Dimash loves traditional music and incorporates Kazakh instruments in many songs ❤️🔝🎤
The gentleman playing the Kobyz is master Olzhas Qurmanbeck, the best player in Kazakhstan 🎻🔝 Kobyz is an ancient tool of the peoples who lived in the East, including nomads. It was used in ancient times by steppe shamans-healers for various rites. Kobyzy is made from a single piece of wood. This is one of the oldest ways of making musical instruments in the history of mankind. It is not due to technical backwardness or the lack of metal devices. According to the ancient beliefs of many people, only in a single piece will the living singing soul of the tree remain, which will sound in the instrument. The open body and strings of the kobyz from a bunch of 30-60 untwisted horse hair give a very thick, overtone-rich timbre.
The flute called Sybyzgy - made of reeds or wood 50-70 cm with 3-5 holes, which is particularly common in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. The instrument was particularly popular with shepherds, although difficult to play, and was also used by storytellers. These storytellers, called Akyn in Kyrgyzstan, are a central element of Central Asian culture. They went across the country and told stories and legends in chants and with music, for example with a Sybyzgy.
Finally The dombyra (домбыра) is a lute-style instrument. It is an ancient and quintessential piece of Kazakh culture and identity. In its most popular form, the dombyra has two-strings strung down a long, skinny neck and a pear-shaped body, flat at the front and rounded on the backside. The dombyra is, in fact, so important to Kazakh national identity that there is a popular saying: “Naǵyz qazaq qazaq emes, naǵyz qazaq - dombyra” (Нағыз қазақ қазақ емес, нағыз қазақ - домбыра), which, translated, means “A real Kazakh is not a Kazakh, a real Kazakh is a dombra.”
💙💛🔝🌹🌹❤️🎤👏👏👏
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You earned the pin of the comment!!👏👏👏
2-3 times? I have been listening to those songs every day for hours for 3 years now and can't stop.
This is an old Kazakh folk song, but of course Dimash made a new arrangement for it, like only Dimash can.
I couldn't help the tears, the first time I look at the lyrics, what happened in 1916, happens now in 2022.... It's so sad. dimash i love you 💛💙💛💙
Salem DIMASH❤️DEARS❗️👋🏽 🇰🇿
Solamente dimash es el mejor 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
The background to many of the songs he sings is as interesting as his delivery of them. Many of them speak to actual historical events or biographical stories. He sings the stories of life.
Filmed in Dimash's home studio during Covid. Story of young Kazkh farm boy being conscripted into the Russian army in WWI. Kazakh Folk Song - earth and sky are prized in the culture - the sounds produced by the Kobyz represents the earth and animals and the flute and the rain stick sounds represent the sky and birds.
Here he is singing in his native Kazakh. This is a great kazakh poem set to music by a Kazakh composer (I forget his name). But this particular arrangement is Dimash and the musicians here. The poem is in the melancholic tradition and describes a very difficult period in Kazakh history when young men were conscripted into war, forced to leave everything and travel far away to take up their posts.
The instruments play environmental impressions; the barking dogs as the young soldier leaves his village in the night; the howling wolves in the high mountain passes; the winds blowing through the alpine forests; the morning life on the great Eurasian steppe.
Thank you for the info...the history of the song is very powerful!
This song its my favorite Dimash songs in kazak keep reaction to him we are with you ❤ 💜 watching
The instrument called kobyz
Arizona Dear Here be sure you react to RIVER OF LOVE ON HIS CHANNEL YOU WILL SEE HIM PLAY THE DOMBRA .
SUNG WHILE SITTING - Breath control for days. Dimash swims everyday for 2hours no WONDER HIS beath capacity is the size of a great white shark
That makes sense! It explains the breath Control...swimming helps to increase lung capacity!! Good point!!👍🤩
Momma...you are blasting your way to Di's Land....
You are my favorite reactor. I am enjoying all of your reactions. You make my day. You feel like I feel about Dimash and I'm 70 years old.
Awhhh... that warms my heart! Thank you so much!🥰🥰
Beautiful reaction!!! Dimash the best
All Dimash’s Kazakh songs are must sees. His love for his country and people and for Kazakh life and culture sit deep in Dimash’s soul. Amazing performance🙏🏻🇦🇺
Love the intimacy of this performance and enjoy hearing his native tongue. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Since you asked: The Kobyz (co-biz) or kylkobyz (keel-co-biz) is an ancient Turkic bowed string instrument, spread among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs, and Tatars. The Kyrgyz variant is called the kyl-kyyak. The qobyz has two strings made of horsehair. The resonating cavity is usually covered with goat leather.
Muy hermoso...Un angel
Dimash singing in his native-language is my absolute favourite Dimash. These aren’t his most popular songs with Western ears, but I loooooovvveeee them. A Canadian Dear 🦌🇨🇦💜🇰🇿
Me too! Another Canadian Dear.🇨🇦
@@anahills3836 nice to meet you Ana 👋🏼
@@marisagettas It was nice to see a familiar flag! I'm in Southern Ontario, whereabouts are you?
@@anahills3836 Toronto, Ana :) Although I spent a lot of my summers in Port Colborne (on Lake Erie), and I spent 8 years in London for school and work.
His Kazakh songs are absolutely intense and wonderful. They are close to his heart and he puts his everything into them. Daididau Bastau is just beautiful. He also plays the Dombra at the beginning.
ATMOSPHERIC...that's what I describe the musical intro. Sounds like a camp set up in the mountains. The wolves howling and/ or elk bugling, dogs barking while the wind blows and the sound of trickling water is haunting.
DIMASH says he wants to share his homeland's culture and musical heritage with the world. If not for YT & reactors like you, Lady L, where would I have ever discovered him? Yep. WHERE??🌎🇰🇿👽
That's an awesome description of the instrumentals. I love interpretive music where you can describe how music makes you feel and this song is a prime example!🤩😍👍👍
Love💜love, Dimash 🇷🇺🤗👍
you propably dont win a ticket, you must buy one. After seeing him first time only about 8 weeks ago, I was so blown away, I bought one, In Prague, in April. I live in the western United States, this will be a 11,000 mile trip.
I like your reactions, they are very intuitive and you have a great sense of humour
This song is a Masterpiece!!!!Amazing Dimash 💞🤩👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💞💞💞💞💞💞
The same Kobyz player plays a big part in "Stranger" and "Qairan Elim". At the beginning of the song, he and the man with the rain stick are imitating the sounds of wind, wolves, and barking dogs which the men would hear as they were being force marched to participate on the Russian side of WW 1 in 1916. There is an earlier version of this song which gives the historical setting in the description of the video.
That start… 🤪🤪🤪. Dimash looking like he’s “using the force” was spine tingling but only added to the brilliance of his performance here 👏🤩🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿
Agreed! This is the best exercise of the "mind" as well! I sleep so good after his music!!
I was so busy watching you and laughing at your Dimash reactions yesterday that I nearlly missed a dinner date..wasn't even dressed🤪...did a 30 sec costume change when he knocked on the window ready to pick me up..didnt put the chooks away and nearlly drowned them😳😳 by the rain that fell while I was out.
Not only Dimash is distracting😄😄😂😂
Enjoying this one now👍👍👍its such a beautiful song and instrumentation❤❤❤
Don't miss dinner! LOL! That's funny!🤣🤣
You have been Dimashified lol 😆😆😆. Non stop reaction. I listened to him non stop too when I first discovered him a few years ago.
This song is a Kazakh folk song written from the horrific time when thousands and thousands of Kazakh men were forced to fight in WW1 for Russia. Kazakhstan has bee invaded by many different countries (having to constantly fight for its independence) for its rich resources; for hundreds of years. There is so much pain from the loss of lives in this song. Dimash captures the rich history and the emotion of the song perfectly.
The kobyze is the name of the 2-stringed instrument that the man was playing. It was considered a very sacred instrument for many years and only shaman were allowed to play it. It really does sound like wind and animals…. Which is what it is known for 😀
It is so beautiful! I was in the ball park! 😃😃👍🤩Yay!
@@ladyluckclubllc you sure were! Music is the universal language….. besides!! You know you can read your husband like a book 😎
Right? He just makes me feel Alive and he is so humble and sweet, I feel like a Proud Mama as well. What a wonderful man, God bless him. Thank you for ur reactions. ❤️
This is one of my favorites. There is no need to understand the lyrics. The way Dimash performs this song along with the native instruments just tells the story for itself. Truly breathtaking and beautiful. It reminds me of our Native American brothers and sisters music.
This is my favorite of Dimash's songs so far. I love the simplicity of the setting - 3 instruments that are able to create such beautiful sounds, Dimash chillin' with his legs criss-crossed like he is in deep meditation, then add his unbelievable voice! Oh, it pierces my soul!
Native instruments played in a traditional style is like hearing the essence of the country and in this music as it started I heard struggle and pain.
The sound of the kazakh steppes......and soldiers going to Russian trenches during the Great war on food
Excellent, excellent excellent excellent excellent 👍👍👍👍👍👍
This is Dimash's music room & studio at his new home .in Nursultan.
Thanks!!! Each time I listen to Samaltau is blowing my mind!!! Mesmerizing…❤️
Isn't it great, isn't Dimash great? 🤗🥰 I love all his songs, no matter what style, no matter what language he sings in, but his songs in Kazakh are something special. Dimash is a great patriot, he loves his homeland more than anything (except his family) and you can feel his Kazakh soul, especially when he sings in Kazakh. By the way, the name of the Kobyz artist is Olzhas Qurmanbek. He is a good friend of Dimash and an absolute master on this instrument. He can be seen playing Kobyz in several videos of Dimash. Dimash's big goal has always been to introduce his homeland and the beautiful culture of Kazakhstan to the whole world. That's why he incorporates Kazakh instruments into his music wherever he can. Especially the Kobyz and the Dombra. Most of his fans have never seen or heard about the Kobyz before Dimash introduced it to us through his music and his videos. Me neither. Today I love Kazakh instruments, especially the Kobyz. It is a wonderful instrument that can phenomenally convey the sounds, atmosphere and vastness of the Kazakh steppe. It's downright magical. You should check out Dimash's MV "Qairan Elim" too. There you'll also hear the instrument, played by Olzhas. Thank you for your reaction, Dear. 😊 I'm really like and enjoy your reactions to Dimash.
Yes! I love Qairan Elim!
Thank you for the beautiful comment! I learn a lot from you guys in the comment section!👍🤩
Out of this world 🌎 again
Thanks for sharing your reaction with us..it's such a beautiful & mesmerising traditional kazakh song...Dimash perform it with such passion & conviction...his love for his motherland is deeply moving & his patriotism is so admirable.. another great performance by Dimash...👏🎵🎶🎼🎙🤴💙❤🤗
kazakh folk instrument called Kobyzebysk. There is another Salmaltau done in full production, like they. are out on the Kazahk plains with animal sounds in the night. On the wall are direct styles of Dombras, different progressions of Dombras from over the years. Dimash' Grandfather is a great Dombra player. All young boys learn to play Dombra & some girls also.
👍🤩
The kobyz ( ko be iz) is a sharman’s spiritual ceremonial healing instrument that became the violin. It has 2 horsehair strings, a twin open chamber, and a lower chamber covered in goatskin, and is played with a bow and all that beautiful hand and finger manipulation to produce both music and animal and nature sounds from the Great Steppe.
Dimash also frequently plays a dombra, also with 2 strings and deep half round almost bowl with wooden face. It is Turkic/Kazakh played with fast strumming as they don’t echo like guitars. These are in all his concerts with traditional singing and dancing.
Dimash loves his nation, it’s disturbing history, it’s music and artistry, and produces it at every opportunity. It is a democracy since the USSR collapsed, of about 18 million people, 60% Muslim, and 30% Christian. Dimash/ Dinmukhammed Kanatuly Qudaibergen(Given By God) was known to be destined for this in the womb.
He has been awarded as a Kazakhstan National Treasure by the President.
This song is about a young man amongst others, who were conscripted by Russia in the 1st World War, and were travelling and struggling on foot along the Great Steppe to their appointment, and wondered whether he would get to see his elderly parents ever again.
Beautiful reaction again. It is great to see people react with genuine love for Dimash. He is such a treasure.
I was crying watching this with you. Thank you for the wonderful reaction💕💕💕
The name of the instrument is "Kovitz"...back on wall is a "Dombra"...
... all Kazakh instruments - Kobyz (stringed instrument), Sybyzgy (side blown flute played using the underside of the top lip as opposed to in the mouth cavity, with major sounds made with actual inhalations of air as opposed to exhalations).
🙏🙏 This song is divine. She's tragic, but she's also beautiful. It magnifies pain, it's a poem. I listened to it a lot in 2020, during confinement, tears came to me in front of so much beauty. I think it's one of my favorites. Some of the instruments on the walls are gifts from Dears.
Thank you Lady Luck, for your good humor which does me a lot of good. Greetings from France
Hi. This is one of my favourite Dimash songs. If you have time yes please do watch the 2021 digital show version too at some point just for the amazing visuals.
Dimash espectacular
Lady Luck… I know you’ll have an extensive list of Dimash requests, but I certainly hope “Kieli Meken (Holy Land)” is one of them🤞😄🤞
Yep! Did that too!
@@ladyluckclubllc … Oh yeah, I saw that one ☝️😆. Your “boy you come dance for mamma baby yeahhh!!!” line cracked me up 😆😆😆
Totally agree with you, This is the most unbelievable song I ever heard. Thank you, love your reaction x
😍👍
Not only a brilliant singer ,but also extremely talented with instruments...he sure can play lots of different ones...check out this one ua-cam.com/video/FyWuFaNK_7g/v-deo.html Bravo Dimash 👍 Also you should check out Love is like a dream ua-cam.com/video/xLEQzfqO_l0/v-deo.html You will throw socks and faint when you hear the angelic part at the end 😇

My favorite version of Samaltau..yes, it is an eargasm.. like most of his peeformances.
In musical terms, how do you get from neutral to top gear in one go???… It’s simple - WATCH DIMASH DO HIS THING ☝️😄
OK! My brain in overload...heart palpitating...ears screaming for more!
@@ladyluckclubllc … Make sure you keep 9-1-1 on speed dial… Just in case!!! ☝️😄🚑🏥
I like your energy and #Dimash is out of world singer.
Great reaction ...👍❤🇮🇩
He's the Best. The Master at his craft!
TRULY A MASTERPIECE 💕💞💗💖one of favourites thank you gorgeous 😘

Here is playing the best Kobys player in the world, Dimash’s friend Olzhas Qurmanbeck.
This bowl-neck lute played with a bow is is an old Turkic stringed instrument and called Kobys or Kylkobyz in Kazakhstan. The Kyrgyz variant, for example, is called the kyl-kyyak.
The Kobys is the oldest string instrument in the world and, according to a German scientist, it spread beyond the borders of the nomadic area of Central Asia and became the mother (prototype) of all European string instruments.
(Turkic means: The Turkic peoples are a collection of ethnic groups from Central, East, North and West Asia as well as parts of Europe and North Africa who speak Turkic languages.)
A legend about Kobyz says that this instrument was created by the great steppe narrator Korkyt-Ata, who lived in the 10th century and that the tool is charged with magical and even mystical properties and sounds like animal voices. In addition, the Kazakh people believed that the spirits of their ancestors spoke to them through this music.
The old outlook and piety towards their instruments and music was constantly preserved in traditional Kazakh society and ensured the highest spiritual level of musical art and a special respectful attitude towards musical instruments. Simple people, for example, did not dare to touch the shaman's Kobyz. It is said: The balance between the courses of life and death on earth can be maintained by playing the Kobyz.

OMG Just realized you haven't reacted to Qairan Elim! Very timely. Please do this one soon.
Halo Lady watching SAMALTAU the digital show version is more exciting👍❤
Omg.....I’m so glad you did this one. This performance imo is a masterpiece. You must do Daybreak at Bastau with lyrics and knowledge of background story also. Another masterpiece. You don’t get any more real or beautifully delivered a meaningful song than from Dimash Kudaibergen. Thank you.
Good Morning Lady L.!!!🥰 His Kazakh songs are just Incredible...and sometimes overlooked! Great that you did this one!!👌👍👍❣❣❣❣🥰
This is an extraordinary Dimash's performance, indeed... Someone has told you the instrument you mention is "kobyz" 👏👏👏
Sure did! I pinned a comment that list all of the beautiful instruments!
I love this one too! I really hope "Daybreak" Bastau 2017 is on your list. It's important to get the backstory of the song (Gloria Wu channel from The Singer performance.) He performed it on The Singer, but was really sick at the time. The Bastau performance is one of the most powerful performances I have ever witnessed.
Yes it is! 👍😍😍😍

@Lady Luck I know you can appreciate this as much as I do, go to the singer ep 10 and listen to the first performer Terry Lin and if you dont want to hear him fast forward to 8:50 and listen to that part him and Dimash are pure heaven. Listen and let me know what you think
I will check that out!
I love that you always remind your audiences to check his youtube channel. I guess you are a dear now. 😊😊😊

This was such a beautiful comment! Thank you! And you are right... music connects with us on a spiritual level. It is so powerful that it can help shape the human mind and enhance our critical thinking skills. That's why the home remedy of "playing music on the belly while pregnant helps babies brains to develop" is so popular! I actually did that...put headphones on my belly and played The Nutcracker non-stop! 🤣🤣🤣
When Kazakhstan belonged to Russia, young Kazakhs were forced, by the Russian Empire, to leave their homes and fight 35 years until their total massacre. The story of one of these young people, who desperately marches into a war that is not his, besides the sadness of leaving his parents, elders, with no one to take care of and the certainty that he will never see the mountains (“tau”) of Kazakhstan again generated this wonderfully sad song! In addition to Dimash's talent, we have a wonderful ambience and two fantastic musicians: Olzhas - Master in playing Qobyz (Kobyz, who looks like a violin), the other who plays “Pau de Chuva”! A supernatural journey to the plains of Kazakhstan, through Music!
The string instrument is a kobyz also a water stick is used, not sure what else I think side flute. Dombro is one of the ones on the wall.
🤩👍
Pls do. ( love is like a dream ). And ( opera2 )
👍👍👍👍👍
Samaltau is Kazakh folk song.
Samal- a gentle or cool breeze
tau-mountain, hill
Samaltau is a gentle or cool mountain breeze. The word samal is associated with anything pleasant.
Samaltau was supposed to be performed live at the festival but due to COVID-19 lockdown in Kazakhstan went live stream online.
I'm 1916 during WW1 the Russian Empire suffered human and property losses. The burden of restocking was laid on subject nations, including Kazakhstan. Millions in hectares (sq feet) of fertile lands were forcibly taken away from Kazakhstan. Taxes increased from 3 to 15 times! Livestock and property were requisitioned (an official order laying claim to these), then finally it came to the "requisitioning" of people. The Russian tsar issued a decree (or draft) that half million Central Asians, aged 19-43, be mobilized for army and labor brigades for the war effort. This decree sparked the Kazakh uprising because the real reason was Russian colonization and usurpation of Kazakh lands. The song tells the story of a 28 y.o man who was forced to recruit walk to Omsk (Russian city) register for the Russian military, he walked 15 days with thoughts of despair. So his to Omsk was anything but "pleasant."
Wow... thanks for the historical context! I appreciate it Marcos😃!
Until 1991, Kazakhstan was under the authority and rule of Russia.
Their precious men were sent to fight wars for Russia and so many lost their lives.
Families torn apart as war does.
This ended in 1991 when Russia gave 16 countries freedom, and they are all now republics.
Kazakhstan was one of those republics. Dimash was born in 1994, and the control heaped on them by Russia is still very fresh in the minds of his family. Still, they are right in proximity to all of the current goings on.
Few paid attention when a mass of Kazaks begin filling the streets in the hometown of Dimash.
Their protests were the sudden hike in fuel prices Russia was heaping on them.
Within 48 hours, Russian tanks had arrived in Aktobe and the Kazaks began climbing onto and into their tanks attacking the Russian solders. President Putin arrived in Kazakhstan to meet with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, president of Kazakhstan.
Matters were settled in short order and Putin left. This was just a few of weeks before the current conflict began.
Dimash is a great patriot to his homeland and I admire him for that
As always, I love your reactions to Dimash.
