You're absolutely correct about Dimash not using autotune. He has 26 yrs of classical training under his belt, he doesn't need it. 😂
His first voice teacher said he had perfect pitch and he's not built like most people anyways. People really do just wanna hate because they are jealous, bitter, or just bored.

Thank you for bringing up that Dimash is not using auto tune ( I HATE auto tune! ). Dimash is the best singer on the planet! He has the best voice and delivery on the planet. He is bringing back quality and dedication to singing and music instead of faking it through and not even trying to sing. Thank you! Dimash is the real deal!

Dimash has now released a series of three Kazakhstan-themed songs, and this one is the first one. The second one is a music video that Dimash co-directed titled Qairan Elim, and it is stunning. The third one, Qaraǵym-aı, came out only a couple of days ago, Dimash and a piano alone on stage with a heartwrenching homage to his teacher and grandfatherly mentor who died from Covid-19.

THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!!......
Samaltau. Samale Mountain is a sad song about a young soldier. He sing about what will happen with his family when He goes away about Mountain and Sea. This a tresure song of kazakhstan and Dimash sing this like no one. The musical instrument is from Kazajistán and name “KOBIZ” of two strings. Using folk arrangements like “Sybyzgi”, beautiful Kazakh wind instrument. This live performance with his instrumentalists friends is a firm favourite of mine. His live singing is impeccable like always, even sitting cross legged on a piano stool. Streamed from his home, his music room it wen down a storm at his first appearance at the Tokio Jazz Festival although he was disappointed when it was canceled he was overjoyed when they decided to livestream it. Greetings from a Mexican Dear!......❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿

Thanks again for another wonderful reaction. I too, don’t like to see the sub titles while I am watching Dimash sing a song for the first time. I will put them on after I listen to the song at least a couple times, then I don’t find it so distracting, and then I can react to the actual lyrics. Dimash sings, not only with his magnificent voice, but also with his entire mind, body and soul. He becomes the MUSIC. And for those who have any doubts about if he can possibly sing as great as he does, need to go to see him live in concert. And see with their own eyes, that he is a gift to the world of music.🎼🎶🎤❤️🇺🇸

This was filmed in Dimash's home studio in Kazakhstan. The stringed instrument is a Kobyz (Ko-bees), the flute is a sybyzgy, both are traditional Kazakh instruments. The song is a Kazakh song about a young man who is taken from his family and forced to register with Russia as military or to work in the labor camps. He is walking from his hometown of Samal to Omsk (1500km) through the Great Steppes and lamenting about the leaving his homeland for a strange land, losing his homeland, and never seeing his aging parents again.
So very glad you saw and commented on auto tune. He just plain and simple doesn't need it, and it is very obvious in this video. "Bro's not using auto tune...sorry!" ❤️
He does take you somewhere else when he sings. I have wondered if he is a synesthete, with Chromesthesia, and seeing music in colors. It is by no means a bad thing, and many musicians have it, but it may help to explain how it seems effortless for him to take you into the song with him. When you watch his eyes they seem to be looking at something we don't see. Again, it is nothing negative, and in some ways very much a gift for a musician. Stay safe and healthy! Blessings to you!

I'm so glad that you dissed the auto-tune hype! There are live videos out there of Dimash singing where his sound in his ear pieces has gone off yet he's still on key. He is signalling to his team that he has no sound but keeps going & hits those notes perfectly. I don't know if that has any bearing on the auto-tune debate, but it impressed the hell out of me! Since childhood teachers have said he has perfect pitch but some don't believe there is such a thing. I think Dimash proves there is. He has another song he recorded for the Tokyo Jazz Festival, recorded live in a studio and its a cover of a Japanese song called Ikanaide, originally recorded by Koji Tamaki, which is a stunning song. I loved it so much I learned the Japanese lyrics (I don't speak any other language btw). Loved your reaction to this one. I must say I love all of Dimash's Kazakh folk songs 🎵 😊

It always weirds me a bit-Dimash is sitting there in a meditative pose, with his eyes closed, the camera pans down and then back up-and there he is with his eyes open. Notice he never looks at the camera-the young man he represents (and becomes in a sense) is somewhere inside himself remembering his homeland and previous life.
The rain stick at the end-running water-but in the context of this song, I always think of falling tears.

My observation on Dimash is that he takes many songs and makes them into operatic pieces, with drama and often singing the many voice parts that make up the characters and singing them himself. They come out as mini operatic masterpieces. Not so much this one but you are drawn into the story without words.

I think this was performed in Dimash’s own home studio, because of the Covid restrictions, and so the Tokyo Jazz Festival was done online.
The instruments on the wall and being played are traditional Kazakh.
The Kobyz …ko by iz… is a sharman’s ceremonial violin type with a half open chamber, and the base half covered in goatskin, and horsehair bow.
Used for healing and traditional ceremonies, and reflects animal sounds and wind on the Great Steppe.

At that " controversial" point, Dimash portrays the echoing Samal mountain.
Did you hear wind, birds, wolves, dogs, river, echoing mountain, the caravan of conscripted soldiers on their way to the war front in world war 1, the rain? The lyriics are an original anonymous text of one of these young men who were forced to go fight and had to say goodbye to their homeland and family.

🌷🌷👏👏👏👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ I held off tapping the like button, and waited for your “controversial comment”... Ha! Loved it! I never doubted for a minute that he doesn’t use auto-tune, but hey, it’s great having experts prove it! 👏👏👏👏 In the early days, when the very first American Dear (Alisa Kellogg) went to Kazakhstan to meet and hear Dimash at the Bastau concert (2017), he kindly met her backstage in between rehearsals and sat on the floor to chat with her. Then he offered to sing for her and launched off... She had to stop him as she was breaking down and crying... It wasn’t about proving no auto-tune, or no lip-syncing... it was simply trying to give back to a fan who flew thousands of miles to hear him sing.

Regarding the autotunes, Ken Tamplin mentioned Dimash does not need one but he (or more so the producer) uses it for effect in his music videos Screaming just because it’s an MV. I think he implies that Dimash never used autotunes in any live performances. The most he ever did in live is only the reverb.

I was in his concert in Brooklyn, NY and I mesmerized by the power of his voice. I think Dimash used autotune in "Screaming" recording and I don't like it. It didn't sound like the "original" Dimash's voice that we all love and in my opinion its live (no autotune) version so much better. This performance (Samaltau) is one of my top list. The stringed instrument is a Kobyz, traditional Kazakh, Bashkir and Tartar. At 3:08 the sound is used to represent dogs barking, which is part of the story he is telling. You must take a look at his video, Qairan Elim, where the Kobyz is featured again . He’s singing this entire piece while sitting cross legged! The fascinating thing is that Dimash embraces his culture and as a result of his other work people are listening to the more esoteric Kazakh music and then they research to learn more and broaden their musical horizon. In addition to being a fabulous singer he’s a stealthy teacher!

The more I listen to this song the more I love it. His voice is so strong in conveying the message and auto-tune is something our Mr. golden voice does not use.
The instrumental takes it beyond to another world as well.
    Thank you for the reaction.

Not weird at all, re your subtitles not on bit. I've been a fan of Rammstein for 20 years, and apart from one or two songs, I've actively avoided subtitles or lyric translations.
Dimash is such a talent that you don't need to know the language he sings in, because you feel the emotion through his performance.

My understanding is that the 2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival, as is had the misfortune to take place in the early stages of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, switched format - wisely - to a live online streaming event, and Dimash's Samaltau performance was one of the online streamed admissions, originally video recorded in a studio in Kazakhstan.

Eh only the ignorant say its autotune. No matter how many videos show Dimash singing acapella without a mic, they won't believe what they see/hear and would rather ignore the simple fact that he worked hard daily since age 5, honing his craft to get to this stage. So why give those haters and sadass people a mention at all. Who cares about their opinions? Let them bask in their ignorance and let us enjoy MORE DIMASH!🤗

Dimash's vocal chord is a autotune itself. So he doesn't need a software for that.

I think it makes some of us mere mortals feel better to think that Dimash uses autotune or lip-sync because then we don't need to deal with his near super power music abilities. But all you have to do is to watch some of his concert footages it'd become immediately apparent that you are indeed confronted by a one-in-a-billion special human being. I know it's taxing to deal with such greatness because it makes us feel so small. But you only have two choices - deny him and remain in a colourless world that settles with mediocrity , or surrender and follow him to the land beyond anything you could possibly imagine. I know which way I'd go.

This is one of my favourite dimash performances... I've followed him for 2 years now and he always stuns me I just love the primal feel of this song, even though I've heard this before when you said close your eyes , I did and it really evokes nature and sad longing and bravery... my two cents ....

I know this is an old reaction, but watching this I would like to suggest 3 newer Dimash songs that I think you would really love. One is Ikanide, which is the first song he has sung in Japanese. It is incredibly beautiful and moving. The other is Stranger, the one from New Wave. It will give you medieval / Game of Thrones vibes. Of course The Story of One Sky is a must as well! It is his epic masterpiece with the video being almost 14 min long.
