- Video of Michael Evanko fly fishing Laurel Hill Creek in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, as well as the Casselman River in Garrett County, Maryland. The section of water fished on the Laurel Hill Creek is part of Pennsylvania's Keystone Select Trout Program. This video was shot on St. Patty's Day 2018. The trout caught in the video were caught on Green Copper John, Prince Nymph, Squirmy Wormy, and Hares Ear patterns.

Finally got up to Casselman yesterday afternoon, also worked the the same piece of water with similar results they really like that Hare's ear. Worked up to the bridge still large amount of fish there but the Temp dropped & wind picked up started freezing my eyelets shut.
Again thanks of the job you doing look forward to hitting some new water.
Ed
Nice Video Dude! Loved both of those streams. The Green copper john looked interesting. I tie my own squirmies but never with a chartreuse bead! I bet it gets their attention!
Great way to get over hump day.....another wooly bugged video! Looks like another good day
Gary B we are over the hump and buried in snow here!
It's really cool when you find a run or pocket that holds multiple fish in an otherwise shallow stream. That could be my favorite type of fly fishing. Last season in the Sierras though was like fishing Niagara Falls because of the heavy snow melt. The copper John is a very productive pattern here in the West as well. Thanks for the excellent video Mike!
Hey Mike,
I hit Casselman that morning unfortunately the river was very slushy visible ice on water. It was 17 deg. my flyline, leader and flys all froze up..Maryland DNR had just stock the day before. Glad to see it warmed up for you. The day wasn't a total loss I hit Jennings run near Barrelville tricked a few rainbows into taking fly. Can't wait to get up there this weekend.
Great job Mike keep it up..
It's great to see a video like this fishing water that I know and fish all the time. I live near the casselman and I fish laurel hill creek alot too. You should try fishing the creek that runs into laurel hill lake above the park because they stock that pretty heavily with brookies. And also the spillway at the head of the creek holds a good many fish too. Then with the casselman they always stalk that very well and u can even go out at the hottest parts of summer and catch trout. I've lived here my whole life and fished these waters and it's great to see a video like this one them. Great video man, keep it up
Hi mike. Very fiesty bows up there, looked fun though, still have snow about also, we have had snow here in the uk, unusual for march. Keep up the great vids mike. Tight lines to you .. R...
Richard Isaac hey Rich, thanks for commenting. Ya we just got buried in a half-foot of snow today.
All that water you fished in those 2 rivers looked awesome. Nice video!
Paddy's Day full of action! Looks like lot of fun with that rainbows😁
Cool set up, I'll try use that indicator someday 😁🍀✌
Fishing and Freediving in Ireland I love the Irish! Always bringing me luck!
Awesome. If you ever wanna come back ill put you up. I live off the casselman and would love to show you around and learn as well.
Nice video and a good day. Looked like you used about 3/4 different flies. A recap of how they performed any conclusion would be a nice addition. Keep-em coming .John K
Great fishing trip Michael! Thanks 👍😎
Thanks Mike for another entertaining and quality video.
One of my favorite local streams. Great video, Mike!

Good stuff as always.
Matthew Kieser thanks Matt!
Nice! Looks like a solid day!
Great job always eenjoy your videos
Thank you John, I appreciate the nice comment.
To bad you didn't fish the boy scout camp on the Laurel Hill stream , that is the where the big trout are . Turn off 31 at Bakersville .You will have to walk in this time of year because the road is closed for snowmobiles . The road opens at the end of March . Another great video , thanks
Rich, the Keystone Select portion of Laurel Hill Creek IS the section in the Boy Scout camp.
That is correct
That second stream is beautiful
Reely Nice Bows!! You've got some dropp dead gorgeous bodies of H2O 4 Catchin!!
Nice video, Mike! On Select Harvest DHALO, don't they stock big fish? I'm disappointed there were only small ones.
Lefty must have been near. Man I loved it.
Great video ( as usual). What are you using to film? You capture the fishing so well
I simply use GoPro and Apple.
Wooly Bugged Thank you! I mix it up with my galaxy s7 edge, gopro h3+, and some knock offs
That Casselman looks like some real clear water. You are a real expert at flyfishing and it's always nice to see new water. Wanted to ask you, do you use a certain size lightning strike indicator? I bought a different brand and it's always too small and gets submerged.
Casselman Steelhead lol Another great video Mike. How was Andrea's show?
Piscator Flies thanks Darren, nice tying! The show went great. I got to meet some great industry folks and meet some fans. I loved it!
I caught more trout at Laural Hill on a green copper John than any other nymph.
Great video and fantastic fishing. However, it's called St. Paddy's day.
BEAUTIFUL *FISHING* CONGRATULATIONS FISHERMAN!👍✔🎣🐠🐟
What does delayed harvest mean ,I love the way you explain things.tight lines from Ireland (foxy boy)
Eileen, the sign in the video explains it all. You can fish year round there, but you can harvest (keep fish) only between June and September.
so how many fish between the 2 rivers hit the first top fly and do you thing the Casselman trout are more wild than the planted stocked fish at hill creek?/I have learned Wild fish jump and fight more than stocked plated fish.
Italian Troutaholic I think all those fish were stocked trout. It’s possible Laurel Hill has a wild fish but not likely!
It’s almost always 50/50 top versus bottom I find.
I live near the casselman and I fish laurel hill a good bit too anc all the fish from both creeks are stocked but they do out some dandys in both
I enjoy your Videos. Mike..
Great FISHING..
I fish Central Pa alot..
If you would interested getting together..
Frankie Shoenfelt thanks Frankie! I saw those fish you put Scott on, nice! Can you do that for me, lol!
Wooly Bugged i could try my Best. Mike.. If you contact Benny of Lively Legz on some kind of Social Media. He could give you my contact info..
what a nice hole
Hey mike, was this in the upper section DHALO above the lake or the more remote section below?
I believe this is the DHALO section of Laurel Hill near Paddytown off of Humbert road. Laurel Hill is close to the Casselman and the Yough at that point.
Bangin those fresh stockies. Shoulda thrown a streamer.
No. Laurel Hill Creek never touches the castleman. It flows directly into the yough just north of confluence. The castleman joins the yough just south of confluence.
Is that a 5wt rod ??
You fish so close to my house haha.
Right in your back yard?
Wooly Bugged that would be funny, nope but like 5 to 10 mins away.
Man just hauling them outta that one hole
Jack Sugden there are a lot of fish in that creek!
What place is that, where is it?
I'm from garrett pa
Same, I fish the casselman alot
