Koch could probably do what these other 2 guts do, but I doubt they could do what he can. Koch is always musical, he plays with lyricism and phrasing--not just shredding for its own sake. The last guy was just awful... How you can coax such bad sounds out of 10 grand worth of gear is beyond me.
My first time hearing Greg Koch here. Wow. How inventive. I'm probably mistaken in his true influences, but parts of his playing reminiscences of Jan Akkerman, Roy Buchanan, etc. Great post. Can't wait to hear more of this player.
You're hearing the Buchanan influence correctly. I've seen videos where he talks about taking Roy's tone swells. Greg's playing is an amalgamation of a HUGE amount of players. You can't watch just this little bit and here even close to what he can do.
Man this was the first time I seen him too. I've went down the rabbit hole the last 2 years or so. He's an incredible musician. I've picked up so much just off of watching him play. The guy is critically underrated and a real Giant in modern guitar day.

Tom Quayle is a true guitarist's guitarist, and a gentleman at that. All of the best review and demo videos I've seen were done by either Tom or Rick Graham. They're both powerhouses in their own right.
1:272:24 I swear, I love Tom's playing at the beginning (2:42 Zakk Quayle LOL! and 3:02 is sick!), and Tom's truly a "human metronome" (LOL!), but I find Greg's 4:47 onwards to be just as technically awe inspiring and - actually - more entertaining. I found myself laughing at some of the sounds he was making with that guitar (like what the heck is 4:49 "ting" bend sound!!? LOL!). Greg's such a great musical humorist!

I usually never care about guitars outside the standard classic electrics we all know and love. But these are really cool and I want the Tele one. Great playing here. Koch always so interesting and fresh. But all of them were really great.
Greg thinks music and it shows here... always a feel player first, that’s why he shines here above the rest.
I feel like the space T started out as high tosin saying “yo, what if larada... but tele” and ended up so bloody amazing I can’t even begin to describe the idea
All great players use a pick and pluck combo style it seems. I really like the look of that guitar! Sounds great too!
YIKESS! NO!!!!!! Look up John Williams, Tommy Emmanuel, Paco De Lucia, Angel Romero, Lenny Breau. Of those listed, only Tommy plays with the "hybrid" technique - and only sometimes. He's also a master of Travis-style fingerpicking, standard flatpicking, neo-classical three-finger playing. NO! NO! NO! This is one style only - and is mostly NOT representative of most of the best players living or deceased.

(regardless of pick type, fingernails, banjo picks) Checkout Wes Montgomery, Derek Trucks, Eric Gales, Jerry Reed, Chet ( I get that's Travis but it's still hybrid no?) any country player with the chick'n pickin licks, jazz players, literally everyone uses this technique. What am I missing?
