I would put this in the category of any non primary key scanner especially because they don't have the programmers to go along with it like eprom and infer-red and like most of your high security keys those are hard to program and you need more equipment than just a diagnostic scanner with some IMMO functions that's why I own the Autel IM508 which came with an XP200 and then I bought the XP400 and the APB112 ect. all those accessories (programmers) work with the IM508 to handle most keys out there. The T8 is not a true key programmer so the functionality will be limited much like any other diagnostic geared scanner. thanks for watching
Will this do a throttle reset and vanos reset on a 07 mini cooper s it’s the n14 engine made by bmw So I read the vanos need to be reset when the timing chain is replaced The forum say foxwell NT510 but I don’t want to be limited to a certain vehicle if stuff gos bad and everything is getting way more tech then my old 400$ actron cp9670 can handle
What happens when you dont update it? Is the tool still usable or what. My cousin has a tech 2 and its 15 yrs old still using it fine no updates. Also can you get into tcu and control the transmission with this scan tool? Id like to check my tcc solenoid and clutch slippage along with shift solenoids
Just received my t8. Nice appearance but my 06 ram doesn’t do anything more then basic scanner with live data very disappointing hopefully they will take it back. Can do same amount stuff as. $50 scanner with live data
that's a programming process that allows modules or electronic control units (ECUs) to communicate with the vehicle. Basically running config after replacing a module mostly only FCA vehicles and Ferraris. Anyway I think that's a common feature on many scan tools but on the T8 IDK check with ICON folks thanks for watching
Likely they will get the Auto-Auth eventually. Recently Thinktool and Topdon were in disputes over the function as Launch wanted them to pay extra for it and it is probably the same for Icon. The update for this tool will likely be the same as Thinktool, Topdon, and Launch which are all $600 a year.
Just a little note in the door of most cats there's a sticker with the vin which is black and white, just a thought. Also I know there's an immobilizer only cause in another review a guy stumbled into it, I'll admit the tool doesn't seem very intuitive.
That’s a bucket of money for this tool. There’s others out there that are proven to do more for that same bucket of money. Unless it’s made by the same company as the others without the update values.
Thanks for the tip, I see that this tool has both a barcode scanner as well as OCR scanner (text) I was using the OCR or attempting to use it but hey it’s an old car
My neighbor purchased one of their other scanners and a month later it went dead. Harbor Freight said he had to send it back to the factory. He showed them his receipt and paid for extra insurance. He had to box it and pay for shipping!!! They finally replaced it after a month. Never again will he buy electrical items from Harbor Freight!
I don't mine the cord the VCI is not that big I mean the VCI on the Autel elites act are the size of 10" iPads stacked four high.... I like the cord for hard to reach places of the DLC that makes it easy to forget your VCI
The reason is that this tool can do the CanFD. If you look at the other tools on the market you will notice a difference between tools that can do CanFD and can't. The ones that can't are just the small dongle but the ones that can almost always have the cord with the box.
That is just not correct. The Xtool has 2 different dongles. They have the small ones that do not do CanFD without an add-on box and then they have the box-style dongle that will do CanFD.@@victorhoyt4352 The D7S and D8W appear to be a wired connection which does not apply the same way as the wireless. The D8BT does not do CanFD. In addtion, I am not sure Xtool has the add on module for the wireless connection yet. I know they have one for the D7 wired that does not do CanFD originally. I have an add on module for my Launch tool X-Pros3.
I will say that the best tool that was on the market was the one I bought at the right time. I bought a Launch ProsS3+ for $750 and got the CanFD module for $80. This tool has Topology which I have not seen on a tool for less than $1K@@victorhoyt4352 It will do some programming for US vehicles and has Auto-Auth. However, I was stongly considering the Xtool line but the lack of CanFD and Auto-Auth on the cheaper tools made me go another way. Then I spotted the one I got which can't be beat with the Topology. The Xtools also only do programming on a few lines of EU cars.
I've programmed multiple keys with this tool at the Honda dealership i work at. No problem.
How its only been available for about a week....
@@davidmathewes-w6tthere’s always tht one liar in the comments 😂

If you don't update it some things won't work much like most scan tools yes it can see and control TCM
Can it grab vin from the side of the door?
maybe
Can this scanner do fuel injectors balance test?
I don't know
Can u program keys with this scanner?
maybe some you will have to check with HFT

Does this have abs functionality?
Seems lot of scanners won’t tread embedded abs codes??
Yes

no

I can see your point of view
vin scan only works on the barcode on the door i think

How much you pay for subscription ? Is it expensive ??
HFT dose not have that information available yet so what I can say is their existing tool the ZR PRO that update is $499
Cant you by the warranty and when that update is due just warranty it out and start again with a new update?
That issue that you were having is usually 17 or later Chryslers
Thanks for sharing

That has been a solid rule of mine for awhile. Pliers - yes. power tools, electronics - nope.
