In my opinion, the milk means that there's something childish and innocent about him, despite his job, just like Matilda's cigarettes mean she's had to grow faster.
I think there are a lot of reasons there's so much milk
The obvious one is the symbolism of wholesomeness and nurturing.
The second is that the stark white of the milk is a nice contrast to the predominant colors in the film. (The palette is mostly browns and yellows)
Third, it seems to be part of a relatively healthy diet. If you look closely, you'll see milk, pasta, and fruit in his kitchen. I didn't notice any vegetables, but I wouldn't be surprised to find them.
Fourth, based on what can be seen of his diet, it seems that he's not eating anything (animals) that has to be killed.
Fifth. Milk, pasta, and a bit of fruit seem like the sort of things you might find in a convenience store (I'm not sure what they're called in New York). If you're a hitman, it is healthy to be paranoid. Alternating between various shops might be helpful in avoiding patterns that others (like the police) could use against you.
Yep
Also, when we were kids, what did we drink with breakfast, and possibly other meals? Growing up in the 70s, milk was considered part of a "healthy diet" for kids, and Leon's kinda still a kid at heart.... arrested development.
Couldn't have said it better.
@@EdwardTemple agreed
Natalie Portman has said the moment Luc Besson wants to make a sequel about an adult Mathilda entering the world of "cleaning" for real, she's up for it.
Would be awesome! 😀
It would have been amazing but I don’t see that happening now
I do not know for sure what is true or not about the accusations towards Luc Besson's behavior, but it's shady to say the least, and most likely just another Harvey, with a more pedo vibe.
Natalie's parents were mad at Besson for... the cigarette scene. If he got that barely, you can imagine the rest didn't exactly went smoothly, luckily for her.
From the way she behaves about the movie after that, very innocently, one can tell she got out of it well protected. I'm super glad she did.
I do like the movie very much. I do like my French movies in general. I hate it when Americans explain to the rest of the world what is right or wrong regarding love & sex while happily shooting people or starting race wars over and over.
But I must admit that when they are protecting the children from this kind of shit, I very much appreciate it.
Besson is a sex predator, we all know that now. Doesn't change the fact he is an interesting movie director, but he certainly does deserve some (not yet sure if all) of the hate too.
Because of that his career is over, and that's a good thing. We can have interesting directors AND decent human beings to take over.
It would have worked maybe a decade ago..
Unfortunately, Luc Besson left the company that he made this film for and they're bitter about it so there'll never be a sequel to Leon/The Professional. The closest thing to a sequel for this is Colombiana
The whole reason this movie exists is that Luc Besson made the film Nikita, where Jean Reno appears in a single scene as a "cleaner" to dispose of a guy the main character killed. And in those few minutes he made such an engaging character that Besson decided to make a whole movie about him.
Never new that. Thanks!
I can not possibly recommend La Femme Nikita enough.
"I never minded the little things..."
Plus he really wanted to bang Natalie Portman!
In a interview he said that this movie was made in order to make money for "the 5th element", accidentaly it become a cult.
I absolutely love this movie! Gary Oldman wasn't scripted to scream "EVERYONE!" he wasn't feeling the scene and decided to take things into his own hands and motioned discreetly at the sound guy to take his headphones off. He caught the actors and crew completely off guard lol. Epic!
He's a legend!
The sniffing part wasn't in the script either, that's why the other actor looked freaked out
His role in "The fifth Element" is also a blast!
@@BulldogMack700rs Amazing for sure
Gary Oldman is a chameLEON. A baddie in this, fifth element. Count Dracula in Bram Stokers Dracula, later as Gordon in Chris Nolan Batman trilogy.
Fun fact: in the resident evil games, the character Leon has a handgun called the Matilda and in the fourth game hard mode is called ‘professional’
I've always felt that Leon was the first person Matilda felt protected by and who truly cared about her. She needed a hero and he was it.
aka She needed a father
I think the milk is symbolic for how Leon never really grew up - inside he's still a child and he never drank anything else.
Milk is viewed as "wholesome". And like when he goes and watches Gene Kelly movies....wholesome entertainment. Leon, as a whole, is a really good person if you cut out his profession. He's like a killer Forrest Gump. lol That's my take on it anyway..
I agree.
30 years later we get Forrest Gump 2: THE LUMBERJACK
"Mama said it's time for you to diiie."
@@chrisjfox8715 Followed by Forrest Gump 3/ Gump Fiction. "I'ma have to get medieval on your but-tocks"
@@gog583 Staaaaap!!!😂😂😂😂
It appears you viewed the “American” version. You need to see the “European” version where Leon actually takes her out on hits. There is also a scene where Mathilda asks Leon to be her “first” and he refuses. He then explains how he came to work for Tony. It has about 20 minutes more footage that was deemed to controversial for U.S. audiences.
Wow! Land of the free censures movies! Not so free after all...
It's funny- I saw the North American edit in the theatre in 1994 (in Canada). It wasn't until I watched a reactor view the original cut last year that I saw the unedited version bits. I was dumbfounded not only at the fact there was a longer edit of this film... but the contents! Definitely made me "uncomfortable" but I'm sure that was probably the point. Didn't detract from how good the film is for me though.
Why would you say that nobody needs to see the European version. The European version is the original and a much better film. Or maybe your just too uptight to appreciate it.
@@mddbatman1588 wrong. It's the real version
@x wrong
This was the first time I saw Natalie Portman in a movie. Instantly loved her. ❤
Did they even know it was Natalie Portman? :D They didn't even talk about her performance.
@@SCharlesDennicon right. I don't remember hearing them noticing it was her at all, but I mean, how can you not recognize her? She might've grew up but her face looks exactly the same!
Funny, they didn't say anything about Michelle Pheifer as Catwoman either, when they watched Batman Returns. 🤔
@@SeeliaVachon I guess actors in general aren't their thing.
@@SCharlesDennicon They're just in it for the ride. They don't give a shit who's driving (I just made that up).
Was also her first movie which is really impressive as her first role
Natalie Portman's first acting job and she was amazing. When Leon's door opens and the light shines on her is just so good. Great movie, under-watched by many. Eric Serra's score (which was also very similar to Goldeneye) is brilliant.
Her best performance fasho. Sad that she went from that to Thor Love and Thunder
Think there will be a part 2 with Natalie being a cleaner
@@lavarball528 Hey, she was one of the best parts of Thor: LaT, and it certainly isn't the worst movie she's been in
@@becauseimbatman1391 nah, she's 100% one of the worst parts in all the Thor movies, especially in the recent one. Christian Bale was the only thing that made that movie bearable. Imo, every performance after black swan has been mid.
@@lavarball528 Beside you I haven't seen many people who didn't like her in Thor. Just saying. Let's agree to disagree
I’m not the biggest *natalie portman* fan …but I got to admit her performance and this movie and *v for vendetta* complete masterful, unique, masterpieces.
Luc Besson had some time to kill waiting for a film to start productions so he made this on the quick. Accidentally arguably his best film. Certainly one of my faves.
THE 5TH ELEMENT !! another banger
This one of the top ten best films of 1994, and one of the best action films of the decade in my opinion. Gary Oldman is so great as a bad guy, Natalie Portman was an excellent child actor, and Jean Reno is so underrated as the ultimate bad ass.
Imagine that you're living your life normally, and one day suddenly you hear "CUT", and it turns out you were played by Gary Oldman all along. That's how good of an actor he is
If you think about it, Matilda was the adult and Leon was very much like a child
A lot of people have said that, yes.
true, but his supposed past may have been that he's a pedo, hence his 'woman' problems he had to get away from in italy...AND that kind of relation is something a pedo would rationalize!🤨
Well, they do say girls mature faster than boys.
Gary Oldman the greatest actor in my lifetime in my opinion, and how about Natalie Portman, one of her best roles at such a young age, thanks guys
I always wished they'd bring back Natalie Portman for a sequel to this.
Great reaction.
She would have to be THE professional this time... 😁
@@dIggl3r Oh course. ❤
One of my fav movies ever since I was a little kid watching it with the fam. That “EVERYONE!” and that character role as a whole is something to remember
Nailed it
The actor who plays Benny is a firefighter named Keith Glascoe, who was sadly killed during the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks. He was inside the South Tower when it collapsed. He was 38 years old.
Bless him❤
Guys! I'm shocked there wasn't one word about Natalie Portman's incredibly acting for her first acting job.
Leon the Professional is an amazing and beautiful film. Every time I see it, the ending hits you there in the heart.
On the milk; as others have said, Leon has a very child like personality and education. My guess is, that he drinks the milk because he heard once that it is good for you (which could tie into something his mother maybe told him when he was little). For things like strong bones and stuff. So he started drinking milk to strengthen his bones, which would be pretty important considering all the stuff he puts his bones through in the movie (like hanging from the ceiling and climbing up walls). So just a health thing he does to stay fit and in strong shape.
IMDB says the pill that Norman keeps taking is Librium, a sedative and hypnotic used to treat anxiety, insomnia and withdrawal. What’s interesting is that he seems to bite open the capsules and let the drug run down his throat which causes him to have a little spasm that he seems to enjoy. To me this indicates a man on another level with drugs and booze. He’s using the Librium to maintain. That shit is pretty hard core.
IMDB is full of it. Librium is a downer. Whatever he’s taking is clearly an amphetamine. Don’t believe everything you read.
The milk serves two narrative purposes.
The first is to show Leon's very spartan solitary life, like a monk, simple is a simple choice of drink for a very simple life.
The second is metaphorical, it represents Leon's arrested development as a person, who is still very much a child in an adult's body. His own daily meals is a kid's meal, pasta and milk. It's an element clues us in to his emotional immaturity and his very simple life. That milk is also healthy food is also a reason too as Leon stays in veru good shape.
The cool thing about Leon is that it is a very cleverly made movie. Every detal matters and is very well though-out.
Gary oldman is an absolute genius actor the whole movie is fantastic in my opinion but oldmans performance was the best acting I've ever seen
Gary Oldman's "Beethoven" line? He PLAYED Beethoven in "Immortal Beloved" the same year Leon came out.
I would really like a sequel to this with Natalie Portman in the adult role
Luc Besson actually wrote a script for this, "Mathilda".
But they turned it into "Colombiana" with Zoe Saldana. She is basically the grown-up Mathilda.
@@Cau_No I think I’ve seen that but it’s been a while.
In my headcannon Leon and Viktor the Cleaner were brothers. Adult Mathilda is an FBI agent that specializes in tracking down assassins. She finds Nikita off-grid and recruits her to help her hunt down Leon and Viktor's *third* brother
Ive wanted that for so long.it would be so amazing.not a remake or anything but a direct sequel
SUCH a classic, great inclusion for a poll.
btw: I think Leon sleeps in the chair in a corner, because it puts his back to a wall. No one can sneak up on him.
Great reaction! There's also a longer cut that's above 2 hours that contains more scenes with Leon training Mathilda and more shocking moments from the girl herself. I'd say it's just a little darker than the 1h and 49m cut.
All I can say about this movie is "THE PERMORANCES, OMFG!!! All 3 main actors are absolutely phenomenal, Natalie Portman delivers possibly the best freshman performance by any actor ever! Gary Oldman gives a master class in just how far you can push a character and teeter on the edge of camp, cheese and going over the top, without falling! And finally, not enough is said about how fantastic Jean Reno is in an almost silent roll, perfectly expressing his emotions through looks, body language and physical reactions, and no one can ever beat his choking on milk whenever Matilda says something suggestive and inappropriate. There is also a fantastic Director's Cut that dives into Leon and Matilda's relationship more but nothing sketchy, at least not from Leon, along with far more training and cleaning going on.
Great movie! Always wanted a sequel with Matilda all grown up and a killer. Check out "The Accountant." Yes, he's an accountant.
The Accountant is a great movie.
The scene where her family is slaughtered always stuck with me. Something very real and haunting about how it's shot.
Natalie Portman is amazing in this movie.
*Fun Fact: In film school I did my thesis on what a protagonist drank and how it revealed character traits, inferred a back-story, and how it could be used as foreshadowing. I actually did a lecture using Léon as my prime source. I would be willing to write/comment a bit for ya later on about the milk.... once you have watched Besson's other gem, (La Femme) Nikita (1990) or even it's slightly diluted american remake, Point of No Return ('93). Imagine if Mathilda ended up growing up and hung out with the wrong crowd and the authorities had finally caught up to her. You don't even have to do a posting, just a watch on yer own time, lol.
*The above comment was neither fun nor factual, lol.
BUT PLEASE watch La Femme Nikita!
Milk is associated with childishness or innocence (because babies and children are the most associated with it). My belief is that the milk indicates that, despite being an assassin, Leon was innocent/good when it came to personal relationships. He is nearly as inexperienced as she when it comes to matters of love.
And Leon does love Matilda; in all cases he tries to do what is good for her rather than him, even when it harms him. And that may be a reason why he rejected her advances; it would have been bad for her had he not. He instead fills the father role, because that is what she needs. The fact that she was immediately flirtatious with a person in that proxy-father role also may suggest that her relationship with her real father may have involved that type of inappropriate behavior.
This movie is so beautifully done. Some people took issue with their relationship but I always just felt he was her protector. He could have taken advantage of her crush but never did. Gary Oldman is a legend for a reason!
just go look into the directors relationship history.
Can't tell in the States, but here in Europe, the movie came with a lot of cuts (specially when she ask him to join her in bed), so we never had issues with their relationship.....
There needs to be a sequel staring adult Natalie Portman as Matilda: the professional.
Yes. She is a female Thor too. Why not assassin. Lol
@@DoubleMonoLR I don't necessarily mean that she becomes an assassin when she grows up. Something just happens in her peaceful life that forces her to use what she learned from Leon.
I read there was a script for a sequel but it was used on another movie, i dont remember the name tho but Zoe Saldana was in the movie i think.
@@solomiguex Colombiana is what you're thinking of.
Actually... about the money... I believe Tony did a good job for Leon. Because when you are hitman, you can not just put your money into some bank. And bringing them with you is more like a burden for you. But Leon was using them... he had to buy guns, he had to pay for apartments (in New York!), food... etc.
And he was very aware to do not attract attention. He was good at it. But like always, the girl gets you down. :D
also when Leon died , Tony give the money to matilda and send to school .
he was a good friend
I love this movie. Watched it about 30 times.
if *Tony* was stealing his money ,
why did he give *Matilda* the money and send her to a school *?*
The green and yellow capsules Norman Stansfield takes is Librium, a sedative and hypnotic medication of the benzodiazepine class; it is used to treat anxiety, insomnia and withdrawal symptoms from alcohol and/or drug abuse.
I always wondered what he took.
ive taken librium and it does not do this lol. its a really weak benzo, weaker than valium
11:55 -- the critique of Beethoven is extra funny because Gary played Ludwig in Immortal Beloved.
Great reaction again guys! I love that you're reacting to films no one else has touched🤝🏽I hope one day you guys get around to Billy Bob Thornton's "Slingblade"!

1. UP
2. The Count of Monte Cristo
3. The Crow
4. Interview With A Vampire
Should do 'Legend' with Tom Cruise and Tim Curry. Great fantasy film but I recommend the theatrical version cuz it has the better music soundtrack. The music makes the movie. The Directors cut destroyed all that magic.
Keith Glascoe, who played Benny, was a firefighter who died on duty in one of the World Trade Center buildings on 9/11. He was a true hero.
One of the best movies ever made. The direction, the acting, the whole gig. This is a great film.
Kings of Leon notwithstanding, Leon is the Greatest Leon of All Time! Leon protected Maltilda they way her father shiould have, and the way the murderous father on Leon's first love should have protected her. Leon never creeped on Maltilda, "no women, no kids", he was a natural born dad.
The actor (Benny?) Gary Oldman screams at "EVERYONE" died 9-11 as a police officer or fireman who ran into one of the buildings to try and rescue people.
Hi guys the little girl is Natalie Portman from Star Wars and Thor movies. She plays Thor’s love interest 🔥
There's no metaphor for the milk. He's a simple guy who probably grew up with parents telling him to drink his milk if he wants to be a strong man. He's not clever or sophisticated enough to think of metaphors.
Mandala Effect Fact - I saw this movie years ago when it came out. It was originally called "The Professional." It's been changed.
I've seen it also titled simply Leon, I don't know why it has so many different titles lol.
@@OctoKrool I've seen that too...crazy
Natilie Portman deserved the Oscar for her amazing job
Great movie, Jean Reno is an incredible french actor. Here in France he’s very respected .in many countries also.
This was a fave of mine as a kid, so much so in third grade we had to write down what we wanted to be when we grow up in our journal and i wrote "cleaner". Bet sister foster had no clue what it actually meant : P
21:34 This reaction from you guys was absolutely hilarious. And relatable, I would react like that too.
Leon was and still is my crush
My mom was literally drooling watching this when Jean Reno was on screen. Loved the film but that was one hell of an awkward watch 😂😂
I love how he slowly brought the knife sneakily over his shoulder then a wrist flick to bring it to his neck but deliberately brought the knife in full view of his eyes after he got thebinstruction ' to make sure he understands' I've only seen this movie 5-8 times but never saw that detail before.
U know this movie was from the same creator of The Fifth Element and the lady playing Portman's mom was the diva. She also was in High Tension. Crazy foreign horror film I've ever seen!
Jean Reno and Gary Oldman 2 underrated actors. Great performances by both. Natalie too.🤗🥰🤗
"Best Leon to ever exist". Word!
The knock that Mathilda tells the special forces soldier is "-.. .. ." which is Morse Code for die.
Creative Synchronicity: This was both Natalie Portman's & Jean Reno',s First Major Hollywood Movie! Imagine the genius of Luc Besson to recognise that not only an unknown French Actor would work in Hollywood even when the studio was against it, but also an unknown girl no one had ever heard off! Studios do not like unknown faces leading films, scares them to death with millions on the line! Unless your name is Luc Besson! He even had to personally persuade Natalie Portman's parents that she would be professionally protected and looked after on set and off it guven the nature and themes of the movie! In the end Natalie herself wanted to do the movie with her parents blessing.👏👍
This is an experience.
Yes it is a film, it is also a movie, however it is so much more.
Truly an underrated and underappreciated masterpiece. Great reaction as always guys.
One of Gary Oldmans most underrated performances. Fantastic film that has stood the test of time, great pick!!
One of my most favorite movies! My heart always goes out to Leon as he seems a little slow, can't read or write. But there is one thing he does very, very well. Natalie Portman gives an amazing performance as well.
Amazing film. One of my absolute all-time favs. Natalie Portman should've won awards for this. Also, I always wished for a Matilda movie as Natalie Portman grew up. That would be bad-ass. A grown, killer Matilda? With her plant. :) PS: i wish you wouldve showed her performance when Tony was yelling at her. That absolutely breaks my heart. She's so good. Still one of my fav actors.
This movie was, I think - Natalie Portman's debut in a major role. She's been one of my favorite actors ever since.
Jean Reno, (Leon) played a Hitman/Cleaner named Victor in the Movie "La Femme Nikitta"! It's a French Film🎥 English dubbed and subtitles. It's about a Female Assassin/Hitman duo in which Jean Reno(Leon) plays a "Cleaner", named "Victor", who cleans up botched "Hits", so there's no trace of the crime!
This was the precursor to this Film "The Professional",in which Leon claims, when asked by Mathilda what he does for a living, that he is a "Cleaner"! The Character just has a different name and obviously different plot, but essentially the same dangerous Hitman/Cleaner Character! It's worth the watch if you liked "The Professional"!
Just food🍛 for thought! Peace!🕊
This movie will always be in my top 5.... I even named my first son Leon from this movie...
Loved the movie love you guys keep up the great work you do..... 👏
Watching this movie in the theater was mind-blowing. The film feels spectacular and epic. The filmmakers used a lot of spherical wide angle lenses that give the movie a look almost as if watching an Imax movie, the closest thing a movie can look as Imax without being filmed in Imax.
Good reaction! And you're correct; when a young girl is abused, particularly by her father, she tends to latch onto an older man who makes her feel safe. Unfortunately, she will often choose a man like the one who abused her, because it's familiar. People seek out what they know. Fortunately for Mathilda, her romantic/sexual feelings were not reciprocated by Leon. He just genuinely cared about her, and it's probably the first time in his adult life he's been close to anyone. These are two broken people who found solace and comfort in one another, and even with Mathilda's sexual acting out making it unsettling at times, it's a beautiful film.
bro, I used to live in Mathilda's apartment. The interior looks different, but it was at the Chelsea hotel on 23rd Street. Those hallways and stairs are iconic. They show the same spot in Sid and Nancy. I miss that place so very much.
The guy watching/keeping his money, probably took him in as a youth/teen. He’s (Leon) clearly mentally challenged and emotionally stunted. However, there’s something he does better than anyone else (cleaner). So the dynamic with Matilda is (as you both said) the first time he’s interacted with anyone and he’s out of his depth with a young girl. The whole attachment thing is also as you said, she’d never felt or experienced love or compassion/kindness. At her stage of development she became (unhealthily) attached. It was overwhelming for them both. He was just as confused as her. Him thinking of shooting her is because he knew she was a liability. Also, he was struggling that he was attaching to her. This is all just my opinion, but I’ve watched this movie for about a quarter century now lol. Natalie Portman gave an Oscar worthy performance much as Jodi Foster did in Taxi Driver. Oldman plays unhinged creepily well. Jean Reno became a cult hero after this came out.
If you enjoyed this, a low key great movie is Ninja Assassin. In the first 5 minutes you’re just glued to the screen
Luc Besson is by far my favourite Director! Leon, Fifth Element, Lucy, Joan of Arc.... everything he does is different, unexpected, a work of masterful movie art. Absolute creative genius; and not only have I never seen Luc Besson give an interview on TV, I don't even know what he looks like! That's the sign of a true maverick genius! It's about the work, not him!👏👍🙏😳
EVERYONE!!!!!!!!
My favorite lines in the movie, @26:42 "Bring me everyone. What do you mean everyone? EEVVVERRYYYONNNNEE!"
If you like this movie, there was another one with a different plot but similar circumstances done in the 70s called "Harold and Maude".
It is one of the loveliest movies ever made!
Fun Fact: In the Resident Evil games, Leon and his handgun "Matilda" is based off this movie.
Another great reaction from Chris and Curtis. I love this movie alot, the cast is top notch. It's got everything you want in an action movie.
I wanted to point out that I think you guys got Tony's character wrong. First of all, he was holding Leon's money because they are old friends and also because the nature of Leon's work and life means his money would make him suspicious if he took it to a real bank. Also, the reason Leon lived poorly and never used his money is because he had been doing it from a young age and his life became empty of anything else besides his work. He can't even sleep normally. He didn't use it because he never needed to.
Tony was his friend and only gave him up when already beaten and at gunpoint. You can rest assured that he would honor Leon's wishes to give it to Matilda when she is older.
LOL. Tony's a rat and far, far from honest. He used Leon and took advantage of him... even convinced him he was "holding" his money for him to keep it "safe". Hahahahaha - and you actually believe that?! SMH. He only ever gave Leon barely enough to live on, not the many thousands he was owed for "cleaning" for decades... and he's NEVER gonna give Matilda a penny more than what he gave her here, at the end, to get lost- a couple hundred bucks. He's a hack and a shyster - typical mobster. Don't give him an iota of credit for having a heart because he doesn't.
@@LittleBlueOwl318 Well I suppose you simply are ignorant of nuance. No shame in that. We'll agree to disagree.

The milk is symbolic of Leon's child like nature. Despite being a contract killer he is still naive. But its also a good source of low cost protein.
This may be the first time I see people doubting Tony. Nah, he's good.
Number on e movie of all time. Natalie portmans first film at 13/14. her parents had to give her pemission to hold the cigarettes but not to actually take a drag on it. Leon shows how good he is as he says that you start with the rifle and then get closer as u get better - until knife is ultimate kill weapon, see first scene. Gary Oldmans ultimate villan character. This has always been one of my favorite movies. I used to watch it with my dad when I was a teenager 😆
hard to believe that this movie is nearly THIRTY years old.
it feels like yesterday that I was watching it rented on VHS in the family living room. My family doesnt even own that house anymore, and I dont remember the last time I watch a VHS.
I've always loved this movie. Great film. So underrated. You can see how good Natalie Portman was going to be at such a young age.
39:58 ironically, the best decision the parents ever made.
I think this guy is the scariest I would be worried about....
Thank you for choosing this great French film (I am French) with great French and foreign actors including the promising Natalie Portman. See and see again.
Leon is based on a very similar character Jean Reno played in the French action film Nikita. I highly reccomend that too.
Last but not the least, the music and acting.
The music is by Luc Besson's regular composer Eric Serra, a french composer who i think is seriously underrated. He has made a lot of great film scores but doesnt seem to be that well known.
The acting by the 3 leads is amazing. Garry Oldman often gets most of the kudos thanks to his deliciously over the top performanxe as tge villain. But i have to give great praise to both Natalie Portman and Jean Reno as Mathilda and Leon. Portman does a fantastically mature assured performance at age 11, one of the greatest child performances ever. Reno plays Leon with both stoicism and sensitivity making you like him almost immediatly despite his day job. Amazing acting, just amazing.
The non US cut is so much better. Even if I did love this cut also
I always feel like she finally had a loving father, and since she never had it before, she mistook it for what it wasn't.
Gary Oldman is da man!! Love this movie, thanks for reacting to it!!
Another movie, another BRILLIANT Gary Oldman performance.
