@shani yan Trump did not declassify them, there is a formal process to do that and if they were declassified then that declassification process would have already been properly recorded and those documents would not still be marked Top Secret. And by the way, even removing declassified government documents is still UNLAWFUL REMOVAL OF PUBLIC RECORDS, so your excuses are irrelevant because no matter how you slice it, Donald Trump broke the law.

One important detail was not mentioned specifically in that. When out of the blue Trump accused Obama of taking "lots" of nuclear documents, that was when I knew the FBI had found nuclear related material at Mar a Lago.

Pretty much every normal person who worked with Trump in the White House came out saying it was "absolutely insane," so this doesn't surprise me as much as I'd wish. Normal presidents don't do this.

Nah, when my ex moved out she took some of my stuff by accident. She had people helping her in order to be done more quickly, and those people didn't exactly know what was hers and what was mine, and she was too rushed to review it all herself.
It's a little bit silly for that to happen to a president though.

Even if the material really had been declassified (as obviously it had not been), it wouldn’t have made the slightest difference for the three crimes the F.B.I. Is investigating. It would still constitute a violation of the Espionage Act and obstruction of justice.

The 33 million non-classified documents the the National Archives put in it’s Chicago storage facility.
And no only this, but I doubt 33 million pages exist within the whole of the White House itself. I also doubt that this would have been moved by anybody without someone questioning it.
@@Iloveswedes the documents are real and we’re handled in the proper manner the unclassified went to the Chicago facility and the classified went to a special facility in Washington DC no hassle no big deal.

The FBI gave an itemized receipt of every item confiscated; T****never READ the receipt but someone did and that's how he found out his 2 valid and 1 expired passport was no longer available. He was deemed a flight risk. He understood THAT.

The warrant doesn't actually have anything to do with the documents being confidential-since the President does have broad declassification authority, he can claim to have declassified the material before taking it, though it's nonsensical to "declassify" something without telling anyone because the rest of the government will still treat it as classified. The warrant concerns government documents that he lied about having-whether they're classified isn't relevant, the problem is lying to the Federal government.
@@scytheseven9173 that also kind of ignores the fact that there is a legal federal process for declassifying information from the presidency. You can’t just pick something up, take it Home, and then decided it is declassified. That is not how it works.

If they are so top secret that they can only be "read" in secure locations. Then he actually did get away with it in a sense that he had them in private possesion.
How long was he in possesion of these files, even a few seconds unatended is enough to copy and upload everything. So interesting to see that having top secret files is not even worth as high treason?

You must have a top secret clearance to be eligible to know about them, and of the ppl who have one, only a few get "read onto" the program. no one outside that group gets any knowledge about specifics, budgets, missions, locations, resources, etc.
The ‘safe’ was in a room next to the main pool. Remember a couple of years ago when the secret service there stopped a Chinese SPY from sneaking in, she had camera etc. and said “I’m only going for a swim.” Really we have no idea, docs found in three different areas, whether anyone copied, took pics, or if some are missing/sold as the close camera tv surveillance shows the boxes were moved in and out of rooms.
She was a smoke decoy. While the real spy,a white guy, did the work.

One thing bothers me, too, with this. How did they not know the documents were missing? And if so dangerous to be beyond their possession, what took eight months, or a year and a half, to go get them?
When I rush and pack at the last minute, sometimes I too accidentally pack top-secret documents and forget about it until I'm called out on it.

He'll be going to prison over this one. Donald Trump has demonstrated to his colleagues that he'd let them die if it suited him. From calling Mike Pence a cowardly traitor on Twitter whild the J6 crowd was already chanting to hang Mike Pence, and how these classified documents possibly putting the lives of people in danger, either through nuclear proliferation or by identifying spies. And Merrick Garland, the AG in charge of this case has personal beef with Trump that even though he should be impartial as a prosecutor, I'll be glad to see Garland get even. Remember, Merrick Garland was nominated by Obama to be a Supreme Court Justice. Upon accepting the nomination he started to weep tears of joy and said that his becoming a Supreme Court Justice is the defining honor of his entire life, surpassed only by his love for his wife. The way the Republicans stole that Supreme Court nomination away from Garland, plus the humiliation he must have felt after having expressed his overwhelming emotion was probably a life defining moment for him and I can only imagine the resentment that must course through his veins after that. Merrick Garland inspires real confidence in me of the DOJ which I have not felt in years.

SCI= Specially Compartmentalized Information. It is not supposed to leave the facility it is held in unless completely declassified.

I believe it's "secure", but yes. It's sometimes called "codeword classified" I think - it's a special section _within_ Top Secret where you only get to even look at it if you're "read into" that compartment. "Need to know basis" essentially. For example, if I have a Top Secret clearance, that wouldn't actually let me look at, say, documents on a collaborative project with Mossad (why does that sound familiar?) unless I were actually involved in some way with that collaboration; that information would be TS/SCI and restricted to people who are actually related to and need to know that information.
@@mesmartgnome I've held a TS since I was 17 and performed security clearance and counterintelligence investigations. TS/SCI, SAP, and other classified information can be transported and transmitted between SCIFs and is every single day. To say that it cannot leave the facility it is held in is patently false.
And it is Sensitive Compartmented Information. If you hold a TS you should be doing training twice a year on that fact.
@@kiraina25 you're referring to what is typically referred to as SAP (Special Access Program), where in most cases two names are given to the program, one of which is itself classified, and in highly sensitive cases changes on a regular basis. You need an SCI clearance as well as a need to have knowledge of the program before you would be read in on the compartment or program in question. Generally speaking a very small number of people have full visibility on a SAP project.
