Yes and no. While the automatic dying from a failed survival check is removed, it is still possible to die by having a stat reach zero during character creation. It’s a lot harder to pull off but it’s definitely possible to be in a career path without medical aid and not be able to get the kind of intervention you would need to survive a major injury. It’s still “possible” but a lot more unlikely.
They made it an optional rule in one of they’re supplements and I think it’s call something along the lines like “The Iron man method” or something along those lines
Love it. Started my group's first Traveller game a couple weeks ago. My first GM'ing in decades (a ton to learn). We are rolling through the Darrian Confederacy/Sword World sectors and I'm pushing them into a Lovecraftian / Expanse / WH40K-inspired homebrew adventure.
That sounds amazing. I just started playing for the first time in a more scientifically accurate Soviet controlled sector of space. I’m planning to do an interview with the Referee here in the coming weeks. Sorry for the lack of RPG content these last three weeks or so I’ve been dealing with some personal problems. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, it really means a lot!
@@Spacewitchofthelittledancer I love how truly open this system is. Being able to play as high-tech or low-tech as you want. Terrestrial games, space games, space-ship focussed games, thriller, horror, merchant, etc... Everything is pretty possible in this and the mechanics are easy to learn. Good luck on your game!
I suggest picking a few scifi Properties to build your setting around and make sure your players are familiar with them. This helps put everyone on the same page. I don't heavily rely on the art in the Mongoose books; so if I say "The Runabout comes in hot and slams down in the pad." everyone at the table knows what I'm talking about and has a visual image of it in their heads. I found referring to the ships/items by name in the books confused people and held up the game. I mostly use: Altered Carbon, Foundation, and Dune bastardized into the Official Traveller Universe.
That surreal moment when, three years later you’re thumbing through UA-cam’s landing page and see your own Traveller website in some dude’s thumbnail 🤔😝
I hope you are referring to Traveler map, I truly believe it’s one of the finest rpg fan tools every created, I’m probably close to a year out from starting on my Traveller mega video essay, currently doing dungeon crawl classics, but if you would be down I would love to do even a written interview!
I’m also still down for an interview I am cooking up a larger project about fandoms as well as my Traveller video essay. Your articles are interesting, logical, and actionable as all good RPG supplements should be!
Would adventure in the far future also include adventuring around the time of the start of the Vilani Federation? Which according to our calendar would be 3,000 plus years ago?.....
The "Far-Future" seems to refer to the golden age of the Third Imperium but if you are planning on running Traveller you can do whatever you want with your game, an early Vilani campaign sounds like a great timeline for adventure!
Hey man if you want good microphone quality for cheap pick up a Razer BlackShark V2 X for $55 on amazon. A Blue Yeti microphone would be a lot better tho
Great advice to GMs getting ready for Traveller. After running so much fantasy, it's good to hear to
Some key differences. Well done.
Mongoose Traveller have removed the 'dying' from Character creation and changed it to extremely badly injured.

This was highly inspiring.
This campaign unfortunately fell apart but it's next incarnation will be out tomorrow!
0:33 to skip the freestyle rap/identity crisis intro! 😂

The world of Sci-Fi already has so many eponyms built into it i see no problem with it and could see myself doing an entire video about this.
Thank you thank you, great video!

Er, no. My site is the one with the table, “My Traveller Universe.” Joshua Bell built and runs the Map.
Apologies, I love your blog and use your That Week In Jumpspace article for all my campaigns

Thank you so much, damn.
Thank you for this man.
Please turn the background music down or preferably off
Can't hear you over the music.

You have a discord or anything man?
No… I haven’t been producing content anymore. Not sure if I will return to it, things are much different for me now.
@@Spacewitchofthelittledancer well of your ever trying to get in some gaming dude I'd love to hit you up. Been trying to put together a group.
