If your mad about the Ariana part, You have to realize Ariana got a lot of slack for her music career, so Jeanette had to pick it up for her by working more hours at the studio. She didn't like this because she had to deal with "the creator"
Im disgusted how it isn't illegal for Disney to have NDA's and Nickelodeon has to hush money for children. These parents of child stars are so selfish and vain. This is disgusting and I genuinely think something should be done. Amanda Bynes, Lindsey Lohan, Demi Lovato, and there are so many stars who have gone through so much suffering. How many more kids are we going to sacrifice for our entertainment?
Even the child stars who are close to their parents, look at how young some of them are when they entered the industry. They were clearly not the ones making the choice to be there and they had to give up their childhood as a result of those choices that they didn't make. If a child is providing for their family and not the parent, then something is clearly wrong.
She has finally found her true passions now, writing and mental health advocacy on her podcast! So proud of her living her own truth for her own life, and this book was absolutely my best read of 2022!
Jennette is an incredibly talented person. I truly hope that everything, in her life, continues to move in a positive direction. She's been through SO much, at an incredibly young age; and came out the other side, better... That's a rare thing for many child actors. Jennette telling her story, is another step in the right direction, towards the uncovering of 'Hollywood'; and how they treat people whom are underage. Thank you Tea Spill for covering this story!
I love when child stars grow up and realize “oh…. You can’t hurt me anymore!?!? …… I’m about to end yours for what you did to me.” And then do a tell all. It’s just, *mwah* chefs kiss
The responsibility for providing for the family is on the parents. Not on the child. I feel bad for her and I hope whatever she decides to do in the future, she will be happy and thrive.

I just finished the book. It was heartbreaking. It's like 90 short stories, with 88 of them being horrible and about abuse. *Small correction* her mom didn't bathe with her, but bathe her and sometimes her brother at the same time.
I couldn't believe what I was reading. Sad, toxic, disturbing.....and the sad part is, she didn't even realized she was abused until after she started getting therapy
If it was her dad doing this stuff like the shower stuff, people wouldn't be guarding the parent with language like "invasion of privacy". It was molestation, it's our job to call it what it is.
It’s so heartbreaking to look back at the “food lover” storyline while she was actively forced to starve herself. I feel so bad for her. I never knew. What a slap in the face to her
I feel so bad that she went through all of that. I watched iCarly faithfully and she was my favorite character on that show. It’s so crazy to me that she was able to hide all of that. I feel bad that she’s embarrassed about the work that she’s done and it makes me not want to watch reruns because it just doesn’t feel right anymore but I hope that she has found her peace.
@@disgustof-riley Let me clarify: “…and SHE (Sam Puckett) was my favorite character on that show.” I forgot the Specific Typing Police monitor everything.
She’s so brave, I loved her then and I still love her now ❤️ even just the title of her book. Family is always seen as like a priority for people and it makes those of us who had a broken home feel even worse. It’s very alienating. Not everyone has a perfect experience with their family.
Jenette's story is so heartbreaking. She's been through so much. She's so wise and intelligent and has clearly been in a lot of therapy and learnt to understand herself. I'm so proud that she's healing. 🖤

I hope that now she is truly happy with her life and I hope she can find that joy and happiness that she brung to so many children. I truly want her to live the life she has always wanted for herself. I truly truly hope Jeannette can finally find her peace.
I’m just so glad she stayed strong and didn’t resort to things that would ruin her life like drugs and whatnot. I respect her so much for how she’s handled herself and the integrity she has for not caving in to Nickelodeons bribery. Ever since the dan schnider scandal I haven’t looked at Nickelodeon and i think that was years ago.
Honestly I do hope one day maybe her and Ariana can reconnect. Not to be besties or anything but just talk about their experiences. It feels like the creator damaged a lot of actresses.
I remember when I would watch iCarly, the character Sam always seemed to have this underlying sadness about her and now I’m realizing that it was Jeanette who was feeling that way, not Sam. I truly wish her the best and I really hope she can live the way she wants and needs and can find peace in the future
It’s crazy to think that when I was like 12 laughing and watching the episode where cat was stuck in a box, jennette was going thru so much. I love her!
Think about the pressure you felt as a child - rules, expectations, grades, friendship, school. We all felt very overwhelmed. Multiply that by 100 and you probably can feel what child actors go through. It’s overwhelming. The world looking at you and judging you. As an adult, when you’ve accepted yourself, have experience and a toughened demeanor you might can handle it. But children? They’re not built to deal with this. It’s incredibly sad to think about.
I understand her hate to her mom in her book. My mom is a Very Bad person and has done some Evil stuff to me and my brother! If it wasn’t for my grandma taking us in, I think my “mom” would have killed us!
I just finished the book and oh my gosh. It was the most heartbreaking thing I've read. But im glad there's been so much healing since and was able to come out with her story. Love her.
I just finished listening to the book a few days ago and it's incredibly eye opening just learning about the scale of all the shit Jennette had to go through growing up. I wish her the best in whatever she decides to do with her life going forward but if she ever does decide to get back in front of the camera I really hope she's afforded the option of only taking on acting projects she can be proud of to have worked on.
She's such an intelligent woman, I admire the fuck out of her. She's just so beautiful inside and out, honest as hell and doesn't care if you don't want to hear the truth, you'll get it regardless. Jennette is just so brave, I always liked her but after all of this I just have a newfound respect and love for her that I didn't know I could have for someone I haven't even met. Let's treat Jennette well, I hope she can become a happier person despite her traumas.
Her inappropriately touching a young girl for cancerous tumours is so out of line it doesn’t matter if it’s your own daughter. Cancer runs down my family too, but I was so lucky to have good parents who taught me to look for the signs myself and to talk to them if I need anything, not invasively hinder my privacy for their satisfaction. I hope Jennette is doing better now and I’m so glad she spoke out about this, she’s very brave for doing so 💗
It makes me so mad. My favourite show was Sam and cat growing up and to hear how horrible her experience was on the show makes me so upset. I was a kid so of course I wouldn’t understand but it makes me feel so bad for supporting and loving the show. I’m so glad she escaped and is healing from her past and what she went through and I’m so proud of her for speaking out
Jannette is a very honest person and I like how out spoken as a kid I loved watching her Tv shows but I never knew what she was going through all these years.
I was a watcher of the ED recovery side of UA-cam for a while when I was underweight and in a strange headspace and I actually became “reacquainted” with Jennette (in a parasocial way) through Merryrose Howley’s channel (I think Jennette had started following her on Instagram). That was when I first learned about Jeannette’s ED-intertwined history. And, tbh, it takes a very steely resolve / huge amount of guts to be a public figure and openly say “yeah, my mom fucked me up in a lot of ways, and little-to-none of those ways were ever actually in my best interest and mostly led me down detrimental paths.”
I don’t think anyone should blame her for being resentful of anyone during a time when all she was seeing was positivity from others and Janette was just dealing with negativity. Almost anyone in her shoes would feel the exact same. As much as I would love to read her book, I think it would make me too emotional. So I will just support her from afar :)
i have a friend who was a child actor and hes told me hell of stories about it and he started to dislike it so much he just stopped showing up to auditions. its sad to hear it from not only Jennette but someone i know personally as well.
i remember when there were rumors of an icarly rerun (or it was being announced... dont exactly remember) and McCurdy's comment sections were FILLED with ex-fans begging for her to accept the offer and be in it. at the time there were multiple podcast episodes with her talking abt her eating disorder and how she hated her time on Nickolodeon. it was honestly incredibly sad
When I was 12 watching icarly, I always related to Sam's character. Her parent seemed absent and she never wanted to be at home. Something I experienced. And now hearing jennettes story , i related even more. Feeling like you are the provider of the house and like a caregiver to your parent because all the adult responsibilities are on the child. The roles reverse with a mom and daughter relationship. Even now with things a little better then the past. I still talk to my mom like shes my child and that I have to guide her in life.... when you grow up in a house like that it all seems normal. You think everyone grows up like that. Then when your an adult and realize you were being abused it feels very lonely. Like for some reason god only wanted you to go threw that. Her story and book helps alot of people including myself not feel alone and that's hard even on good days to Remember that.
She's been talking about this for years and her one-woman-show under the same name is great. I'm glad she's vocal about the open secrets in the industry.
She made her book into a one woman show I’m glad my mom died last year highly recommend, very funny and emotional. She’s persevered through a lotta personal hardship in the industry and respect to her for coming out stronger.
@@Reng7erychncr3 She wrote about molesting her younger sister when they were both children. She's done and said some pretty controversial things publicly as well.
Lena Dunham molested her sister but apparently got away with it becuz she's was just "experimenting" I'm liberal but I can see she got away with that becuz she's a feminist and had loads of Hollywood friends
This goes to show u how hard it is for children to make their own decisions, to stand up for what they want, to stand up against abuse, peer pressure, bullies, n etc, it shows how important it is for children to have trusted adults in their lives to help guide them, it shows how we as adults must protect these children!!!! It seems though in todays world children r not being protected at all
Jeanette's mom was still showering her and her brother at the age of 16, and I think it's longer than that. She only stopped when Jeanette went on tour and Mom's cancer came back
I cried listening to this whole thing..and I know i'll do the same once I start reading her book. She is so brave! I wonder how many child actors from Nickelodeon got paid out to hush about their experience. 😭 this is sad! Feel like it should have been cancelled for many years!!
Speaking of family channels and children being filmed without being able to express consent: can we talk about the Ballingers and Colleen? Literally their entire current content relies on the children being featured. They would not have content without the children. Not enough people are calling them out.
colleen has always logged a lot, and especially having infant twins kids kind of take up all of your time, but i wish she would censor the kids faces or not center almost 100% of her content around them or something. i feel like she's going to regret having posted them so much so publicly, probably in the next few of years

You have to realize Ariana got a lot of slack for her music career, so Jeanette had to pick it up for her by working more hours at the studio.
Narc parents are going to narc 🤷🏽♀️
Even the child stars who are close to their parents, look at how young some of them are when they entered the industry. They were clearly not the ones making the choice to be there and they had to give up their childhood as a result of those choices that they didn't make. If a child is providing for their family and not the parent, then something is clearly wrong.
Well with the family vlogging going on nowadays it is only getting worse 💔
She has finally found her true passions now, writing and mental health advocacy on her podcast! So proud of her living her own truth for her own life, and this book was absolutely my best read of 2022!
She had a really hard time, I’m glad she is venting over this and speaking about it.
Thank you Tea Spill for covering this story!
so proud of her for talking about this and sharing her experience. that's gotta be hard to stand up to such a big name and industry like that
I love when child stars grow up and realize “oh…. You can’t hurt me anymore!?!? …… I’m about to end yours for what you did to me.” And then do a tell all. It’s just, *mwah* chefs kiss
My heart goes out to these child actors 🫶🏾
The responsibility for providing for the family is on the parents. Not on the child. I feel bad for her and I hope whatever she decides to do in the future, she will be happy and thrive.
Youre not a true ariana fan if you're bullying Jennette about this. Her life was taken away from her and she was only jealous of ariana. She knew it wasn't her fault. Ariana would never want her fans to hate on Jennette about this. Jennette has every right to be mad about what happened to her. She deserves better
🥺
She *played* your favorite character
@@disgustof-riley Let me clarify: “…and SHE (Sam Puckett) was my favorite character on that show.” I forgot the Specific Typing Police monitor everything.
Jennette exposed it YEARS ago
Im so glad she is speaking out and and sharing her experience, I wish nothing but continued healing in her future.
I'm so devastated when I think about what she was going through while filming iCarly, she gave us our best years while she lived through her worst 😮💨😪
this is heartbreaking. I'm literally crying. as a nick fan kid myself she was and still is one of my favorite characters and people in the industry. I'm so proud of her of sharing her story so bravely!! I wish her nothing but success and happiness.
It truly breaks my heart after seeing jennette’s interviews and all the videos and everyone who is talking about it and just hearing her basically say she hated what she was becoming as an actor when she was a HUGE part of my childhood and she was one of the few things that brung me happiness in my dark world…..
It feels like the creator damaged a lot of actresses.
actually jennette wrote a note for her at the end of the book, theyre besties now :)
@@yilly222 someone in the comments said Ariana is not a fan of the book though
I really like this type of videos :)
Thank you:)
I remember when I would watch iCarly, the character Sam always seemed to have this underlying sadness about her and now I’m realizing that it was Jeanette who was feeling that way, not Sam. I truly wish her the best and I really hope she can live the way she wants and needs and can find peace in the future
The worst part of her story was her mother. Such a sick and twisted woman. There were so many parts I had trouble getting through.
It’s crazy to think that when I was like 12 laughing and watching the episode where cat was stuck in a box, jennette was going thru so much. I love her!
Her book was so well written.
You’re my favorite tea page I follow. You always give WAY more details than the rest, and you do it so well!! Love your videos 💜
perfect timing for my break at work
Think about the pressure you felt as a child - rules, expectations, grades, friendship, school.
Love her.
Her mom highly inappropriate. The "sexual exams" was the part that surprised me the most
I just finished listening to the book a few days ago and it's incredibly eye opening just learning about the scale of all the shit Jennette had to go through growing up.
I wish her the best in whatever she decides to do with her life going forward but if she ever does decide to get back in front of the camera I really hope she's afforded the option of only taking on acting projects she can be proud of to have worked on.
Really, really loving your longer informative videos!
I am really interested in these "longer" in depth videos you have been posting :)
The tea has just been spilled, again!
I just downloaded her book. ☺️ Can’t wait to sit with it!!
This video is so well made, would love to see more videos like this where u deep dive into topics like this. Even longer videos are better.
I’m so glad she escaped and is healing from her past and what she went through and I’m so proud of her for speaking out
I hate that she had to be so strong and so brave and go through all of this. I hope she gets some peace. Or her revenge. Whatever she wants really.
She still looks emaciated. Her mom gave her a disease she has to battle for the rest of her life. This is so sad.
Good for her! She is real and humble. Very strong woman
just got off of work perfect timing ♡
Same!!
I like how u used Catherine and Elle as a example in the beginning even tho it’s blurred lol 😂
I think I might pick up her book. Her story always caught me and she deserves her voice to be heard.
i have a friend who was a child actor and hes told me hell of stories about it and he started to dislike it so much he just stopped showing up to auditions. its sad to hear it from not only Jennette but someone i know personally as well.
I’m loving these new documentary style videos
i read the book in full between two work shifts-im so proud of her.
i remember when there were rumors of an icarly rerun (or it was being announced... dont exactly remember) and McCurdy's comment sections were FILLED with ex-fans begging for her to accept the offer and be in it. at the time there were multiple podcast episodes with her talking abt her eating disorder and how she hated her time on Nickolodeon. it was honestly incredibly sad
She’s the queen we needed this year
I’m so glad you covered this!
It makes me wonder what other child actors are going through this right now because if you think it has stopped it hasn’t
She's been talking about this for years and her one-woman-show under the same name is great. I'm glad she's vocal about the open secrets in the industry.
I burned my tongue on this cup of tea
Omg that first clip of Jeanette and Miranda in icarly 🥺 they were just babies
She made her book into a one woman show I’m glad my mom died last year highly recommend, very funny and emotional. She’s persevered through a lotta personal hardship in the industry and respect to her for coming out stronger.
A few years ago someone from Nickelodeon got caught trying to meet a under aged kid on dateline with Chris Hanson
This book was insane. No child should have dealt with what Jennette went through.
I was waiting on someone to do a video about this !!!
Well she deserves all the support. She's been through hell and back to be where she is now.
Having Lena Dunham quoting on the cover of a book about child-abuse is kinda vile, but whatever. Im glad Jennette has her voice heard.
Can you explain how it’s vile? I’ve never heard of them and I’m kinda curious.
@@Reng7erychncr3 She allegedly sexually abused her sister when they were both minors.
@@Reng7erychncr3 lena dunham released a book where she detailed SA’ing her younger sister out of curiosity
I just feel so bad for her and that she had to go through all this
This goes to show u how hard it is for children to make their own decisions, to stand up for what they want, to stand up against abuse, peer pressure, bullies, n etc, it shows how important it is for children to have trusted adults in their lives to help guide them, it shows how we as adults must protect these children!!!! It seems though in todays world children r not being protected at all
Jeanette needs to look at her kiss w "Freddy" as her 1st REEL life not REAL life kiss. So happy she's found her freedom & her own voice
Feel like it should have been cancelled for many years!!
awesome content, your narration is wonderful
Y’all really need to listen/read the book!! 10/10 recommend !
Speaking of family channels and children being filmed without being able to express consent: can we talk about the Ballingers and Colleen? Literally their entire current content relies on the children being featured. They would not have content without the children. Not enough people are calling them out.
colleen has always logged a lot, and especially having infant twins kids kind of take up all of your time, but i wish she would censor the kids faces or not center almost 100% of her content around them or something. i feel like she's going to regret having posted them so much so publicly, probably in the next few of years
I'm so glad you're talking about this, much love to Jennette
