Though it looks nice, it is a safety hazard. You need to change the glass.
According to the International Residential Code, all glass and panels must be tempered in these types of doors: swinging, sliding, operable, fixed, and bifold, regardless of panel size.
The glass cut at Lowe’s is not tempered. To do the project properly and safely, order tempered glass in the appropriate customs sizes.
Hi Stefani,
You sure made those French doors pop with the next level of excitement.
Amazing job!!
OMG, they are beautiful doors!!! It adds so much class and light to the room. Loved watching you build them in your shop!!! Beautiful job, Stefani. I'm looking forward to the projects you mentioned. Thanks for sharing. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you so much!! 💓🙂
This has really inspired me! I have a very dark hallway, so am thinking of cutting high level ‘lights’ in all me doors.
Beautiful transformation however I must say two things.
In my area in California, tempered glass is required in any door or window within 24 inches of a door. I know because my house wasn't to code when I purchased it.
And secondly you have secured that glass so strongly with silicone moulding and glue that replacing a broken pane may be a real pain...
I'm making these comments for people's safety not to get down on your work.
As a homeowner you have the right to do anything in your own home.
Just to let you know, I have two windows adjacent to a slider that were professionally installed years ago that aren't tempered glass....
Love the doors!👏🏽👏🏽… So hyped for the new series, can’t wait to see how the coffered ceiling is made.
Hello Stefani, the easy way is not always the better one, in this case your work was really worth it! The doors look fantastic. And because they are dark brown and not black, they also have a much warmer appearance than black doors could. The door knobs are stunning. Great job. Greetings from cologne Andy
Major change in appearance! Very Nice. Another excellent project, Stefani 👍
Great project, Stefani. I love the look this special creativity adds. Thanks for the video.
It looks beautiful but the glass in doors must be tempered safety glass.
Why did you waste all that time stripping the part of the door u were going to cut out anyway???
Exactly what I thought too 😅
The door knobs are amazing. Well done as usual.
The light pours into the home office from the dining room and makes the space quite inviting! Blessings!
You explain things really well. A lot of UA-camrs that show DIY how to videos take for granted that I already know things that I don’t know. Watching this I think I could do this right now! Love how it turned out
Wow awesome transformation love it brilliant job
That stain is so dark, you may as well have painted them black and saved yourself even more time!
Love it!!! You're so talented!! When are you going to be on HGTV?
I have been thinking about doing this to my front door for a long time now and I love the way you did this! Great job!!
I love this. I want to do this with an exterior door because my living room is so dark. I have a metal door and it is rusting here and there. I am looking to buy a solid wood exterior door and make it a french door. I am so glad you uploaded this video. I love the stain you used. It looks so beautiful in your home and is a lovely contrast. I can see beautiful pillows with a dark brown and white design that would tie the door in to the kitchen. Just beautiful.
I love the way they dressed up the rooms! The knobs are perfect. Looks expensive!
Thank you!!
Beautiful, well done ❤
Doors look great. I love the hardware!
You have inspired me to do this!! Thank you for the tutorial!
Seriously, that looks very nice. Actually gives me an idea for a spare room that we have.
Came out amazing! Great job.
The doors look very nice. I like the look of French glass doors for an office. I love the door handle you found, unusual and pretty.
Love the transformation, just wondering why you bothered stripping the panels that you cut out? (Just heard you say you were going to leave some in)
I changed my mind last minute and took all the panels out haha 🙃
Thanks for the tutorial. I learned a lot
😍😍😍🙌👌🤌👍👏🤜 Amazing job! Excited for you to continue to take over DIY UA-cam!!!
I think my doors are hollow. Am I SOL with trying this project?
@josephcelmer5756 Probably not. Mine are hollow as well. Thinking a wider width trim is needed to sandwich the glass or plexi. I also saw a block of wood is needed in the hollow bottom of the cutout to keep the insert from falling. If that makes sense.
Sooo inspired! I’ve always wondered if this was a possibility! Thank you!!
Hello I enjoyed watching this video. My question is.......how did you learn how to do this? I mean I feel so behind in life because I don't know how to do these DIY projects. 😂 I have to learn some DIY's
I was a carpenter in the Army for a while and had lots of practice!! Start with easy DIYs and work your way up 😊
@HomeWithStefani ooooh that explains it. Ok 👍
I love this!! My french doors have the smaller rectangle glass already in them, now I'm wondering if I change it out to create a similar look to your doors...
What beautiful doors, you do an excellent job, I congratulate you and I greatly admire greetings and blessings for you.
Incredible job!!! I've got some doors that need some attention, indoor and exterior, and now I've got some ideas coming around. Excellent timing! 🎉
You did a great job!
When was this movie filmed? In Sweden we have 2 feet of snow right now =)
February in Florida!
Wow! So much better. Love the new handles too. Bet it’s so much brighter!
Looks so good. Great project, thanks for sharing!
Thank you for watching!
Absolutely beautiful!
Wow just wow 🤩
Wowsers, (first rime viewer ). lovely job. I was actually thinking 'why is she wasting time and energy with all that sanding and stripping' lol.. great work. Now im looking wround my house and thinking 🤔🤔🤔 which door could I do that to. 😅
Great creative mind & job! Beautiful.
Great idea !!!!! 👍
Beautiful ❤️
Your doors look amazing!! 🥰🥰 I’ve been wanting to do this to my pantry door. Any suggestions on doing the same project on the same looking door but it’s hollow. 😩😩
Great work!
Great Job!!
Next level! ❤
very nice.
Wow😱 so beautiful ! Great job. I love French doors. I them in bedroom
I'm pretty sure I've commented this before, but it's amazing how your poly doesn't dry instantaneously. I live in Arizona and have to apply poly outside (no workshop). The annual average humidity is less than 38% and it seems to dry before it even hits the surface. 😅
That is crazy!!
Beautiful
Good job!
Wow 🤩🧡
Looks amazing. The door hardware is stunning.
you should not be gluing the glass. Wood movement can stress it and cause it to crack especially since it's so thin and brittle already. There are little padding balls that will hold it in place and allow it to move
Steph you really did a great job on this I love it
That door hardware looks amazing, and awesome choice of color
Thank you!!
🫶💕👏👏
Great job Stefani. My hat’s off to you!

❤️
😍
Great job !
Great job!!!
next time, cut the panels out first, then use the paint stripper
Lesson learned haha 🙃
looks so beautiful
Thank you!
Not tempered glass? Extremely dangerous.
Something wrong with people who only look for something to pick on. Booooo
I have colonial home dated 1900 and we have 5 bedroom doors with solid glass panels. Its not thin glass, VERY thick and has a kind of blue hue to the glass. Not sure when it was made but all hardware is brass and door knobs glass too. I would have added a clear silicone strip/edge of glass. This would cushion glass against wood expansion and contraction.
@@Marie.b well it's better than picking shards of broken glass out of your children. Learn from the tip instead of you yourself criticizing.
