Just a sugestion try to buy a desoldering iron because it will make your job much easier for tht component . You can put a desoldering modul to your metcal station or you can try a zd 915 .
Yea you are right there. Ive been meaning to get the one for the metcal station just haven't got around to it yet. Most of the stuff I work on is all smd so has been a low priority and also procrastinating do to not shopping around for a decent compressor to go with it first. I do have a s993 but never feel like pulling it out and waiting for it to heat up. Usually the manual pump works well enough on these, it was just a bit gummed up from flux. Im really interested to see how well the metcal gun will work on a lot of the fuse boxes I take apart tho probably be worth it for those alone.

Mercedes CLK w208 instrument cluster...I've replaced the original bulbs with LED's and everything was good...Yesterday i tried fitting the original ones again (keeping the LED LCD's) and as i was putting on a T10 with lights on, all the bulbs turned off except from the LCD's...Tried putting back the LED's and ONLY 1 LED worked for 1 sec and again off. Twisted everything and nothing happened.. Fuses are good. What is going on?😅
Hi great video. Can you provide information on the first component you tested mine is short to ground is that ok? Also I have two tan colored smb capacitors also short on other side. One above power plug other on left corner one is bad out of the group of 2. I had a bad chip Bosch 0608/05 replaced it and still have no life on cluster. Did you ever have anything like this?
The part numbers are valid in these so you can use it to search for datasheets. If the cluster is completely dead then its a much more difficult repair then what this video was for. Its not common for these so its hard to give you much advice. Hunt for shorts, work backwards from where power comes in, thats about it.

the backlight on my bike works only for 5 seconds after i turn the ignition key , any idea what might need replacing? i am yet to open the cluster and have a look at it with the multimeter. Thanks
what kind of lights does it use?
@@ecurepairthe console is digital. it has a screen like a calculator and the backlight lights up the screen and the sppedo and rpm needles. All indicators on the console work fine except the backlight with just turns on for 5 seconds during startup. The lights are tiny blue smd leds.

They are not masked parts you can see them labeled on the unit itself. I forget the 3rd mosfet to the right but for two most left I use st vn920 which is an upgrade over the normal buz10l thats in the older ones.

Could you indicate how to test the instrument panel outside the car?
Just lighting you only need to connect a couple wires for power/ground. If you want to test gauges its a bit harder.
may i ask how many volt to lighting the cluster?
Easy enough. My center display takes a while to "warm up" when it is cold out. Do you know what component would be causing that?
center display in console or the display in the instrument cluster?

@@eatont9999 Hi, my 2005 S55 started the same issue with the instrument cluster LCD screen (display screen), so should i buy a complete instrument cluster from a 2003-2005 S500/S350 and take the LCD from it and install it on my S55 or there is another way around?

@@mazenkhazaal698 I still have the issue. Keyworks didn't answer my question, so I don't know if repairing the center display is possible. I have not done anything about it yet.
I think you need to speed up the video,otherwise i can see what you do lol
