been van lifing for 15 months now and never looked back…. i have more money saved, more freedom, no roomates, no lease, i own vs rent… the only thing i regret is not starting sooner
@@7topseven7 so right when i bought my first van i had a remote job that i got laid off literally a few weeks agter i purchased it. went back to restaurant work as a server because i did that a lot during college and a little after college. the great thing is that you can chase the busy season with van life. so living / working socal in the summer months and gonna head over to arizona for the winter season!
So last week, i talked to a guy with a van pretty similar to yours, it was blue, and it was immaculate, which is what lead me to speak to him, i figured he restored it and i was curious, he gave me a short tour, then he started to tell me about his van life, turns out, that he purchased the van brand new, in 1989 when he was 26 years old, with money he got from his grandfather passing, he never met his parents and he was raised by his grandfather, he's lived in the van this entire time, he worked at a power plant for 25 years, driving his home to work everyday, the van has just over 300k miles, a real testament to good maintenance, hes retired now, just wandering around the country, interesting guy.. your van reminded me of him.. i wish you well, from utah ✌️
The Four Agreements and The Alchemist are two of my favs. I rehomed both of them to very special people in my life. Looking forward to following along on your journey. Cheers!
@@Itsawildkevin btw, I definitely felt a little soul connection when you said that you were keeping the four agreements and the alchemist 💛 those are also two books that I kept tucked away in a storage box back in VA. Too good to read once and pass on, definitely forever books. I actually read the alchemist again last year in Columbia on my 30th birthday. It never gets old and always something new to discover in the book (and within yourself) Anyway, just wanted to say that I like your taste! Take care and looking forward to video #2 :)
New subscriber here. I look forward to following your page. I'm an urban van dweller in the SF Bay Area, and I love it! I just celebrated 2 years and I should have done it sooner! Yes, the Four Agreements and the Alchemist are very good books to help in this journey called life.
When I knew I was building an apartment on a truck I got rid of my things in stages over a year, made it much easier to "let go" of it all and by the end it actually felt like a relief to get rid of stuff. Don't miss a single thing 5 years later unsurprisingly to anyone who has done it. Its past time I went through my truck and did another cleansing, Keep 20% of things I haven't used in a year and toss the rest and forget I ever owned them in a few months anyway :)
Great video dude! Watching you start your journey with van life inspires me and many others to finally take the plunge too. I’ve subscribed and I look forward to witnessing where this lifestyle takes you :)
Yeah buddy! Been doing this for the last 4 years and wow it’s been a ride. Cheers and safe travels big dog. 😎 plus it’s a constant purge such is life. Blessings
I started in my 50s. It's a process to get used to it. Be patient with yourself & don't get frustrated. It will take time & day-to-day experience to figure out what works for YOU. You got this. 👍
Hey Kevin! Awesome storytelling and editing is on point! chefs kiss😗👌🏼 also just started a van build / life channel :D looking forward to seeing more!!
Just subbed because I'm interested in seeing your journey and progression. Also for this video... Some great shots, fantastic pacing, music went well... I feel like you started really strong but slowed down when you got to the books, I feel like you had the potential to keep the pacing strong and veered off a bit. Not saying any of this to bring you down, I Really enjoyed your video and I think you have the potential to be a great youtuber if you stick with it. You're already far ahead of the average just keep consistent and You'll be successful. Good luck man
@@Itsawildkevin you’re very welcome! Know that your videos have already reached New Zealand 😊 This inspired me to declutter (again). Got rid of 100s of items last year and it’s spring here so it seems like it’s that time again, although thankfully less stuff 😅
Maybe get a insulated box / small cooler to keep your harddrives and photo negatives to protect them from the heat of being in a van that will get hot, as neither will do well getting hot or cold repeatedly with the seasons. Loved the video, looking forward to your adventures 👍🚐

Definitely not, but I already don’t miss the things I’ve donated.
How you keeping that Africa Twin?? I had one this year till some idiot smashed into me and it got written off lol
Bummer man! I keep it at my work place for now and tuck it away for the winter.
I can’t wait to be rich enough to do this
Nice ! But for some reason the like button is missing!!
Where do you keep your motorcycle?? I’m thinking of van life but I don’t know where to put my bike
Luckily my work is chill with me leaving it in their lot. Not ideal, but maybe one day I’ll have a rig that can also haul a moto.
Cost of replacement storage cost how many times a year you use it
Where did the motorcycle go??
Stays in the parking lot 🫣
Go for it

Van tour?
whats the camera here 🤔
My Bad. fixed it!
Where do you keep the bike?
I just leave it at my works parking lot 🤷🏼♂️ they don’t seem to mind.
Question: Did you read "Reality Transurfing"?
Not yet, the premise is intriguing!
How are you going to take the bike?
I work full time so I leave it in the parking lot. I use it pretty frequently to move around town.
What camera are you using?
Going to need a bigger van….
