    Hey hey notification squad! Was unable to monitor video during release yesterday, forced to reupload. YT in typical fashion decided to kill it off, simple thumb and title change do nothing unfortunately. Well, a bit of a facelift with new thumb and title! “Well, I was looking at the designs for the SLS and it occurred to me that if you moved the fuel tanks so that they overlapped, you could store more fuel in the same space. So I just did that repeatedly until the rocket could fit enough fuel to fly to Proxima Centauri and back in 10 years. Honestly, it’s really simple, I’m not sure why nobody thought of it before”

  • @cy-one

    While technically very impressive, using clipping to that extend is very exploity. To me, it's the "challenging bigger brother" of just turning on unlimited fuel in the cheatmenu.
    But as I said, and I meant it, technically it's very impressive.

    • @Yakez42
      @Yakez42  Рік тому

      Clipping in itself achieve nothing, game is voxel based calculating drag, heat and mass for every clipped part. Power of clipping is really important when you combine it with another mentioned gameplay mechanic. Like faring occlusion and engine plates. Clipping allow to reduce mass of these techniques and allow to solve fuel balancing issues Clipping is not as powerful as it looks, faring and engine plates are just broken...
      Although some things are just ridiculous when you think about them. Like you can make any fuel tank dragless when you apply matching nosecones on the both sides. This basically makes every fuel tank of smaller size just useless if you play with no clipping. Lets hope KSP2 would have more advanced calculations in this department. ;-)

      @@Yakez42 While I'm not holding my breath for that particular hope, I'm definitely looking forward to KSP2. It's been a year or two since I played KSP, and I'd love to get back into sending stuff to space with moar boosters :D
      I also always loved the colonization aspect some mods added, like actually building spacecraft on mun or minmus and sending fuel from other sites there instead from Kerbin.
      And of course the life support for those sites as well :D
      Hope we get something like that in KSP2, even if more "easier and grounded" in the game itself until mods expand on it.

    • @Yakez42
      @Yakez42  Рік тому

      I generally don't. That's why I clip fuel tanks, have my size limits I guess. But when it comes to shuttle stacks with tall launch systems, I just make subassembly for the launch system and clip it into the ground when I work on the shuttle.
