The reason Vincent spent so much time on the toilet is probably because he is a heroin user, and opiates cause constipation. Tarantino is the master of mundane conversations that draw you into the characters’ world. 👍😎

It makes complete sense that ya would remember seeing “Pulp Fiction” over whatever the other one was.
Ahhhhh, Tynia. To continue your dive down the Tarantino rabbit hole ------- Your next movie needs to be "Reservoir Dogs", Then "Kill Bill", "Django", even "Jackie Brown" and " The Hateful Eight" ------ The dialogue that you loved so much in "Pulp Fiction" is the signature aspect of all of Tarantino films.
Tarantino's dialogue is actually never random. It's all for the purpose of character building, and oftentimes the conversations have something to do with the furtherance of the plot. For instance, the foot massage conversation establishes that even though these 2 gentleman are cold blooded killers, they still have a code of ethics and respect, and it sets up a long standing inside joke that Tarantino has a foot fetish.
My favorite dialogue-based leadup in this movie is Vincent's dealer's throwaway line "I'm out of balloons, does a baggie work?" Apparently heroin is sold in balloons and cocaine in baggies, so when Mia finds a baggie of white powder she assumes it's her preferred substance and goes ahead, which obviously turns out to be a very bad idea.
Yeah I heard that one of the main purposes of character development is to establish the character’s values, for purposes such as for example, so their later decisions make sense to the audience. So the drug dealer using the epithet serves no direct purpose, but it does establish the character’s values as callous and selfish, so that when he later personally encounters an actual human in direct need, we already have some prior understanding of him as harsh when we now see him unwilling to help in person. These can also be used as foreshadowing. So when we are shown in private that the guy is cold blooded, the simple fact that the movie took the time to show us this, likely means the same character trait will later become important to the script in a bigger way. That’s a big part of what makes the OD scene so dramatic - constantly wondering whether or not the gal will lose her life simply because BOTH of the two guys who are in a position to help, LEGIT might BOTH decide NOT to. By first establishing the fact that the dealer is a reptile, the writer removes any assurance of the gal’s survival and keeps the audience guessing the whole time.
Yoooo you should watch either Fargo or No Country For Old Men by the Coen Brothers! You’ll like their style, humor, and violence! Thanks for this reaction fam!

Hey, helpful hint for your production: When using auto-focus sometimes the camera will decide what to focus on if it is nearby in the frame of the shot. It looks like your camera decided to focus on the computer behind you. If you move the computer out of the shot the auto-focus should pick you to keep in focus in the future. Your shot is a little bit blurry.
Also remember, simpler cameras might only be able to focus on what’s in the exact center of the frame. It looks like that spot could be on the wall behind you in your frame, in case that makes a diff. 😃👍
@@WhatsTeeWatchin I personally turn the auto focus off for reactions, I've found that manually setting the focus works best for me (I have a lot of stuff in my background that the auto-focus otherwise picks up). Keep up the good work!

Good, liked your reaction, Pulp fiction is truly a Quentin Tarantino classic. Saw it at the Theater when it first came out with some friends. We were all awh struck.
Mia's pilot show of Fox Force Five later on became Tarantino's movies: Kill Bill 1 and 2. Both are also starring Uma Thurman, and just like she said in this movie, her character's specialty was knife, in Kill Bill, her character's specialty was katana sword.
I’ve done it in the past to save money on cigarettes. The tobacco quality and papers are important. There is one thing u should not forget about this movie... and it is the plot of that show's pilot, Mia Wallece stared in. Remember? She told Vincent Vega that the show had been about five deadly chicks. And she was the one, who's been a pro with blades. So, if you are continuing your journey through Tarantino's movieverse, just remember that plot. That story Uma Thurman told to John Travolta in that funky restaurant 😉
Hey Tynia, you labeled Tarantino's dialogue as random. ------- What you must understand is that it's a device to tell you of the characters attitude and mindset regarding various issues in the world and in society without the use of a narrator. ------ From the discussion at the start we dive into VINCENT's travels, his disdain forr TV. his view on relationships and loyalty. ------- So when we go inside for the case, Vincent doesn't need to talk. -------- Jules can take over with his menacing intimidation through kindness.-------- Tarantino is such a genius, that is without question.
@@WhatsTeeWatchin they won't eat you up. You can do your own vanilla coke by buying flavored syrup like torani brand etc and adding it yourself. When you get quality syrups flavored sodas are the bomb
Great reaction! The randomness of the topics of the dialogue is what takes his movies to the next level. That is what makes them seem real. That is what makes us identify with the characters. You can watch it two ways: It's either a waste of your time because you didn't pay to sit around watching people talking about random shit for a fifth of a movie. Or you can view it as something that serves a purpose beyond the plotline itself. The random dialogue about mayo on fries in France is important. It is important because it's a relatable everyday type of dialogue that you have in real life, that serves to give you an impression of who these people are. They are gangsters but gangsters also have a regular morning on the way to work, before shit goes crazy. You identify. The lack of substance makes you focus on the personalities and getting a sense of them, rather than the substance of the conversation. Plus he does it in a humorous way too. Personally, I am so tired of movies where every single word of every single dialogue between every single character is super important and either defining for the plot, or a hint to a later plot twist that makes you go "OH so that's why she said that thing!" That stuff is so unrelatable to me, because that's not how people go about their day. And every moment of every day of your own life is not constantly super intense and important. Not even during a very stressful and dramatic phase of your life. Even then you still sit down at night and fall asleep watching TV halfway through a Big Kahuna burger 🙂 Simply put: Tarantino is making these people real to us, rather than important to the movie. And that engages us more than a constant stream of intensity of crucial yapping 🙂
Awesome show, Tynia. The Drop is another very good movie that a lot of folks don't know about. It has Tom Hardy in it and a dog named Rocco. You'll like it. Keep up the terrific work, ma'am 👌 👏 👍 😀

There is a fan theory that all Quentin Tarantino movies take place in the same fictional universe. John Travolta’s character Vincent is actually the brother of one of the characters in the movie Reservoir Dogs. In all of the movies there is the fictional Red Apple cigarettes. Also the Kill Bill series is actually a blockbuster movie that is playing at the theaters in this fictional universe.
The should watch Reservoir Dogs it was the movie before this one. And theu are connected, Vincent Vega's brother is in it and we used to believe the briefcase in this movie is the one from Reservoir Dogs.
Freaked out some people in the audience when I saw this in the theater. We had a couple of people walk out in the first 20 minutes because they were so unnerved.
In the suitcase is Marcelas soul, which he sold to the devil. Number of the case lock is 666, Marcelas has a bandage on his neck(that is believed how the soul is collected, ancient Egyptians believed that too). Jouls is leaving because he knows whats in the case, and he doesn't want to take that road, and thus he end up alive.
Tarantino seems to think that 'Inglorious Bastards' is his masterpiece, but to me it's 'Pulp Fiction'. So many people have copied or straight stolen from Tarantino's style that it is hard to explain just how out of this world this movie was in 1994. Nobody had ever seen anything like it. It was one of those things where your friend would be raving about how good it was, but then you'd ask them what it was about... And they couldn't answer. They give some mumbling explanation that always ended in 'You just have to watch it', and they were right. Tarantino's movies are so unique, that it's hard to even explain why they are so good.
I agree. Just like Memento is my favorite Christopher Nolan movie and started a lot of going backwards narratives, Pulp Fiction is even better than Reservoir Dogs and really changed cinema. But he was also with Roger Avery for Pulp Fiction and Avery contributed a lot to that movie and script.
Great reaction, one constructive comment (I haven't watched your other stuff so I apologize if this was just a one off) if you could make sure the camera is focused on you instead of the background during the reaction (it was fine in your after show discussion) that'd be helpful.
Thanks so much for the tip! I was soooo angry lol
@@WhatsTeeWatchin All part of the learning curve. Otherwise, you're doing a great job!
@@WhatsTeeWatchin Don’t worry too much - blurry is kindof coming into style these days anyway 😉
I really enjoyed your reaction thank you!❤ Long live the GIMP🤘🏼
Here where I was born and raised we like to alternate the sauces when eating fries, like, we eat some with ketchup, others with mayonnaise, others with mustard, etc
First reactor to realize that Vincent was alone cause Jules quit from the divine intervention. Dope.
Good, liked your reaction, Pulp fiction is truly a Quentin Tarantino classic. Saw it at the Theater when it first came out with some friends.
We were all awh struck.
11:43 this idea for a tv show became the Kill Bill series
New Sub. Was a pleasure watching this with you.
Mia's pilot show of Fox Force Five later on became Tarantino's movies: Kill Bill 1 and 2. Both are also starring Uma Thurman, and just like she said in this movie, her character's specialty was knife, in Kill Bill, her character's specialty was katana sword.
Love that Vincent rolls his own cigarettes. Some guys actually started rolling there own cigarettes after this movie.
I’ve done it in the past to save money on cigarettes. The tobacco quality and papers are important. Raw papers are good and the ones that come with tips are great, as they keep bits of tobacco from getting in your mouth. It’s also quite harsh, and something to do occasionally but for me I always go back to filtered packs
Great job! I’m a fan!
Hey Tynia, You were asking about the contents of the case, that gold light the audience wasn't allowed to see.------- Many people speculate that Marcellus Wallace made a deal with the devil, possibly to be the crime overlord of all L.A. in exchange he would give up his soul. ------- Remember the bandage on the back of Wallace's head as he talked to Bruce Willis.------- Something must have gone wrong and thus he was getting his soul back from the boys in the room at the beginning.
Just a theory.
@@chrischar9428 of course. But such a juicy theory. Which is why folks debate it to this day.
i enjoyed your reaction to this. thanks for posting. reaction videos are the closest we can get to watching a film for the first time again. subbed.
QT adds non plot driven dialogue to make the movie feel more natural.
24:09 who did you was in Silence of the Lambs?
Awesome thank you! I thought the guy in the blue shirt resembled buffalo bill lol ( i didn’t have my contacts in 😂)
@@WhatsTeeWatchin i thought thats who you meant. They do resemble each other to an extent. theyre not too dissimilar. please watch Terminator 2!! you deserve it... its a rare treat!
@@gallo162 we definitely will be doing T2 :)
Nowadays, they have a Narcan nasal spray, so if someone OD’s you can just give a couple sprays in the person’s nostril & they’ll come out of it, provided they aren’t too far gone.
Edit: We used to keep a bottle when I worked nights at a 24 hr cafe, just in case someone OD’ed in the bathroom.
It has nothing to do with Kill Bill, lol that's a misconception. As well as the sword in the pawn shop being Bill's.
Top tier!!! The word I was looking for was “mundane” not random lol everyone about to eat me up in the comments 😂😂🤦🏾♀️
@@WhatsTeeWatchin they won't eat you up. Since most reactors think the way you do until someone explains it. ------- They are confused as to why characters are rambling on about some meaningless topic. ------- They say, 'Let's get on with the movie.' -------- Later actions by characters make sense based on those conversations.
10:55 1994....I was in high school 🙂 graduated 96 🙂
Even then you still sit down at night and fall asleep watching TV halfway through a Big Kahuna burger 🙂
Simply put: Tarantino is making these people real to us, rather than important to the movie. And that engages us more than a constant stream of intensity of crucial yapping 🙂
Some of the best dialogue in the history of movies comes from this guy. 👌🏼
The guy by the door is the voice actor who plays samurai jack.
Love your reactions
Mia thought that Vincent´s heroine was cocaine, that´s why she snorted it, instead of using a needle. And that provoked her that overdose.
(Shrug) well, bring out the gimp
@randywhite3947 gimp's sleeping
Theory about the briefcase is it's one of the three Simarils. AKA the Jewels of Fëanor from the First age.
Awesome show, Tynia. The Drop is another very good movie that a lot of folks don't know about. It has Tom Hardy in it and a dog named Rocco. You'll like it. Keep up the terrific work, ma'am 👌 👏 👍 😀
Right on
We sang Soul Glow at the exact same time lol
Kindred spirits!!
Had to sub over this one. Pulp Fiction has been making the rounds. I hope you will react to some other favorites of mine. Loved your reaction.
Re: vanilla Coke, there's an old Bob's Big Boy from 1949 in Burbank California that still mixes their own vanilla Cokes; also cherry and chocolate Cokes. Worth a stop if you're in SoCal.
I wish they would have made a TV drama about Jules wandering around helping people. He has to dodge his past, and the law.
You should watch Django Unchained by QT next if you haven’t already! It’s my personal favorite
If you look back you can see them bullet holes in the wall right before that guy comes out shooting
Astute observations for a first time viewer as to why Vincent was alone and why they had different clothes on :)
“Aw man I shot Marvin in the face 😮”
The best part about the dance competition? They didn’t even win. You can hear in the news that the dance trophy was stolen.
Yes, that's right here in Europe we say Royal with cheese. I have no idea what pound is. Greetings from Italy
Mia's failed pilot, 'Fox Force Five', is the predecessor for the Kill Bill movies...is that a fun fact??
Not all brands of mayonaise goes with fries in Europe, my personal favorites are Miracle whip or Hellman's
And the Quater Pounder is called the same in many EU countries but France I think 😄
Yes that's Kathy Griffith at a young age . Samuel Jackson was nominated for an Oscar for this movie
ERIC STOLTZ... the dealer... Christopher Walkin... The POW friend...
The Dialogue IS the movie. It's also so real, which is what makes this movie amazing. Because most movies dialogue is completely unrealistic.
That is Christopher Walken talking about the watch. He basically, has no, punctuation so.He died, hegimmedawatch. you know, Tynia he's a very good, actor.
Watched a buttload of reactions to this movie. Finally someone recognized Kathy Griffin, kudos!
You might like to react to something like From Dusk Til Dawn, which Tarantino’s also in or maybe District 9, or maybe Hardcore Henry. I like all three of those.
QT not only starred in that film, but also wrote the screenplay for it.
great reaction
A more recent John Travolta movie "From Paris with Love" (2010) he stops in the middle of the movie for a Royal with Cheese...
And then when Samuel Jackson fakes his death in winter soldier his gravestone has that "Bible verse"
Robert Rodriguez directed 'Planet Terror.' Him and Quentin Tarantino are really good friends. Highly Recommend Reacting to Robert Rodriguez 's work:
Desperado
From Dusk Till Dawn
The Faculty
Sin City
22:40 that was the correct response...
If we have a pouch then it is because we are whats called "functioning users".
Mayo on fries (pommes frites) is the one and only way!
Good editing
3:56 what about frosty on fries?
I don't like fries with regular real mayo, but i love it with Miracle Whip salad dressing ("fake mayo").
Also, check out True Romance please (written by Quentin Tarantino)
That's my favorite QT film. The scene with Christopher Walkin and Dennis Hopper is a tension - building masterpiece.
The should watch Reservoir Dogs it was the movie before this one. And theu are connected, Vincent Vega's brother is in it and we used to believe the briefcase in this movie is the one from Reservoir Dogs.
Mayonnaise on fries is lush. Mayonnaise mixed with ketchup is even better.
Freaked out some people in the audience when I saw this in the theater. We had a couple of people walk out in the first 20 minutes because they were so unnerved.
Great reaction.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Is another great Tarantino movie.
John Trovolta in "Hairspray" is my favorite ❤️
In the suitcase is Marcelas soul, which he sold to the devil. Number of the case lock is 666, Marcelas has a bandage on his neck(that is believed how the soul is collected, ancient Egyptians believed that too). Jouls is leaving because he knows whats in the case, and he doesn't want to take that road, and thus he end up alive.
NO IT IS NOT
Great reaction. I think you’d like Jackie brown a lot too.
You look too good to be blurry the entire time :)
Haha ! Thanks , he’s my dumbass got up and forgot to refocus it and didn’t see it til it was over 🤦🏾♀️😂
Your disclaimer about laughing because it’s uncomfortable made me laugh. We know sister.
@WhatsTeeWatchin Please consider watching Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill. Pulp Fiction is my third favorite Tarantino film because Kill Bill and Reservoir Dogs are more artistic and really the hight of his abilities. Also just such captivating scenes from beginning to end. All in all this was a beautifully done reaction and very much am subbing for more.
