This new President of BYU has a great spirit about him. He really wants what's best for the young people in his charge.❤

How on earth does making people shave their beards point them to the temple, dedicated to a God who had one?

I love his vision. I am an alumi of BYU. Help the students adhere to an honor code, and honestly, I never understood anyone who had trouble with it wanting to go to BYU. It's not a surprise nor will it be with the new president. Very good news!

Walking on temple grounds can be an awesome spiritual experience. I used to hang out around temple square often when I lived in Salt lake

doing a find and replace exchanging “temple” with “giving us your money” makes everything these maniacs say make so much more sense

Then you do not know about the temple or tithing because what you said is false.

@@saintinlower48You really are delusional. I can visit our beautiful Cathedral whenever I wish. It brings so much peace and love as I sit and meditate.
Cathedrals are the Christian equivalent of Mormon Temples. We don't need to show a "recommend", we don't even have to give our names, and we don't pay any money. In fact, nobody approaches us. We know that the doors are open to ALL.
I went to see an LDS Temple. I didn't know about tithing or recommend cards then. I was denied access.
      What is the LDS hiding???

@@saintinlower48 Paying tithing is an absolute must for a Temple recommend. Of course they want to point the students in that direction. With the church hemorrhaging with members leaving, they’ve gotta keep the money coming in from somewhere.

$100B that has been sheltered from tax and subsidized by the rest of us is the source of all the “power”. Not your magic panties. I have zero issue with people believe they’ll get their own plant. Just don’t make the rest of us poorer because we pay for it without our consent.

There are no magic panties. Is that what you refer to other religions with their religious clothing? And have you studied, really studied about the law of the tithe? Or listened to church leaders about what the funds are used for, where they go, what countries contribute the least but receive the most? Maybe learning more will help the way you look at this.

It’s a collection of money paid by people who are already being taxed. In what world is the church “subsidized” by nonmembers? You really think the government would handle it better? Absolutely not.
Our church is debt free and able to donate all kinds of resources to people in need based on a voluntary donation system and it’s awesome.
We pay tithes so that anyone can go to their bishop or area leader and say “I really need help buying a wheelchair/hay for my farm/food for my family/etc” and the church has a huge stockpile available to deliver just that.

Honor Code "violations" that apply to hairstyles being dependent on the student's racial heritage are really stupid.
Males from Pacific Islands region not being permitted to grow their hair the same way as students from Northern Europe makes HC compliance officials appear incredibly xenophobic and racist.

A religious school doesn't stand for much if it will change to apease students instead of God.

@saintinlower48 I'm about 100% sure God doesn't care about someone having a certain hairstyle or if they wear shorts. The honour code is implemented to create obedience, the only thing the church cares for as it keeps young people in line so they continue to pay tithing to their multi billion dollar industry .
