I really appreciate how practical this video is. I struggle to hold down a single job for extended periods of time due to dissociative identity disorder. I've done well with seasonal work before, though, so this may be a practical, long term solution for me going forward.
OMGOSH … Thank You so much for this information…. I was so depressed because I’m a senior live in care aid who gets treated very badly by some clients because they think they have you trapped because your a nomad … I live in Vancouver BC … and this company is here also …. Forever Grateful …❤
love it!! i didn't know about this app!! also loved the pacing of the video, super calming + informative :-) its amazing yall have been to 39 states in a year, too!
Was just looking at the app last night! Subbed. You two are so beautiful and your vids are calm and relaxing. Plus, im trying to get my husband to convert one of our vans. Keep up the great content and stay safe.
That's so cool and I'm jealous! I'm in Australia and we have nothing like those apps. I don't think it would work here because everything requires so many documents, checks, qualifications and experience for entry-level :( All employers are legally required to contribute to our Super (retirement fund) so it's probably too complicated for a one-shift arrangement.
Thank you for your question! So since this is contract work, you are not an employee of the company so there’s no health insurance offered. Hopefully in the future Instawork will add it to the benefits. However, if you happen to get hurt you may be able to qualify for disability if it is a W2 job. That’s from my experience so far. Our long term plan is to save up for a small house and so far, Van Life has helped us save more than we ever could when we paid rent and utilities! We hope to do a future video about how we save 😊
One question: if you live in your van and lets say you have a job that requires you to be there for about a month, do where would you legally have to park your van for it to stay there for a longer period of time?
We use iOverlander, an app to find free overnight parking. We find the closest and safest option nearby and we park there each night. I don’t take the job opportunity if there’s no where for us to stay close by for a long time. I just find another job somewhere else. The longest job I took was for 2 months and we alternated between Walmart and Cracker Barrel each night 😊
Hello! Thanks for asking. So we unfortunately are unsure of that. But we do know Uber and Amazon offer contract opportunities in many other countries. You can make quick money doing those just like Instawork except it’s for a specific company. We’ll update our channel if we come across any other information!
I follow another vanlifer. she works as a waitress when she needs to raise cash. others work for DoorDash or UberEats, jobs known for their flexibility in scheduling.
Hi there, just signed up for Instawork, how do you go about changing your location to pick up shifts in different cities? I feel like this is easy as just changing your address but I feel like there's another way so that you don't keep changing your home address to make taxes more complicated (I hope that made sense)
How do taxes work if you get jobs in multiple states through the app? Would you have to do taxes for each job? Also, how do you get trained for each job? Whenever I've had a normal job, it usually takes me at least a week or two before I'm used to it and maybe a month or two before I'm fairly proficient. I would think it would be difficult being a new person at a job all the time unless you pick up positions from the same company each time. I think it would also be difficult for employers having people coming and going all the time. I might try it though. I could use some extra money right now.
Hello, thank you for your question! So the app itself (Instawork) handles the taxes. In the US, if you make over $600 then they tax you. Also each job varies depending on if they give you a W2 or 1099. You fill those out on the app so Instawork takes care of it and it applies to all jobs so you don’t have to fill out multiples of the same paperwork. Instawork will basically just combine all the W2 or 1099 work you do and send you the 2 tax forms because you are technically employed through Instawork. Like a recruiting company. As for training, we both have never had issues. It really depends on the job but most of them are very straight forward. People quit jobs everyday so regular training is something that these jobs grow accustomed to. And if they really like you and how you work, they even offer full time through the company. That has happened to us numerous times! Hope this answers your question 😊 We are happy to give you anymore insight!
@@Beanbugging Thanks for the quick and helpful reply. I might give it a try if it has jobs I'm interested in within my area I'm currently in. I'll download it now to see what jobs there are.
Hello! So the average pay varies by state. The lowest I have seen was about $14 per hour. It can go as high as $35hr or more. You can also get paid more depending on your medal level overtime. If you get platinum, Instawork often adds a couple dollars to your paycheck.
In America if the job is W2 it gets taken out. If it’s not you have to file them as a 1099 and it gets deducted when you file them. Same applies to jobs on Instawork. Companies choose which of the two formats they want to pay you.
You literally said, "anyone and I mean ANYONE can get these jobs" but then you contradicted yourself by saying you have to pass a background check. If you have to pass a background check, that means that not ANYONE can get these jobs.
Unfortunately most companies do background checks to ensure their company’s safety. This is usually the norm and can’t be avoided in this case 😕 I said anyone, but I didn’t say everyone. Those are different words. “Anyone” in a group can do it. But “everyone” means the whole group can. So even though “Anyone” can do it, it doesn’t mean “everyone” will be able to. Especially considering it’s not available in all countries. Again, it’s a shame that there’s a lot of discrimination against people without “perfect” backgrounds, but this kind of app that offers employment for different companies must do this.
I really appreciate how practical this video is. I struggle to hold down a single job for extended periods of time due to dissociative identity disorder. I've done well with seasonal work before, though, so this may be a practical, long term solution for me going forward.
Thank you for this info. Would you happen to have a referral code we can use to give you credit when we sign up for instawork?
I do! It’s 2768p1e. Thank you for asking 😊 I’m going to put a pin so that others can see. What a good idea!
This informative video was presented so serenely and professionally that I subscribed without any suggestion by you.

That’s really unfortunate! But thank you for that information. Had no idea the worker laws were so strict there.
How do you have internet connection in the van for remote work
We use a NetGear Hotspot with T-Mobile
Is health insurance offered? What are your long term goals? Are you able to save and invest?

Right, I wish there was another way. However we just change our profile address whenever we visit a new city. Haven’t had any issues with taxes

I don’t know where you parked your bike but in a lot of places it would be gone when you got back.
I parked it at my job where there’s security at that post. I was transferred to another post to work the same job.
The guy who is eating his pizza with a fork
Fun fact! Pizza originates in Italy and the most common way is to eat it with a knife and fork 🙂

Refreshing to see a useful video not trying to promote something. You didn't mention the actual average pay. I'm assuming it's minimum wage.
