks on end because it only got 13mpg. This one is even worse. My father in law has the 6.2 and the milage is horrible and he's said he didn't want to deal with the DEF in the diesel, but would buy it now if he could. I have towed 13k+ and the power of the diesel was fantastic to have. As far as maintenance, it's not as bad as most would have others believe. Yes, more oil and fuel filters are added to the cost, but at the required intervals, it's not really a big issue. The regen of the diesel is a minor inconvenience that I don't care for, but worth the trouble for the power and mileage I get. I would not buy a diesel truck at full price with what they're wanting for them which is why it took so long to find.
I love Fords they have been my truck of choice for years and in 2015 I decided to try a Ram 2500 4X4 Crew Cab with an 8ft. long box Tradesman 2 with the 6.4 LTR Hemi engine and so far I really like the truck. It is a tall truck and I did install running boards and mud flaps and the cab has the clearance lamps on the cab plus its all setup for a 5th wheel or gooseneck trailer, it has a nice center console that lifts up into a center seat. I only paid $37,900 for it New and it came with the 18" Firestone TransForce TA Tires which are really great tires. The interior on my Ram puts this 2017 Ford F250 to shame and plus the Ford sells for around $7,000 more than the Ram. Ford needs to step up its game if they are going to compete with Chevy and Ram. The Ford in this video is really stripped down for such a high price tag. I still love Fords but they need to step back and take a hard look at what their competitors are offering for a lesser price tag. Chevy I'm not sure what their trucks are offering and their prices but I will say they have some really sweet looking trucks on the road.
bring it home I guess but why would you want to have to worry about it if you do go offroad? I solid axel swapped my zr2 s10 after it left me fucked in the middle of nowhere for the second time
I have a 2016 Super Duty with 6.2. I've had it just over 2 years and really love it. It's got more than enough power to haul my 4500# camper and the sound the engine makes as I accelerate is a treat in itself. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that does a lot of driving. It works for me because I only take it out once or twice per month. I'm satisfied getting 10-11 mpg hwy because the miles are so low. If you plan on driving a 6.2 Super Duty 10K or more yearly, you'll need deep pockets for fueling.
Clarence Aaron Jones I don't know about that I have a 2011 F250 6.2 it's my daily driver I've driven it ever since I got it in 2010 I get about 10 miles a gallon of E85 in about 12 on gasoline cost me about 60 bucks a week to fill it up
Perry2186 if you're ok with 10-12 mpg with your gasser as opposed to 18 you could get with the Powerstroke, that's great. But like I said, I wouldn't recommend it unless you live in a state where the price of diesel is much higher than gas.
Awesome review. I have had many flavors of the F250-F350. The quality from 2011 to 2015 was improved to a huge degree and much better now. The gasser is the ticket. I float around the XL-XLT. If you shop hard the XLT can be had cheaply enough. The rubber flooring is the only way to go if you really use these trucks. The undersides are just as beautiful as the outside these days. I got a 6.7L in 2011 ( first year) only because they had a $9K rebate. After the warranty the diesel is just too complicated to deal with. Oh the vinyl interior is the bomb. Ford cloth isn't attractive and now is like $995. option. Many people thought my vinyl interior was leather-really! Great review.
Just purchased a 2012 6.2 getting empty 14 mpg doing 60. Haven’t had a chance to tow yet but am certainly excited to see how it pulls my 23’ trailer. A bit overkill but the payload was the winner which I believe is rated at 3k. It was this or the Tundra and the more I looked into it the less a Tundra appealed for me and my family needs. A great truck for occasional towing. The ride is a little rough over some roads but I expected that being a truck. A buddy of mine has continued to buy diesels even when both of his Fords crapped out. He bought a third. Smh. Too many stories about diesel which made me go gas. Safe travels all.
After seeing how the STX is equipped it amazes me how some of the oilfield companies would order their XL Superdutys. I bought a 2011 F250 CCLB 4wd 6.7 that was ordered for one of the bigger oil services fleets with all of the features to the point that the only difference between this truck and an XLT was the lack of chrome, rear seat cupholders, power seat, carpet (I preferred the rubber floors anyway) and the automatic headlights. It came with backup sensors, SYNC, and the steering wheel radio controls. On top of that the company had also put replacement bumpers on both ends, headache racks, and B&W hitches. Just because the truck says XL on the side doesn't mean it's guaranteed to have manual windows...and no arm rests ;)
A trailer jackknife poked a hole in the bed of our F-150. The aluminum tore like paper. It’s been almost a year since, and the tear has gotten larger. Additionally, the paint has begun to peel. The most inconvenient factor is that the bed can not be repaired, it must be replaced.
That’s a good review of the truck, I bought the F 250 XLT with the gas engine and it’s 4 wheel drive with manual locking hubs and manual 4 wheel shift lever on the floor, I don’t need 4 wheel drive but all the dealers didn’t have the 2 wheel drive model and I got mine with the 8 foot bed I’am very happy with this truck and I had to put running boards on it and Ford made that easy to do they put studs into the body so the mounting brackets just bolt up no drilling needed, in all it’s a very nice truck.
just an FYI when you state the towing capacity you should state that the 4.30 ratio is required for those towing numbers. and most gas trucks are ordered with 3.73 which limits your towing to 12,000
Currently driving a 6.7 diesel just came out of warranty and the egr valve needed to be replaced 2,000$ fix, going to trade for the 7.3 gas as soon as I can, I know it won't have as much pulling power, but I'm hoping it is cheaper to run/fix.
Bought a new F350 single cab with this motor and theres lots of pull and it takes a while to get used to the manly ride. Love it and this video is good
Eric Haley yes they do. I loved my 11 F-150 with a 6-2. Only reason I got rid of it it's cuz I need an 8 foot bed. I do like the 6-2 it's got really good power for a gas motor but I'm not as impressed with it in the bigger trucks as I am the smaller F-150.
Good review. My work truck is basically the same as the review, a 2017 F250 XL standard cab 6.2L motor. Now for my observations after 6 months of driving it. My old work truck was a 2000 Chevy standard cab 6.0L gas motor. So you will see my perspective. I don’t like the new Ford. It’s much bigger than my old Chevy. So it’s a pain in the ass to park around town or in parking lots. Also, it feels really weird with the throttle response, the computer controls the throttle rather than your foot. But my biggest complaint is the fuel mileage, I’m only getting 8-8.5 mpg around town in this Ford. If I personally owned this truck, I couldn’t afford to drive it. Also, the ride is a bit more choppy than my old Chevy, important if you drive a lot like I do for work. And like was mentioned, the Ford sits higher, so you are literally climbing into the truck, I had to get running boards to make that a bit easier. But I expect the boards to get smashed one day off-roading. Now I tow with this truck, it has plenty of power, more than my old Chevy. I’m towing fork lifts, tractors, big mowers, usually over 15,000GVW. So that’s a plus. Over all, I don’t think it’s worth the $40,000 my job paid for it. Heck, I could buy a small house with that amount of money. Of course I’m a silly Luddite, who personally owns an old 1981 F250 4x4 manual trans 300 six. 😎
I moved from the 2011 1/2 ton Ecoboost to the 2018 6.2 F250 and will say the ride is for sure stiffer but the trade off is when you hit bigger/harsher bumps. When those bumps in the road are bigger or harsher it is not as jolting as it is in the half ton. One other not, without the console that truck needs armrests!
Nice to see something without $20,000 worth of options but kinda sad they made the inside look so damn cheap. It would have been better to have a bench seat up front.
Thanks for the great review. I have been looking at these on the lot. You know much more about these trucks than most of the sales people I have met. Very helpful.
2013 f250 6.2 gassser here. Pros: Great power, not diesel but pretty good. Handles payload great. Seatbelt stopped retracting one year in otherwise no problems. Cons: Rides kinda rough but it’s a truck. Stupid low tire air warning system that sounds everytime you start the truck when a tire is below 80 psi. I don’t want that high psi in my rears unless I’m loaded or towing. Ford, either make the alarm adjustable by the owner or put the system on its own breaker so we can disable it.
Look on Ford forums for a program called Forscan. You can change many of the factory parameters (including tire pressure) with the software via an OBD adapter for under $50.
Dan Krueger You could always just get one with the fold down seat/console. They're actually cheaper than the sorry excuse for a console in this one (I have no clue how that makes sense)
Pretty much my exact truck! Love it! But I have cloth, center seat that folds down, carpet and a back up camera. Love the truck but she is thirsty! But I can put a lot of gas in it
I just watched this 11/2024, i bought mine 2 years ago used with 14k miles on it. Got the XLT, so far so good. But now im starting to change some features like all that chrome, its gotta go. And why black carpeting in a truck with a gray interior, it shows every speck of dirt. Nice review, thanks. I discovered i have an ashtray.
That 6.2 V8 is best paired with a 4.30 rear end. With personal experience the truck just did not seem to have enough get up with the 3.73 rear end, which is going to negatively impact Towing performance
I have a 2013 150 with 6.2 in it and its not a raptor , i tell everyone go fine a halfton with a 6.2 you love it 18.4 on the highway , 16 mpg average, and 13 to 14.9 when pulling 2000 to 5000 lbs
I have a 2019 F250 crew cab 4x4 STX. Great truck, but tiny screen. Solved that problem. I use my cellular I pad pro for google maps on long trips. Good enough.
Good review, I've been waiting for this one for awhile! I think you might be the first one on youtube to review a gasser. I was hoping it would be more impressive however. I think Ford missed an opportunity here to really bump the numbers up on their 6.2. Keep up the good work! These things are rated to pull 15,000 pounds! Could you actually see yourself hauling that kind of weight with that gas truck?
Diesel engines are for people who work their trucks in the ground, they're not grocery getters. If you live on the road and are constantly driving them at highway speeds they'll last, If it's sits too much they won't.
My understanding is that steel can be popped out on a light dent. Aluminum can not be popped out because it streaches as it creases. I owned an aluminum 2015 f150 now I have a steel 2016 f250. Edit: Also the 2015 seemed when closing the doors to be extremely solid thud, on the f250 it almost sound cheap and does not give that confident sound I got from the 15. Just my personal experience.
Thank you so much for this review, it was extremely helpful in making my choice in getting a new truck since you made a very detailed review on a truck most people can afford
The only real benefit of the diesel today is if you want to have the top of the line and most powerful engine offered, or for towing. Everything else, cost, maintenance, emissions, etc. are better with the gas.
I have looked at a new F250 optioned almost the same as this one. It is a very nice heavy duty truck. One thing though is the ride height of the truck. Without the optional step bars it is a real bear to get into and out of because of the door sill height.
Nice truck! I like the FX4/STX package + upfitter switches! Hoever, I would prefer the addition of the rear park sensors and back-up cam, Dana M300/4:30 ratio and bench seat up front for seating for (6) flesh vessels.
way better choice than the Eco boost V6 . AS for getting any body damage on the aluminium body campaired to the steel is not to many people know how to properly work with aluminium, that would be my biggest worry as I use my truck as a truck & it can get a little beat up sometimes.
Beautiful and tough looking truck with the updated 6.2L. Really like it, but think I would try and stretch for the XLT model to get some of the extra features. Definitely needs the side steps - that is a very high step-in for sure. Very impressive payload and towing numbers. Great job!
Thanks for the review. The video really showed this trim level is not for everyone. The lack of arm rests for the front passengers is one thing but there's no way my kids would reach that rear cup holder. I didn't see or hear mention of rear air vent that was pointed out in the Silverado videos...are they in this truck? Also, I think the tow rating for the 3.73 gear option is around 12,500 lbs with the 4:30 gears coming in at 15k with this truck. I am finding these trucks with the 4:30 gear are difficult to find.
You do a good job with your video. I really like the fact you use a tape measure for certain features. One thing I've wondered is at its tallest point of the truck how tall is it? In a stock position the new 250s look too tall to go into a 7 foot garage.
when your ready I have a rack of various metal drops waiting to try out those body panels. Also would be Intrested to see the PSI it takes to bump in a bedside aluminum vs steel on inadvertent shopping carts and such.
I got a 2015 6.2 f250 a couple weeks ago . Computer says I’m averaging about 12.2 mpg I do mostly highway driving ... it uses less gas than my 1982 Chevy K5 that’s for sure

In America, Land Rover is unreliable and become endless money pits as they age.
Love your videos! Thanks for educating us more on the gas engine that most UA-cam channels seem to overlook. Not a bad package but the lack of a center armrest is a deal breaker.
weird, my XL came with am arm rest, which raises to allow for the bench sit.
Personally I think that Toyota has the best approach to an opening rear window. Having the entire panel slide down like all the side windows is kinda neat and it could offer so pretty good access to the box from in the cab. I'm not a huge fan of the way a sliding window looks or how it catches lots of dust, etc.
Vinyl flooring is now an upgrade..lol
My 3/4 ton ram rides like a forklift
I own a 2017 Ram 2500 and you are 100% correct lol
I have a 2016 Ram and I thought I rides great compared to my old 1994 F250 HD
Still funny though
ifs rides better sure but solid is way more rugged
bring it home I guess but why would you want to have to worry about it if you do go offroad?
Aluminum can be welded.
The tape measure really helped to visualize the spacing figures that most other reviews simply just list. Great review, thanks.
xlt premium package is 3k
has centre console in leather and big Nsync 8" screen with cameras!👍 sooo wrth it.
That thing is spec'ed like a cop car, I like it. Not much fluff, no carpeting. Dig it.
That’s a good review of the truck, I bought the F 250 XLT with the gas engine and it’s 4 wheel drive with manual locking hubs and manual 4 wheel shift lever on the floor, I don’t need 4 wheel drive but all the dealers didn’t have the 2 wheel drive model and I got mine with the 8 foot bed I’am very happy with this truck and I had to put running boards on it and Ford made that easy to do they put studs into the body so the mounting brackets just bolt up no drilling needed, in all it’s a very nice truck.
just an FYI when you state the towing capacity you should state that the 4.30 ratio is required for those towing numbers. and most gas trucks are ordered with 3.73 which limits your towing to 12,000
www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/17RV&TT_Ford_SuperDtyPU_Sep9.pdf
Currently driving a 6.7 diesel just came out of warranty and the egr valve needed to be replaced 2,000$ fix, going to trade for the 7.3 gas as soon as I can, I know it won't have as much pulling power, but I'm hoping it is cheaper to run/fix.
More reliable than the powerstroke.
Bought a new F350 single cab with this motor and theres lots of pull and it takes a while to get used to the manly ride. Love it and this video is good
damn. Ford needs to put that big motor back in the F150.
Eric Haley they are putting a 3 liter diesle engine in the 2018 f 150
Eric Haley yes they do. I loved my 11 F-150 with a 6-2. Only reason I got rid of it it's cuz I need an 8 foot bed. I do like the 6-2 it's got really good power for a gas motor but I'm not as impressed with it in the bigger trucks as I am the smaller F-150.
Eric Haley raptor has the 6.2 at 425hp.
250 6.2 are rated at 360 hp and 150 with a 6.2 are at raptor setting at 411 hp
Just bought a 2017 super duty fx4 with a 6.2 gaz love it and it pull
I moved from the 2011 1/2 ton Ecoboost to the 2018 6.2 F250 and will say the ride is for sure stiffer but the trade off is when you hit bigger/harsher bumps. When those bumps in the road are bigger or harsher it is not as jolting as it is in the half ton. One other not, without the console that truck needs armrests!
Nice to see something without $20,000 worth of options but kinda sad they made the inside look so damn cheap. It would have been better to have a bench seat up front.
Robert DeMilo mine has the front split bench love it!
I have a XLT has a 40/20/40 seat. The middle back rest flips down to a armrest with cup holders
85℅ of people don't need a Diesel
Jake Rheault Maybe 95% lol
Yup. Like 100% lambo or Ferrari owners don't really need a v12 to beat a Honda civic at lights....
monsword yup, it’s all about what you want/can afford
Jake Rheault because of the oil companies and carbon taxes
Yeah i agree.
no arm rest in the middle! are you kidding me. deal breaker for sure. I need an arm rest and a big one. that will hurt sales.
Dan Krueger You could always just get one with the fold down seat/console. They're actually cheaper than the sorry excuse for a console in this one (I have no clue how that makes sense)
Dan Krueger...agreed! Looks uncomfortable for an otherwise good looking truck.
Dan Krueger Yeah that's incredibly disappointing. Almost all base models now even come with decent consoles
TheBCSleddelo lolo ji ji ji ji mi??mi
they should've at least had a jumpseat
6.2 is a more reliable engine than the 6.7. If you're not towing 20klbs, get the 6.2.
1999 f250 v10 best truck I've ever owned!!!!
that's a sharp looking rig. I LOVE the vinyl floor option.
Excellent review. No back up camera and lack of console height would ruin it for me.
All the aerodynamics and style of a brick. But I bet it rides better than my '17 Z71 half ton! My old F350 did!
Pretty much my exact truck! Love it! But I have cloth, center seat that folds down, carpet and a back up camera. Love the truck but she is thirsty! But I can put a lot of gas in it
That chik fil a comment had me rolling🤣🤣
I just watched this 11/2024, i bought mine 2 years ago used with 14k miles on it. Got the XLT, so far so good. But now im starting to change some features like all that chrome, its gotta go. And why black carpeting in a truck with a gray interior, it shows every speck of dirt. Nice review, thanks. I discovered i have an ashtray.
Love your channel and so called 'dork content'! Congrats on the growth and thank you for keeping a city boy (NY, NY) entertained
That 6.2 V8 is best paired with a 4.30 rear end. With personal experience the truck just did not seem to have enough get up with the 3.73 rear end, which is going to negatively impact Towing performance
The 10 speed trans changes all that
i think my only compliant for this truck would be the center console. it would be much nicer if it had a taller one like the other trucks
I work for the county and we have this engine in the f250s, quite powerful... but weak as all get out in the 350 cab chassis with a dump bed
I’m amazed at what a detailed review you did, absolutely amazed 👍👍👍
Thank you for doing this level of in depth review. The extra measurements (internal, step height, etc) are very useful.
I have a 2013 150 with 6.2 in it and its not a raptor , i tell everyone go fine a halfton with a 6.2 you love it 18.4 on the highway , 16 mpg average, and 13 to 14.9 when pulling 2000 to 5000 lbs
I've Got a 2017 Ford F250 Super Duty XLT 6.2. LOVE IT!!!!!
I have a 2019 F250 crew cab 4x4 STX. Great truck, but tiny screen. Solved that problem. I use my cellular I pad pro for google maps on long trips. Good enough.
I love trucks w/o running boards! Looks cleaner and is more capable of road.
Would love to see some towing and RV videos in the mix of truck videos. Enjoy the content regardless.
Great video!!! I just bought an F250 XLT and a Mustang from Autonation. Your videos were extremley helpful.
Another great video, and WOW 60" bed height. Other than no arm rest's which makes no sense too me it was a nice truck.
Thank you for this video. Very well made and informative!
Everything else, cost, maintenance, emissions, etc. are better with the gas.
really not a bad truck spec, like you say, it's got enough switches and gizmos to keep your fingers busy but not maxed out spec.
I've been searching for this exact review and I'm so happy to have finally found it. Great job! And I will be subscribing
Great review just picked up a 18 extended cab short box put a 9 foot fisher hd2 on it it's a tank!
Always order manual 4wd engagement..then you can mod everything to platinum or king ranch as needed. Half the price of $90,000.00
I don't know why people said that the 6.7 diesel engine is bad engine
My 2012 350 never had any issue and it runs like new
The insurance companies are now saying aluminum repair is cheaper. Saw that a few months ago. Can't remember where.
I have a 2011 gas f250 and love it. I would definately get a later model gas 250 over anything else and i used to be a chev guy.
I have looked at a new F250 optioned almost the same as this one. It is a very nice heavy duty truck. One thing though is the ride height of the truck. Without the optional step bars it is a real bear to get into and out of because of the door sill height.
Great review. I', the same on the center console. I could not live without the center console:-) Getting one soon:-)
Nice truck! I like the FX4/STX package + upfitter switches! Hoever, I would prefer the addition of the rear park sensors and back-up cam, Dana M300/4:30 ratio and bench seat up front for seating for (6) flesh vessels.
I have the King Ranch 6.2 FX4 and the thing is a beast. It gets crap milage. 11 mpg at most. But I can give it a pass for that. So nice to drive.
way better choice than the Eco boost V6 . AS for getting any body damage on the aluminium body campaired to the steel is not to many people know how to properly work with aluminium, that would be my biggest worry as I use my truck as a truck & it can get a little beat up sometimes.
I'm considering the f250 17 over the 150 as my dd. I've tested both and f250 feels and drives way better to me than the half ton.
$45K for a truck with an oil pressure gauge that doesn't work.
351WINCHESTER And no damn armrest
351WINCHESTER Right you can get a used 6.7 lariat with less than 50k miles and less than a year old for the same price.
No oil pressure gauges in the dash are accurate
I think the big problem with the aluminium body panels is gonna be getting dents removed. Once aluminium gets bent it doesn't like to straighten out
You do a good job with your video. I really like the fact you use a tape measure for certain features. One thing I've wondered is at its tallest point of the truck how tall is it? In a stock position the new 250s look too tall to go into a 7 foot garage.
Good review. Makes my decision easier to get this truck. I also enjoyed the cruise around my home town CC
Thanks for the video. I am looking to retiring my 1984 F150 to a summer vehicle only. As I also want to get a 5th wheel camper so this was helpful.
strongproudandfree: glad I could help!
strongproudandfree How many miles does you're 84 F150 have.
172 000 kilometers (Canada).
strongproudandfree Those are outstanding Kilometers.
Thanks for the thoughtful review😊
Driving by Dewey’s and not stopping for a game just hurts lol
when your ready I have a rack of various metal drops waiting to try out those body panels. Also would be Intrested to see the PSI it takes to bump in a bedside aluminum vs steel on inadvertent shopping carts and such.
great review nice to see Corps Christi represented well.
Is it normal for the 6.2 engine to make a tick sound? Your video highlighted the sound from your audio.
Very nice truck. I like The STX model.
I got a 2015 6.2 f250 a couple weeks ago . Computer says I’m averaging about 12.2 mpg I do mostly highway driving ... it uses less gas than my 1982 Chevy K5 that’s for sure
Is it available with a standard shift?
