We were able to tour the temple last October. To say it was a marvelous experience would be an understatement. We were the last group of the day, seven in number including our lovely guide, so we had extra time to tarry. At the closing when we sang “The Spirit of God,” my heart was so full of joy I felt as if I had been part of the dedication. ❤

According to an entry on the Religious Studies Center website at BYU, the book, “Kirtland, Ohio: A Guide to Family History and Historical Sources,” by Kip Sperry cites a variety of sources to build a consensus as to the specific meanings of the initials or acronyms on the pulpits, as follows:
WEST TIER, MELCHIZEDEK PRIESTHOOD PULPITS (top row to bottom row):
    - M.P.C. Melchizedek Presiding Council (First Presidency of the Church or Stake)
    - P.M.H. Presiding Melchizedek High Priesthood (Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, or Stake High Council)
    - M.H.P. Melchizedek High Priesthood (High Priests Quorum)
    - P.E.M. Presiding (Presidency) Elders Melchizedek (representing Elders Quorum)
EAST TIER, AARONIC PRIESTHOOD PULPITS (top row to bottom row):
    - B.P.A. Bishop Presiding over Aaronic Priesthood
    - P.A.P. Presiding (Presidency) Aaronic Priests
    - P.T.A. Presiding (Presidency) Teachers, Aaronic
    - P.D.A. Presiding (Presidency) Deacons, Aaronic

I toured the temple many years ago as a missionary in Ohio. It will be so exciting to see how the restoration continues. We also owe such huge appreciation to the Community of Christ for maintaining the building so wonderfully. (Our group of missionaries had a fantastic spiritual experience with our guide as she described the area where the Savior appeared: she whispered to us that she was supposed to say that Joseph and Oliver had just had ‘spiritual experiences’ there, but she knew that the Savior had been there!)

Fantastic video! I loved the tour, and seeing some of the spots you don't hear as much about was very cool. When I go in person I'll make sure I'm prepared for the stairs! That building is so unique and significant in our history, it is remarkable that it has endured over time and is in the condition it is. Many, many thanks to our friends at the Community of Christ for taking such phenomenal care of the temple for so long and preserving it prior to the change of ownership.
