It was a very different build than what many people have done in the Mustang world, and I was extremely curious to try it out. I guess Ford said no to a turbo or supercharged V6 Mustang because then it would be too close to the 5.0s in terms of power, and that would rob from the V8 sales.

ikutoisahobo The superchargers are just for the Shelby's I guess. I realize that Shelby's don't come with V6's, but Ford isn't going to put a ton of money into developing an engine that doesn't cater to the majority of Mustang enthusiasts anyway.
People who like V8s, aren't going to by a V6 even if it has more or close to the power, the sound and growl from a V8 can't be beaten by the 3.7 V6 in these mustangs.
Ran a dude with a supercharged v6 in my 5.0. After the shock wore off . . . quite an impressive set up. Indeed a great platform for mods, plus the stealth factor. Looks like a damn fun car!
They didn't turbo the 3.7 V6 because it would probably be as fast, if not faster, than the 5.0 lmao
Pantera That's true with the 3.5 EcoBoost Cyclone in the F-150. It's much faster than the 5.0 Coyote.

Bobo Dnsn lol if you need to turbo a 5.0 to beat a turbo v6 then that means the 5.0 isn’t that fast with that logic.
Itll cost you 5-6k more minimum to try and beat a v6 mustang with a turbo kit and fuel upgrades. Turbo 3.7s can hit 650whp on stock longblocks.
Turbo 3.7 FTW, 5.0 Coyote nice powerful engine but so is the 3.7 Cyclone 5.0's are way overrated.
David wasn't kidding when he stated how the majority of the car community is close-minded. Seriously, there could have been a million reasons why the owner bought an automatic instead of a stick shift. This could be his daily ride, or maybe he has other cars that are stick and drives them occasionally.. I'm an auto technician and none of my co workers talk down on automatic transmission cars. The only people talking shit about auto's are just trying too hard. Get over yourselves, LOL!

Bingo, plus half the fun of a mustang is the bolt on performance upgrades. I think Ford was targeting guys who wanted to build their own cars with good base motors. In previous gens if you had a v6 stang all you could do was swap motors.
All of these people hating on V6's and automatics. There's nothing wrong with either. My first car was a V6 and it was amazing. Destroyed older V8s stock. And the manual elitist are so annoying. We don't live in the late 90s anymore where the manuals used to be better.

I love V6 cars, just not V6 in a muscle car like the mustang. Also, nothing wrong with an automatic, but manuals are just so much more fun to drive

People complaining about it being automatic... Just because it's not manual it doesn't mean it's a crap car, yes we all prefer manual. But automatic is so much more easy in traffic. Oh, and it's better for drags;)

i love the clean and subtle look of this v6. Coupled with a supercharger... so tastefully done. you cannot beat boost and Sleeper status. Great review David.
My gf wants to supercharge her 2015 V6, this will get her pretty excited! More power than my 2014 5.0! Those newer V6's do sound a lot like the G37's when you do a muffler delete with resonated tips, a smooth v6 sound rather than fake raspy V8 noise.

Only downside about that is the price 6 thousand is way to much and either ford or aftermarket needs to develop a cheap turbo with a freakin punch to it

Awesome video - Love superchargers!!! I got my first Mustang in 2014. LOL, they would not finance me on the GT, or anything else, but finally approved me for a 2014 base model 3.7 v6. They pulled the car around for a test drive, and when I seen it, I got sucked in all the way. Here is the thing though...I did the CAI, throttle body, race tune, which added a great deal, then one day...I changed those 273 rear gears out to 410s. I then re-tuned the car for those. I expected some gain, but never imagined what this thing would turn into. For me, it is the wildest beast I have ever driven. The cool part for me, is that it is a black, plain looking V6 2014 stang, and 'everybody' just 'knows' somehow that they are going to rip around me, blow me off the road, show me up, etc... - ROFL, ...They certainly never expected what they got/seen in return! I grew up building hot-rods, but never seen anything like this one. I can't say that I 'created' this car, as all I have done was added the mods mentioned previously. I installed the 410s at 2,000 miles, and the car now has 68,000 on her. (The trick I used, set it on the tight side at .007 - .008 - As they wear, you will come into a great spec of .010 - .013). - Moral of the story, I would love to install a supercharger on my 3.7, but in my situation, I certainly did not need to, and I live in Colorado! In terms of the GT 5.0, I love em'!!! I was just not able to get one, so I worked with what I could get, and what I had. Also, if I keep my foot out of it, I get 24mpg average. I have the automatic, and when used correctly works very well, but a standard would have done better in my situation. I wish TCI would come up with a shifter for this car. :( Oh well..., regardless, that supercharger certainly rocks! AWESOME!!!
the 3.7L v6 is a wonderful motor. things worked out nicely on your car. you have the 6r80 automatic trans and 410 gears? wouldnt 3.31 rear geara have been enough or even just 3.15 since you coming from 2.73. thanks

4.0s are actually very good v6s for the Mustang. I am already at 260k miles on mine and it hasn't made any noise nor any parts had to be replaced. Good ol' 06 Mustangs.

3.7's are no joke. Completely stock mine which is a very heavy convertible with full interior and junk in the trunk ran 14.83 @ 96MPH. With a K&N air filter, accel coil packs, aluminum driveshaft, drag tires and 4:10 gears with a mild SCT tune. Its tripping the quarter in 13.70 @100MPH and that with a motor with over 100,000 miles on it.

They didn't do a turbo 6 because they didn't want the 5.0 to be a second tier option. They're saying the new raptor is going to make 450 plus out of the 3.5 ecoboost. Which kind of makes the Coyote look bad.

I think they don't do like a v6 turbo because that will blow the v8 out of the water, maybe not factory but once tuners get a hold of it, no competition. I mean i bet intake tune exhaust on v6 turbo will beat a v8 with bolt ons.

Awesome. Seen the build of Papi on Tidalwave's fb. Love it. Kind of jealous almost due to the fact I have the similar kit by them for my 2011 challenger 3.6 and Papi makes 11rwhp more than me lol. Is an awesome kit and great feeling to have this kit on my challenger. Great review. Watch your vids all the time.

I used to be so against V6 cars. Nowadays though they are actually formidable. My friend has an 07 v8 mustang and this thing has just as much hp stock.

If ur going for a good cams it won't put the engine under pressure but it would be better to do the valves with the cams all In one

This is a great video for anyone deciding on a v6 or a v8. obviously go for the coyote 5.0 if you can but I owned a 2010 GT that had a novi paxton 1200 supercharger on it and this video has made me take a really close look at the V6s and their potential! The sound is great as well. Only thing I wonder about is the engine being able to handle the extra boost. Mine was turned way down for everyday use but I also had a 4.6 V8.

I have a 2014 v6 mustang and I try not to let the haters get me down. I'll take 300-305 hp any day. My last car was a 2004 v6 mustang and that shit only had like what 190hp? I think my v6 now is plenty fast and I can't wait to mod it up further. My bama tuner comes in in a few days can't wait to see if there's a noticeable difference in power

I got one too, however I'm not disappointed. I have a few different mods in addition to a tune and she runs beautifully...its no gt, but it works great especially as a daily.

With the right exhaust the V6s in the Mustangs can sound incredible. There's a guy at work with a riced up Mustang with the 4.0, decals and random vinyl all over. But then I heard him start it up and the exhaust note is crazy aggressive. I'd also agree with what someone else said below, the 3.7 with the right exhaust can sound just like a GT-R.
In Australia we havent got the mustangs yet but we have the Ford Falcons and when it came to the Turbo Inline 6 vs the N/A V8 the arguments came down to exhaust note
They don't make the v6s fast because they know most are destined to be rental cars.

***** I agree, V6s are not muscle cars, but they still do fit under the pony car category which the Mustang is. It created the category itself. Ill never hate on V6s because theres not really anything to hate on, they are good cars that do what they are built to do. Most V6 owners know that they're not buying the car to be a race car, they are buying them to be a cool looking daily driver. I can see if the owner was being a punk and talking trash in one, but in that case, hate the driver not the car.
***** Mustangs are NOT muscle cars. Mustangs are pony cars and a 6 pot option is essential for it to qualify for the name. Plus the new Mustang could almost pass as a sports car. It handles pretty damn well, it even beat the gen coupe in a few comparison tests.
I think everyone calls the camaro and mustang muscle cars now a days because they are the only cars left that have that muscle car styling and design. In my opinion when you put a v8 in a mustang, then it becomes somewhat of a muscle car, but it will always be a pony car.

Im 17 in highschool and have a 2013 v6. I bought a v6 because its what i could afford and i still think they are awesome cars. Its all black on black rims and i love how aggressive it looks.
Even though im never gonna be supercharging mine since it would be more cost effective to just sell and buy a v8 its cool to see what you can do with the 3.7 and i dont get why it gets all the hate

Alex Panella actually he's right, if one want to get really technical, an engine is a machine that produces power through internal combustion, a motor produces power through electromotive force.

+Horse From Hell The auto 3.7 's have set more records than the manual ones n/a and boosted. Manuals are slowing dieing unfortunately. Ford and GM are working together on a 10 speed automatic right now. I would always pick manual over auto anyday though even if its a bit slower

The reason they didn't do a turbo 6 cylinder is because the entire point of the ecoboost is to make the same (actually a bit more) power than the v6 with better fuel economy, while a turbo 6 would be less fuel efficient, and maybe eat a bit into v8 sales since it could make similar power

So I'm getting a procharger for my 2014 mustang v6 and just wondering how good the time is. I don't know a better real person to ask the you. The included tune what kind of tuner is it and how is the tune itself is it really drivable or should you just get a dyno tune

I work at Ford Chicago assembly we make the Taurus sho which has the 3.5 twin turbo. It's puts out a lot of power just stock before anyone tunes it. The same motor also goes into the interceptor edition of the cars, those I believe are putting out a little over 400wh. I'm not exactly sure on that either but they could easily put the 3.5 twin turbo in the mustangs now

So I have a 1986 Lincoln Mark VII LSC, High Output 5.0, factory headers, (Supposed to have a single turbo but it was taken off). So I've seen other Mark VIIs pull 281hp to the wheels on a dyno, of I throw on the air intake and supercharger kit, should it make similar power, or should I just throw another turbo back in it?
