I liked that the vertical trim was detailed and not flat. It adds character (and you just used the same word when adding the top trim). Loved that single braid in the top trim. This was an interesting and beautiful build. I am watching your speedy version on Instagram on the left monitor, and this build on the right monitor...love it. And you know how much I love pocket holes. It was nice seeing your dad, but where was Tucker??? 🐕 Hope all is well with you and Devin, and if you celebrate, Happy Easter, 🐰 if not...Happy Spring. 🌷🌷

Absolutely beautiful piece! I have an antique secretary that is the same style and even the same color; only difference, mine has drawers on the bottom middle section and doors on each narrow side. I know you were probably going for a piece of furniture look, but also surprised you didn't extend it to go wall to wall for the additional storage.
Can't wait to see it styled and what will be on each side.

What are those blue blocks you use in conjunction with your jig that holds the boards in place for you as you slide down the length of your boards to drill your jig holes? They look very helpful when you don’t have extra hands to hold the wood vertical.

Noticed on the shelves, you did not stain the back edge, yes they will not be seen, but a little extra step to add a little protection, I agree no need to urethane. Also assume on the corner cuts a little putty light sanding and a bit more stain, then did you urethane the trim pieces afterwards?
Beautifully done! I love dark and moody rooms. Comfy and cozy. The addition of attention to the molding is wonderful. My only concern is the accumulation of dust behind the crown molding. I personally use waxpaper on top of my upper cabinets and on top of my fridge. Nothing sticks to it. It is very easy to clean. Besides, no one can see it.
