Good tips. I didn't know anything about dark retreats except they were dark. I fixed up my room, sealed out light, made sure there was ventilation. Then I got three buckets, one for water, one for pee, and one with sawdust for #2. I fasted and took notes. I did nothing else. I went in to face what ever there was in me to discover. I have done this five times, but it wasn't until the fifth time that I was able to make it a full 7 days. The first one was 110 hours. The rest were somewhere in between. Reasons for coming out varied. After 7 days it took me two days to get my equilibrium back. The only thing that I would add to your list, especially for a single room retreat, is positive air flow/ventilation. I plan on doing #6 in a few weeks. I do them while fasting, which makes it easier for me.
I did three days over Christmas. I can't recommend it enough. I came out positive, calm and at peace. I was lucky, I did it alone but my partner prepared hot food for me. I could've stayed another day at least!
Good afternoon Pete, happy new year. Excellent, glad to hear that you enjoyed the experience and came out feeling calm, positive and peaceful. I look forward to connecting soon, Piers
I have everything ready to do but I don't know ''when I'm going to hallucinate''??? I've already gone a day and a half without eating anything, but I go out every time I wanted to spend 40 days in the dark and without eating anything More and difficult 😢 I've already gone 40 days without eating anything but I don't know if I can do it again Even more in the dark Maybe with a bottle of ayahuasca on the side it might work😊 But I don't have
Hi CM, thank you for your comment. I have not studied with someone like Mantak Chia so I do not know what is a real dark retreat is although I have read his books. I have found the benefits of being in darkness using my method to be similar to those spoken about by MC - profound stillness, inner light and deep calm. Great question, thank you, Piers

This was a great heads up, I’m about to head into a 60 hour one right now
Thanks for sharing Piers. A darkness retreat sounds so wonderful and restorative.
Good afternoon CW, yes, it is exactly that. Really restorative. I have had a really busy week this week and have felt centred. Many blessings, Piers

Is this a true dark retreat? I thought it was supposed to be 100% pitch black even without an eyeshade on to be a real dark retreat.
