Everybody's different. I've been married for 25 years have two kids. I do a lot of stuff with family, but I also never mind doing things alone. Before I got married I used to do all sorts of things, including travel, camping, RVing, basically anything and it never bothered me. In fact I enjoyed it. I think that's why my marriage has worked because I never needed somebody there, I found somebody who I wanted there with me. Still do.
These videos are great. You mentioned in a recent video that you were concerned about putting stuff in that we would think is boring, but I think you underestimate how interested some of us are in the lifestyle holistically. It’s like a documentary for us; none of it’s boring to me! I’d be interested in hearing more about how you maintain your relationships while living largely alone as a nomad; that is something I can’t really wrap my head around.
A lot of people may say this boring or lonely. But in my opinion this is the dream for me. What you’re doing is my ultimate goal in life. So peaceful and beautiful. Keep it up man
It may be good for 6 months even a few years, but you will get too lonely. The reality is a lot different than the dream. Loneliness can eat you up from the inside.
Are you living like this? Be carful what you wish for ,, I've been living in my van 6 year's and being woke up in the middle of the night by police telling to move along
Ryan makes videos that cater to everyone; he makes travel vlogs of exciting places, simple videos about his van, and ones such as this one, that just silently showcase what it’s like to be in his shoes. Ryan is awesome
Ryan you define alone and lonely perfect. You are in constant state of traveling and connecting in between your preparation in sharing with each of us. Your style is one to look at as healthy. You take time to connect with family by going home to Maryland (I live there!) and the friends you make are amazing. Your sharing I believe has allowed so many to be take a mental break like this. Yes it can be scary to expensive and you give all the great information in your video’s/. Alone is what you are doing or maybe call it SOLO. Seems so much healthier in sound. When someone is truely lonely they have nothing to look forward to. The lack of energy is so apparent in their appearance to attitude. You are doing a great service to so many who are thinking of disconnecting frrom the proverbial rat race. Stay safe. We love your journey.
I lived in Bethesda, Maryland, decades ago. I left the U.S.A. for Ireland to live off grid for 15 years. Furthermore, I returned once to the USA in 2005 and will never return again.
So peaceful and beautiful, all of it. From the amazing views of mountains and stars, to the sounds of the desert, to the sounds and movements of cooking, cleaning and preparing for each moment of van life. Living minimally forces you to slow down and be mindful and grateful, I think, and you captured that beautifully. Thanks for sharing your journey!
My wife and I have a VERY busy house cleaning company and when we are all done for the day, we find your videos being so relaxing and perfect for unwinding. This one you produced was amazing. Thank you 😊
This video was phenomenal! The editing is spot on. It must have been so hard to do this without talking to the camera. Amazing story telling without words!
I love these kinds of videos. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy all your content and hearing your plans and ups and downs through your journey, but these solemn kinds of videos are always a nice reminder of what it's really like and I really appreciate that. Edit: Also, from one cook to another, I love seeing the kinds of dishes you make while out there on the road. Always puts a smile on my face.
The thing I’ve come to realize about being a fan of these type vids is I love seeing someone else’s plans and routines in action while I sit on my ass.
Appreciate the time you take to set up cameras to record footage of you exploring the landscapes and also getting out of bed to turn them on then getting back in bed so they record you waking up. Makes us viewers feel like we’re there watching you in your natural state.
Bro... Nothing about this is sad... Its actually entertaining to watch you live on a van and carry on that lifestyle for that long. Some people can't do it. I know i can't... I salute you bro.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love this video for the simple reason that, the peacefulness that you convey to the viewer is simply enviable. I have always said, I Don't Mind being alone, but feeling lonely is devastating for me. This is one of the reason's I admire those like yourself, who decided to try the Van-life and get to enjoy all of the beautiful places, that USA has to offer us without any rush. Stay Safe & Healthy... Abrazos
This video made me feel awe and loneliness at the same time. Awe at nature and the freedom to enjoy it at your leisure combined with the loneliness of time passing by without another soul. On one hand I'm jealous and wish I was there but at the same time the thought of living this way all the time makes me almost look forward to going to work tomorrow and seeing everyone there. I think I would enjoy being semi retired and being able to go out camping on my own to decompress now and again. There has to be an adventurous young lady out there that would jump at the chance to go adventuring with you. Good luck with everything.
It is such an amazing video. I love to hear the real life sounds the fire, traffic, footsteps, even gaming :) etc. Also i think that it is great way to show how is life for someone alone. Keep it up.. Cheers!!
These versions of van life are awesome. A van doesn't make your life exciting you have to make your life exciting wherever you are and whatever you are in. The showing of the daily basics of living and maintenance is great. Love when you have added brushing your teeth into the video, priceless! The gas to move those vehicles all the time, wow especially with today's gas prices. It's all a trade in. Some days will be great and you will meet some special people or see some special places. Otherwise welcome to what you are showing here. Love the videos!
I'm so tied down to many responsibilities at home and work. This looks like a welcome reprieve from the daily grind I deal with in the city. For a few days, I just want to explore the country, live a simpler life, and focus on myself. Thanks for sharing.
This "what vanlife alone" video, is a completely different vibe to the other ones. I think Ryan shows how much appreciatiation he has for it in this type of video, where as the other ones did feel kinda sad cuz we felt bad for you. But like i said the story you told in this video made a clear understanding how you take it seriously, and you treat your van like your own home (duh) lol. Ofcoarse it may be bittersweet not seeing friends or family, but we can see that you admire the trade-off of all the amazing places you get to see! Love this video, and even more how different it is from your vlogs, ofcourse you documentarying what goes on in your day, or your recipe for the mouth watering camp fire cooked burrito are even awesome, but i like how you do something different in your videos every day (quite literally). 💖
Aloha Ryan - Even when not a word is spoken…..it’s a great time to be had. How wonderful to live an empowered lifestyle that people like me only dream of. Thank you for taking us on adventures that we may never get to experience, to places we may never step foot on and those days of your “me time” is almost as if for that 14 to 15 minutes I’m having my own “me time” too.
I like both style videos, I'm really interested in buying a van and converting it. I've got a really decent paying job right now and I'm banking some serious cash, videos like these only encourage me to take the leap even more. Great work Ryan, keep them coming.
Loved the story telling, I imagine there’s a lot of silence and very little dialogue being on the road by yourself. Much love and safe travels my dude!
Here's EVERY video... wake up... drive drive drive drive drive someplace.... have dinner... go to bed.... repeat. One of the saddest videos was where you didn't go to Mexico. You constantly put yourself on such a time schedule, here at 11, here at 2, here at 3 - you need to RELAX and spend a couple three days in a place and visit the area/sites - which you do not do.
I love the kind and generous heartwarming atmosphere that you create, your kind, easygoing, warm vibe. ❤I like the essence how you live on. I need to be true to myself and find a job I am passionate about. I want to find a way to live as who I really am.
This looks the best time ever. I am so ready to get away from the hustle of it all and relax. Something about cooking on a fire takes all my stress away too. Great job Ryan!
Super chill video! This is my favorite video you have posted. Hats off to you for editing all those short clips! Was really neat to see the other half :) keep up the good work sir! Stay safe and drive on🖖🏼
The food looked great; my wife does not share my same passion for selling food at local or close-by food events that I make my living off of; I know the feeling of long days on the road working, traveling, and filming alone with a relationship at home, but we share many other passions. Our times apart make the time together so much worth it; hang in there.
So many people live alone, which is not sad at all. A lot of people prefer it. I think your method of living is more interesting because you get to move your home around anywhere you’d like!
Your really having a good adventure. From these alone videos you've done I've noticed one thing you should try, I class B full time myself so I'm speaking from experience. Really stick to a routine morning and Night cleaning. No eating until dishes are done and put away. It will really help keep stuff organized and also eliminate that disappointment of having to do dishes before being able to make food that I see you doing alot. You do you, if your fine with it but I think you will find it more enjoyable when stuff is ready to go.
Gorgeous! Love how you always ALL CAPS “ALONE” … as if that’s the craziest part of the whole scenario. 😬 More people need to be comfortable being alone … it’s healthy! Love the content, Ryan!
old saying goes .. stay in your own lane and keep being you on this wonderful journey . Thing is I feel people about van life think it is really great blah blah but the truth my friend is right here in part 3 and keep em coming cuz this is reality of van life . Keep up the solid work and always stay safe . a nice lil fire is always relaxing .
I think you’re life is awesome man!!! It’s funny what ppl perceive as being alone is.. the loneliest people I know all just happened to be in relationships.. yes- you can be more alone than you ever felt sleeping right next to someone.
I love how tidy and organised this guy is. I could live easier with him in a van than I do my my partner in our house. I wish all guys were like this! Loving the videos btw :) new subscriber from the Uk. Safe travels :) ❤

I so love van life and am very interested in doing it. However, I’m not big on hanging out solo at deserted places like the desert in no man’s land. I actually love seeing and interacting with people. Beaches and major strips would be my hang.
I actually enjoyed this video and all of your videos I've watched. Thank you for keeping it basic(not an insult or slam) typically people have several others traveling to film but talk about being "alone"
I thought this was great! I watch them all & the solo days No commentary ones are awesome! They’re all awesome but showing this is reality! Stay safe Ryan!
Got some comments saying this video is sad, thats wasn’t the intention and I am not Sad 😂 just a peaceful day on the road.
you really didn't say a word the entire video kinda boring to watch without any commentary

Excellent topic idea. 😊
