    You remind me of my two brothers. They’ll tackle any job. I only tackle the easy jobs. I hire experts for the hard jobs.

      Pretty much. There are huge upsides and downsides to both. I’m very aware of how much $$ I’m saving and what I’m learning, but these things take up valuable time I’ll never get back.👊

    Jamie, the only suggestion I have is to put switch in the pump line so you can shut the pump off if you need to work on it. Good luck and keep the good stuff coming.

    I know just enough about plumbing to know that I shouldn't be fooling with big plumbing. I could sweat a joint like nobody's business back in the day. And I replaced a sump pump while standing in 2-1/2 feet of freezing water. Fixed a few toilets and leaky shower heads. That's pretty much it. Wish I knew enough to help you out with your projects.
    Being alone - time to reflect. It can be healthy if it doesn't get you down. Looks like you'll be fine; you're just trying on the newness of being alone for a bit. The lightness of it can be invigorating, renewing your energy and confidence to get things done! Have a great Sunday, Jamie!

    Usually the check valves are nothing but a ball & seat..defective seat or ball can cause a lot of problems..

  • @1frogass1
    @1frogass1 Рік тому +5

    If there is no hole, water below a check valve drains back into the pit and compresses the air left in the pipe, which could prevent water from leaving the pump the next time it tries to empty the basin.

    Lol those homebase projects are something else. We are hand in hand to be miles apart. I just got water here after 2 1/2 years of haulingb it in.. I'm in Alabama and it's getting pretty warm and humid so in a couple weeks me and the doggos are jumping in the van and heading to Colorado for elevation and cooler temps. Leaving the projects until fall.
    See ya down the road😊

    At a property I owned years ago, I hired a well guy cuz I had no water. They pulled the pump 😳 150 ft! (I lived on top of a rock table). Turns out, the well was dry, pump was fine. Just had to wait for Mother Nature to make rain.

    You already probably know this but,,,,,, how many amps does the 110V pump pull at start-up and running? How many amps can the connecting wire pull? How many amps is the breaker? If they're within the specs it'll run forever! After you get this completely installed,,,,, you'll be all wet!

    • @enigmaticnomadics
      @enigmaticnomadics  Рік тому

      Lol, looks like #14 wire from the pump. Also #14 running up the casing to the pressure switch. 30 amp service at the fuse. 30 amp fuse. I suppose I could drop the fuse to 20 amp.

    Swedged nipple.... I've done jet pumps, piston pumps, but never had to do a submersible. Don't know anything about the weep hole.

    We are glad to see the update Jamie, Maybe down the road as you get important things down another little friend could be adopted from the local shelter. We been through that feeling, Twice,,Last year when our Dog Frank, our youtube channel logo mascot passed away it was rough but a blessing happened only four days later We adopted Wilma who looks almost like Frank and is sweet and funny. A little friend is good security, and keep the "presents" of comfort around you. We wish you the best always.Cheers Jamie👩‍❤‍👨

    Looking good. Not sure what the hole is for, I would need to google. For the black flex pipe, you can take a propane torch and slowly heat it up on the O.D. to make it somewhat playable and before it cools push it onto the 1” hose barb, hold it for a couple seconds until it cools and clamp it down. it will conform to the ribs of the hose barb on the I.D. Let your pump run open to allow mud and debris to exit the line, befor you hook it up to the house system. Peace 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    Where I worked we had sump pumps that were so far below ground they had to pump 60 ft or more to drain the sub-basement.
    They all had weep holes below the check valve to make sure the pump would never start up dry and burn out the seals or the motor trying to pump air.
    It only needs to be a small hole to allow the water to fill up the pump casing and the pipe from the bottom.
