    Great to see you again Danny. I just finished doing my first alternator change on my 2003 SAAB 9-5 2.3L wagon. OMG. This was a test for both me and my tools. I have the highest respect for you and other SAAB mechanics who perform alternator changes. Question, what torque value do you use on the four alternator bracket bolts and the two alternator mounting bolts? I torqued the bolts to 20 foot/pounds to be safe since there were no torque specifications available in the SAAB Workshop Information System (WIS). By the way Danny, while removing the old alternator, three of the four bolts holding the alternator together fell out in my hand. The two halves of the alternator were physically loose. I suspect this is why the alternator failed. Have a great weekend Danny. Cheers.

      Haha the 9-5 alt is a fun one to do haha. Glad you were able to do it. Idk the torque spec I can look it up at a later date for you thru alldata otherwise I tighten them by hand to what feels good😅… it’s possible loose bolts cause some extra strain on the alt but they go bad just normally ya know. Thank you you too

    Hi just came across this video I have a 2000 Saab 9-5 which is a manual transmission I’m having trouble getting it in reverse I had change the linkage and that wasn’t the problem now I’m thinking of changing the clutch and slave cylinder do you think that would fix the problem with that transmission

    • @Retiq
      @Retiq  6 місяців тому +1

      @@jamrockrc172 the adjustment of the shifter could be off. A worn linkage can cause it not to go in gear. I have a video replacing the linkage and showing the adjustment it’s pretty much the same as a 9-5. I would try that. If all other gears seem to work but not revere i doubt the clutch would be bad it’s prob not aligned right. Could the trans be bad? The shifter assembly could be bad? Is it oem? Or short shifter kit?

      @@Retiq it’s a oem shifter linkage

      It drives perfect only problem is putting it in reverse

      The shifter linkage was so expensive. I know a Saab guy who has a Saab account for Parts and he purchased it with his discount for me.

      @@jamrockrc172 yeaah some Saabs parts are big $. I would still check shift linkage alignment. Otherwise the shifter assembly could have a problem with the reverse lock out

    I see you lost your wolfman look. 😂😅
    Are you back in the Saab shop you were at a few years ago?
    I hope you start making some more videos regularly.
    Take care and hope to see you again soon.😊

    People must have beat on that poor thing. Mine has 180k with the original clutch, and the engine has been smooth as silk since I bought it. Mine is an 04 Arc Vert. Sounds to me like the owner is not a very experienced driver.

      Maybe he has lot of city driving but clutch’s don’t last forever haha. I live in country and my moms red 9-3 has over 100k on it and it’s original I learned to drive stick on it and drove it to college
