I made a retinoid cream! If you're interested in using it for acne scarring, check it out here: shop.heystratum.com
It's now my favorite retinoid product in the world and the one I use each night... but I'm biased here, so do your own research.
I used the strongest over the counter retinoid available in the U.S. to get maximum effect, but added a BUNCH of moisturizing and soothing ingredients so that it's not irritating like most retinoids.

There's a new doctor around the block in youtube called Dr abs

Does his claim have any validity?

As a 30 year old woman, acne scarring has truly changed my quality of life for the worst. I don’t date, I don’t go out much, and I feel very self conscious. It sucks when im in the car and sun is shining and it highlights the scars. I’ve been suffering for over 10 years. It’s hard to deal with. I went to a aesthetician and received a chemical peel, but they gave me the wrong one and that did nothing for my face. Between the depression, self consciousness, and I feel like I can’t live a full life because of the scars on my face.

Initially I did it every month (if not maybe every 2 weeks, I am not sure). This helped especially against the Acne. But the effect is very lasting, so currently every 3-4 months is sufficient for me. This is also due to "condition" having goten better. So now I do for the scarring. I found that the laser worked better than the needling. Although; the needling worked best at a higher intensity with a deeper piercing (deeper piercing will hurt more though). I can't tell you much about the laser. I only know what my doc cals them. There are some that help better against acne, some better against scarring. Laser-vampire-needling is not recommended by me though. All in all i wish my previous doc didnt keep his mout shut and told me about this. It was my best life decision yet. Truly life changing for me. Pls remember the experience may vary.

I have stopped drinking milk and eating chocolates. But antibiotics helped a lot.

I challenged my insurance when they refused to cover my treatment and the person I spoke to was very sympathetic and I got it covered. I do have to get recertified every 3 years but so far so good. I went on spironolactone 50mg, Retin-A, azelaic acid from the dermatologist. This worked great but a few years we went to 100mg and kept the others but included a benzoyl peroxide face wash. The felt experience of someone with severe acne scarring is comparable to experiencing mutilation. Mostly because it's facial.
Your beauty is taken away, changes in lighting suddenly reveal a grostesque attribute to your facial features to others. Being aware of that makes you want to not be seen.
In addition to dealing with that loss, you have to deal with people who lie to you. You knpw how perfectionistic women are about their appearence and yet they pretend your scars are not a big deal.
The way we judge ourselves is the way we judge others.

I think it’s also important to note those who are considering Lasering that many clinics use lasers that work well with those on the Fitzpatrick scale of 1-2 (skin type) and can cause scaring to those with more melanin rich skin. Those with more hyperpigmentation prone skin have to opt for a laser known as Nd:YAG which is often more expensive. At least that is my experience. Would be great to see an efficacy comparison between Nd:YAG and Microneedling so can channel the funds for the most effective treatment for those of darker skin tones.

Yep. A fully ablative CO² fractional laser isn't suitable for Fitzpatrick scale 3 and darker. In my country, we use a mildly ablative CO² fractional laser because it's sunny all year and most people are on Fitzpatrick scale 3 and darker. It's not nearly as effective as the fully ablative ones, but it's quite effective for moderate pigmentation and mild scars. People with severe acne scars are usually given 2-4 treatments at once - they usually consist of subsicion, tca cross, prp, and CO² fractinal laser. And while insurance can't cover those treatments, it's fairly cheap to get those combined treatments - around $100-$300 here.

APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE TO YOU FOR BEING SO BRUTALLY HONEST ! I have suffered my whole entire life with box scars and indented rolling scars and w/ laser treatments that I have used didnt really help me. Now that I'm 68 yrs. old, I recently had microneedling and I've had 8 sessions which cost me a lot and yet, my scars have only improved about 50 %. I'm thinking of getting more sessions just to hopefully get me a smoother skin. You're right, INSURANCE IS CRAZY FOR NOT HAVING THESE TYPE OF CONDITION BEING COVERED ! I wish I can afford to get a fat transfer and fillers . I also began using some type of Retinol but I know I will have to continue w/ more microneedling. I'm not exctly sure about PRP.

I really like this video and your honesty. I wouldn't however pick on these so called 'hippies' for giving very worthwhile input on health warnings beyond skincare. People are very easily influenced by an easy fix, especially when recommended by a doctor but there are other doctors who have dedicated their lives to the interactions of the body as a whole and would disagree with the abundant prescription of medication. As a healthcare professional you should always be open to new opinion, and it is worrisome how fast you shoot these people down. For people experiencing highly inflamed skin, diet plays a huge role. Cutting out foods that upset the gut will absolutely help.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I know it feels tragic right now because you’re still mourning what your skin used to look like, and that’s really normal and okay to feel such sadness and despair, because it is a really hard thing to go through. But just so you know, the people who look past stuff like acne scars will far outweigh the people who fixate on it. There will be many people who still find you just as attractive even with scars, and won’t be bothered by it at all. When someone tells you that you are handsome, believe them and don’t second guess it, because they are saying the truth.
Human beings have a special ability to see each other through a “lense of love”. I promise you that the people you meet that are really into you and feeling love for you are going to see you as truly stunning, regardless of some acne scars. The people who criticize your skin, are ones who are deeply tormented inside their own heads, so they feel the need to point out flaws in everyone around them to try and make others feel insecure. That is a very sad life for them.
Ignore those petty people, focus on the ones that uplift you..: and look forward to the day that you are making your appointments to get your micro needling and laser treatments! Set a goal to save up for it… and even if it takes 10 years to reach that… you’ll be walking this earth with glowing skin and a glowing heart because you walked through dark times and came out on the other side stronger and wiser. Good luck to you
