I learned about Howlin' Wolfe from 'Cadillac Records', but I did not play his music until this year (2021) and absolutely love it and the man! What a GIANT of a man from his stature, to his playing, to his singing---wow!
@@BluesInMySoul I totally agree with you, however, I only learned his name and his song, which allowed me to research the man. I know who he married and why she married him. I know that he was a good man who cared about people and especially his band hence, he completed his GED in order to ensure that he was paid correctly and that he could pay his band members correctly and even take out insurance for them in case of sick leave. It's never a good idea to read into a statement any where. You really can't believe that you are the only person who knows that the majority of the film 'Cadillac Records' was based upon very little factual information and moreso on artistical license-it is when the writers come up with a screenplay and have to add in filler information to get a complete picture based on some facts and a good deal of speculation.
@@CyndiWallaceMurphy Again, Cadillac Records was one lie after another. You wrote an entire dissertation for what? Take your own advice and stop reading into comments.
I was fortunate to see Hubert Sumlin play in a little club in Cleveland some time back in the 80's. Great show as you'd expect. As Jimmy Page said about him "he always played the right thing at the right time". I've seen Howlin' Wolf on UA-cam. Both men are legends.
oh lord, the wolf (mr. chester arthur burnett = R.I.P.) was a killer ... sho nuff, one of the very best performers ever hit a stage ... we miss you so much (gone but not forgotten).
+the1ali 2003 was declared by Congress to be the Year of the Blues. That year PBS, Memphis-based Blues Foundation and Experience Music Project (EMP) in Seattle, sponsored several projects including a seven part series on PBS produced by Martin Scorsese. Honestly, I don't remember the exact source of these clips. They were either taken from the EMP website, the yearoftheblues.org website (now defunct) or they were extras from the DVD collection. I thought the world should see them.
If anybody's watching this in 2017 I thank you for keeping the blues alive
I'm watching it!
I'm watching it in 2021!

+Thomas Coleman There's a clip of Sumlin talking about the time when Jimi sat in with Wolf. It was hysterical. Is that from the same DVD?
