I am driving out in the later part of August with my dog Maggie and I can’t wait to hit the trail. I will be renting a car to return to Denver. I am a AT, LT , White Mountains hiker and I am looking forward to switch backs and less brutal straight up and down. I am sure it will be a challenge for sure. I am older so it’s UL all the way for me. Thanks for all of your input. How were the mountain bikers to deal with? Take care
Hey there! I hiked the AT as well before I hiked the CT. The CT is a much more manageable grade than those East Coast trails. There are definitely some huge climbs, and some rocks, but the trail is much smoother in general than the AT or LT. As far as mountain bikers, there were some busy sections where they were prevalent, like around Summit County. And I did encounter 2 or 3 rude ones who thought they owned the trail, but they were the minority. Most cyclists were incredibly cool and considerate. Good luck and happy hiking! 🤙🏼
