I love to hear these old black guys talkin' about the blues. They are the the ones who were there. They are the ones that should be telling the story

Man they cut off the best part of the story in my opinion. Another interview he tells the same story and when he got back to Chicago and called Wolf, he said that Wolf lived about 2 minutes from where they where headed back too. And when they got there Wolf was there in no time, went inside and told Muddy "Im here to pick up my son..." then he looked at Hubert and said "now get ya shit and lets go." Great story man. Wish I could have met him, seemed like a great person to talk too.

Ann Cole had been rehearsing a new Preston Foster song "Got My Mojo Working" in the studio before the 1956 tour Hubert talks about here. She planned to record it after the tour, and she sang it at every concert that month. Muddy loved the song so much he recorded it himself as soon as he got back home, even before Cole got back in the studio to record her version. Both records came out the same week in 1957..

Yeah, that is a nice axe! During the early 50's it was the best poor man's electric guitar money could buy. It's still better than a lot of the major brands out there today.

It's funny how the Muddy story changes slightly. In an earlier interview (also on youtube), Hubert talks about doing 41 nights with Muddy and in this interview it's 31 days/nights.

With all due respect to Hubert Sumlin, That Guitar Center "King of the Blues" thing was pure bullshit! The CD tracks that were recorded and released were so bad, of such little blues value, that it had to be changed by the time of the contest! I participated in the competition at GC in San Diego. I was the only guy playin' blues. the winner was a long haired kid on an Explorer playing metal. He was shocked that I didn't win. The judges didn't have a clue. A real discrace!

Sounds about right for Guitar Center man. Sorry you got punked like that. At the end of the day the real ones knew.
