@@Skyflairl2p the reason the region is ass at league is because nobody cares about it anymore. If you want to build the player base back up to what it once was. You have to basically release league 2. Overwatch was dead in the water and now you have a bunch of people back on it after years of not touching it. It allows the developers to fix the layers of garbage code they’ve added on to the original game and implement a fresh start for new players and hopefully bring back a bunch of people that used to play the game in a new revamped client. If rito does that, they basically can revive the game in NA and it helps them sell new ultimate skins which they haven’t been able to do because the games code can’t handle it right now
I would have believed in a C9 coached by LS. Those first two weeks were so good to see, I am still mad it ended like that.

I remember when after C9 won NA Finals tons of toxic npc's came spamming "LS was the problem" to LS's chat when he was liveviewing the finals. It was so damn ridiculous as if C9 didn't go 3-0 with LS. But even the bigger thing about that was that those two things didn't even have anything to do with each other so seeing the chat spammed like that was so weird. Literal NPC's not even thinking what they were saying..
We can never honestly know what could have happened with C9 if LS stayed and well it's kinda pointless to speculate as there probably isn't a world where that would have happened, at least not with C9 management as it is and the systems in place. Nonetheless even the short while he was a coach again was truly a breath of fresh air for the scene :(

I will never give up on western teams. The day they win worlds, LS will give me the best content I've ever seen.
The game would be dead by then or something happens and asian teams doesn't give a fck anymore because that will never happen. If you go up against asians in a clean slate where everything is totally equal no one can beat them from everything especially from logical things.

It's much less of an international tournament than it is a regular tournament with 1 team per region that sometimes might not even be the best team, only peaked at the perfect time.

No. because SKT, RNG etc dont scrim NA teams unless you pay the org a bunch. Even then its only a few times. (information from Caedrel). When NA or EU teams go there and scrim, if they get destroyed the team will refuse to scrim because it's a waste of time. at worlds, RNG, SKT, DK, JGD are probably just scrimming each other after the first few times. I think that also gets in the mental of EU and NA and makes them suck even more.

Wouldn't you say G2 and Fnatic had some rosters that were favourites against some of the bottom seeds from LCK/LPL? I guess at MSI they were still underdogs because it's just the first seeds against each other, but honestly right now it feels like Rogue beating DRX or RNG wouldn't even be an upset.
RGE beating TES wouldn't be an upset right now, but thats the exception in my opinion. RNG looks pretty good and their roster is individually better on 4/5 positions. DRX is equalish.

I think if it was somehow possible to take a full NA born roster of academy players and just give them an LPL spot and have a chinese english speaking coach/staff they would become the best western team after like two years of competition unironically just because of the difference in competition and work ethic
It's not just work ethic though. There's a reason why LCK teams are better and LPL teams are better. The culture there is different. Gaming is more often than not, frowned upon in most western countries. Let alone trying to be a 'professional gamer'.
And i don't think that'll change a lot. It's why you see so many good footballers from Brazil and European nations, so many good basketball players from USA. It's the culture they grew up in

So while i agree with that, it still doesn't detract from my point. Korea especially take Esports as a serious thing while Western world treat it as a crude imitation of actual sports.
League needs a superleague i think. 3 teams from each Major region playing Bo3 with playoffs being world cup. Imagine constant Fnc Vs Tes G2 vs t1.

I mean some teams like G2 and FNC have done pretty well in the past. It's just that western teams are content winning LCS/LEC because they get enough money from doing so. They will never form rosters that can draft innovative comps or do anything risky.
2019 G2 was a fucking miracle brought about by Carlos´ ruthlessnes, Caps´ talent and Perkz´ pure ambition, almost set the world of fire, and would be considered one of the most legendary teams ever if they actually managed to do the Grand Slam. But noone seems to remember why it worked, not even the people involved, but everyone claims that they are the proof that the west rose up, the west didnt rise up, G2 just soared and challenged the gods than everyone else was content merely worshipping
they felt like one of the only teams that actually looked at T1 and said "Lets beat those guys", rather than "Maybe we can get a win or two off of them, but they will most likely win", which seems to be the case for western teams till this day, now again including modern G2.
It was also carlos' ruthlessness that put EU behind, sending perkz to NA then rekkles to academy league. He wanted to stay at top even if it meant making the league worse. 2019 G2 is all perkz (both inside and outside the game). Imagine being the best midlaner then becoming 2nd best then roleswapping just so that his team could accommodate the best. No other midlaner would've sacrificed (and achieved) as much. Without perkz G2 look so lost.
as a LPL viewer I have always thought western teams are bad... But FNC actually give me hope so many times and loss horribly it actually trigger me so bad...

If I was a C9 fan why would I care about these things, I can and will only comment on what I saw from their performance at worlds and demand they address the issues either by ensuring the players fix these or another player takes their spot.

Problem is the junglers are too inactive. The teams early game is a flop. They don't have any draft specialisation. Too close minded a mindset too.
Picking your desired roll in soloQ killed the competitive viability of newgen players. They're one trick ponies with no fundamentals who don't understand the greater game state and don't comprehend the other positions, so they can't fathom how the enemy team does the shit they do. If your weakest player's weakest roll is Bronze level, you team is a Bronze level team

I honestly agree with LS here. What change would I like G2 to make? None, legit, none. Let the team stay together, you have a good base in the botlane, figure out how to get them to shine while relying on the backbone of Caps and Jankos, get BB to practice on carry tops more, his Fiora picks were legit inting every time he picked it at Worlds yet I'm not saying replace anyone. I realize that we're EU players and not LPL, we're always going to be worse than LPL on Fiora, Camille, Riven. So let's fucking own that and get better at macro and decision making than them. Let's remove the fun from the enemy and make them regret picking Fiora, Camille or Riven.

EU and NA players are mechanically worse than LPL and LCK almost all of the time. That is why we should be focusing on bridging the gap elsewhere, be it macro/decision making, draft, etc. Making sure that even if you're in a losing matchup that you lose it as little as possible or go even is the best possible outcome when you face an opponent that is better than you.
In SoloQ, if I'm facing a challenger ADC, I don't try to randomly pick Draven when I'm not a Draven player. I'm going to pick Sivir/Cait because they are my most comfortable picks and they are safe scaling late game picks. This allows me to "gracefully" lose my lane without actually losing it. Seeing western players picking Fiora, Camille, Kalista, it hurts me physically because I know they are worse than LPL and LCK on it. It might work in the west to pick those champs but against better opponents it doesn't. So we should drop the ego and get good at the neutralising lanes and picks.

Western teams best hopes have gone by. Personally, 2016 TSM and 2019 G2 were the only hope. But TSM choked in groups and G2 reached the final, but Doinb was too OP.
No NA team was a hope . We had H2k semis we had MSF giving SKT a run for their money . We had FNC 2018 finals 2019 still decent and 2020 almost winning vs top . We had G2 2018 beating down RNG / 2019 G2 you mentioned but 2020 was still semis for G2 (a bad year 😑) . The only NA team that did something was C9 and I guess TL at MSI but never at world's . C9 taking down Afreeca was NA biggest achievement in the last 7 years at world's but that's about it . EU has multiple semis almost always quarters so what are we even talking about NA and what TSM did . TSM did nothing not ever they never exit groups so they don't exist nobady remembers chokers . C9 is the only organization I respect from NA . TL invested more then half the fucking LEC costs and didn't do shit.

There isn’t enough high level competition. Any team from NA would struggle. You could take whatever team wins worlds this year, take them to NA for a year and they will not make it out of groups. Or at best to quarters. A whole year of building bad habits against worse players. The training environment just isn’t harsh enough. It’s not like we have less capable people. It’s mostly circumstance
LS original take was that you can't beat them at their own game. NA will never have the micro of the East because simply put there's not enough top talent to compete and practice with. Na SoloQ blows.
The plan was to out draft and play around their strengths rather than try to brute force a T1 at team fighting, or beating a Chinese team with agresiveness. I personally think that with a mentality shift, the west could build it's own meta of sorts, that could make it develop and compete with eastern teams by playing it's own game. But after LS was kicked out NA is just doomed to be forever a mediocre region.

I don't agree LS G2 with Caps and Perks where the best Western team ever maid and they nearly won, Fnatic with arguably less talented players also made the finals, it's just the freaking teen drama and teams inner working that keeps EU and NA back, there's no reason for Fnatic to kick Nemesis from the roster and I don't care how toxic Dardoch was the kid was one NA biggest proprest and the right mentality to win, which is needed in situations like this week where teams especially EU fell apart.

I dont at all blame the players this worlds, I think NA's coaching staff failed the players this year. They had a lotttt of misreads on what is good and bad, which lead to a lot of bad decisions in week 1. With C9 and EGs play this week, I genuinely think you take them and drop them into last week and they have a real chance of pulling off 2nd place in their groups. Week one the lpl and lck teams looked VERY mortal.

So LS probably gave up after he realised NA teams will never get western practices. Different culture, different enviroments. We know the players themselves arnt bad since they can get challanger in korea solo queue just fine, they just lack discipline when it comes to pro play.
Unless some miracle happens where league becomes popular in NA again its just gonna get worse and worse for us, all the young people that would be out new talent are playing more popular games. Not to mention all the more popular talking points that attribute to NA's international success.

G2 2019 made the perfect roster, with all the players at their absolute peak, with the perfect meta for them.
The stars had to align. No western top can match Khan and Nuguri like Wunder did.
No western mid can even close to Faker, Showmaker, Chovy like Caps did.
The only player with potential to be as good as a prime G2 player is Inspired who can definitely be as good as prime Jankos and match anyone in the World(not in form canyon)
I think RGE is at least very good this year. I think their bot lane is insane, Odoamne plays his tanks perfectly. Larssen and Malrang are not perfect but they do their job more than well. With Caps and Inspired this roster looks like a dark horse to go far.

But how can NA actually improve if players like Busio are not getting any chances. Elya also really impressed me in acadamy. Chime looked really good in the short time he was given in playoffs. His Pyke game was so sexy. I just think Zven is 1 a good adc (over his support play) and 2 I think NA players are gate kept by grand fathered players like him.
