Don’t change a thing, man. The magic behind this channel, at least for me, is that it feels like we’re all just hangin’ out. There is zero need to turn it into a thing.
When you started this channel towards episode about 50 I feared that you will take the channel down because of comments of some people and you even said that you might do it , and since I felt that its a possible i recorded all the 50 episodes from start to finish becouse i could not let that wisdom disappear, I’m glad this channel is still going strong and it seems that you are enjoying it more then ever , i cant tell you how much i appreciate you . Much love tom
No Doubt.. You Tom are the best friend and inspirational musical drive that i always need in my world. Well said a I appreciate and full on love your devotion. Any one who comes home after all day everyday in the studio with the world class musicians that you consider your dearest friends and then unwinds by playing more music with a bunch of strangers for fun and to try and maybe help many of us so that the thing that you love so much can be fed in the right way is to me straight up a thing of beauty personified.. Thank you Tom..so very much..
For what it's worth... I think your video/audio quality is perfect. It gives me the sense of being in the room with you. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos for us.
Totally agree- In fact, most of the time I’m watching these thinking “how the hell does it sound this good just with a cell phone on a desktop?!”. Love his format.
Uncle Larry, don't change a thing about this channel, it's perfect! The fact that you have the creative energy to hang out, play and share your profound knowledge with us besides your session work is amazing. The less work it means for you, the better for us. Everyone not completely deaf can hear the sheer talent and musicality in your clips. And like with the NPR tiny desk concerts, the immediacy and naturalness makes them hit way harder than any full blown production. Keep it simple man, and keep 'em coming.
On one hand you inspire me. On the other hand I feel like I'm spending too much time watching and not enough time playing. But I'll tell you this... When I do pick up my guitar, I'm enjoying it even more than before.
I love the production of these videos! Makes me feel like I’m stopping by larry’s place and hangin in the kitchen talkin guitar stuff. It ain’t broke, don’t fix it👍🏻.
I fully believe that besides the fact your the monster player you are, it's your personality, your pure love of music and deadpan dry sense of humor that attracts the folks who hire you and why the classmates like me love ya man. I never miss an episode! You rock Tom!!
Don't change a thing Tom. I've been here the whole ride, it just gets better and better. Exceeding expectations long ago. I'll order those books for my granddaughter too. Oh yeah, I was 13 in 1970. I think I'll listen to The Jeff Beck Group (orange) album tonight. Cheers
This format needs precisely zero changes. I love how informal and stream-of-consciousness the show is. Making the videos higher quality would likely reduce the frequency of posts. Let’s not forget, the guys that are ACTUALLY OUT THERE MAKING A CAREER PLAYING GUITAR probably don’t have time to set up 9 cameras and sit in front of Adobe all day video editing. Tom has some great concert streams out there with fantastic production. Go watch those!
Uncle Larry invites us in. I just feel damned lucky to be here. Every lesson strikes a chord. Who needs books and diplomas when your teacher gives you real life to learn from. Gordon‘s awesome. Y’all are. 👏🏻
To read with the kids: "The Mouse and the Motorcycle", by Beverly Cleary. That bit with Gordon Mote singing is absolutely classic !! Thanks again for letting us sit in on your class sessions in your garage, music room and kitchen !! The delivery is perfect regardless of what some nit-picking nitwit says.
No do not change the production. The sounds is great, more natural to what you really sound like in the room. Sounds better than most other guitar channels 👍🏻
Everyone’s said it, but I will too - the channel is perfect. The vibe, the stuff you teach and talk about, the tones and how they come across - it’s all beautiful. I won’t say don’t ever change it because it’s your art, but I love that you always follow your heart and have chosen to share it with us. ❤
On my second rewatch of this one. You’re doing way more than most of us would have time or energy for after a day laying it all down. I’ll say it - 42+ has been my new 13. Since the Homeskoolin’ show started. Formative music years, later in life. Peace, Tommy. Peace. 👏🏻
21:07 that reminds me of stranger things. Thanks for all good stuff you put out in UA-cam land 🎸. Really learn a lot by just listening. I usually watch these on my lunch break.
Don't change a thing. You just keep being you. The other 99.9% of us appreciate you inviting us into your kitchen, garage, studio, stage, etc. Some people are just just complainers . . . about anything and everything. To those people the old phrase "Don't look a gift horse in the mouth." is appropriate. Also . . . nice intentional chord of complete dissonance . . . made me laugh out loud. Always appreciate you, man. Best channel on UA-cam!
Oh man, that bit with Gordon was so hilarious! Man that boy has some lungs too! Every video is a treat, even if its just hanging out and shootin' the breeze. Never change, Tom. You're exactly who you need to be!
Gordon makes me smile. Spontaneous jamming is precious. I don't think some folk know just how precious, until jamming buddies start passing on. As for you and turning this into a 'slick show'...I'm grateful to be part of home skoolin'. It often feels like being invited into a decompression chamber but without all the claustrophobia I imagine comes with tank life. Carry on, Tom! Sharing yourself on a regular basis is a gift. I would rather see and hear what you're thinking about on any given day, than watch a slick video I know took too much time, energy, and attention to create. When you're doing that, you're not making music!
Please don’t turn this channel into a fkn super edited everything has to be perfect type of bs UA-cam channel like alotta these dudes I love the unedited turn the iPhone on and press record and just be the real mofo that you are. This has become my favorite channel and it’s amazing just the way it is. You make it feel like I’m just chillin with one of my bros hangin out jamming & shooting the shit. Love this channel just the way it is F that guy that keeps saying you should change this or and that.
Uncle Larry, thanks for those book recommends. I think we all need to take a break from reading the news and read those books. My boys are grown, but reading them stories and they are the better for it. Yep, don't be changing how you do these videos. My guess is that 99.9% of us love just hanging with you in the kitchen or at the gigs. Thanks for bring some genuine sunshine to us all.
Packed after a gig tonight, I looked down to see that I had a new episode from my favorite uncle. It was perfect to listen to this on the long drive home. Thank you.
Damn man! You never fail to blow my mind with your incredibly melodic playing. Pure talent being displayed purely -don't you dare change a thing brother!
Thank you Tom from Kona Hawaii. I enjoy the music, the behind the scenes of being The session man, and the love your friends and family have for one another. I’ve also learned a lot about music. Although a lot of what you do goes over my head, I keep watching because the sounds you make inspire me to “fish around” and find new sounds too. I love you Tom and pray you and your family continue to be blessed by the gifts God has given you and Sarah and peace, joy, and prosperity fill your home. Whether you continue the videos or not(I hope you do for many more ), I just wanted to say thank you for the ones that you’ve done and continue to do. Aloha
Hey Tom, I was away over Christmas so only just had the chance to watch the gig you so kindly shared with us, what a blast! Like a late Christmas gift 🎁. Seriously, thanks for sharing. Oh, and a belated Happy Birthday 🎉
Thank you Tom for the book recommendations. I will admit I’ve been struggling a bit as a first time Dad who has a toddler. It has definitely cut into my practice time as well.
Love this episode Tom, I used to see some great bands growing up also. JSU like most college towns got some cool stuff regularly. Got to see Pure Prairie League play there one time free. Brothers Bar always had cool stuff too. Thanks Tom your YT shows are the best!
Its good to see and hear the human side of a professional Nashville gunslinger. Keep it real man, sounds great and I thoroughly enjoy your straight shooting conversations from your garage and now kitchen. Like hanging out with an old friend, no change to your delivery or production necessary. I've learned so many valuable lessons on style, touch and feel from these Homeskoolin sessions, a profound influence on me and how I now approach guitar, and I thank you for that. Cheers man!
Thanks for everything Tom. Look forward to your vids everyday. I was devastated hearing of Jeff Beck. I’m 32 but I got to see him live and it meant the world. I live in Brooklyn but am from Syracuse. Would love to catch you live someday, I was in Nashville 2021 but those were different times. Thanks again for everything and I truly appreciate you. Cheers Uncle Larry
Hey Tom, I’m coming out of a shitty couple of weeks - the kitchen classroom and the field trips are bringing much needed joy. Gordon is a hoot ! Been with ya since the first class my man and it’s been a cool ride. Cheers to a happy healthy 2023. And maybe a little TTW on the road ?
Loved the opening bit with Gordon. He's so funny! Just my two cents, but I like this stuff just the way you serve it up. I hope you keep on doing just as you damn well please, Tom.
Great, heartfelt. For me it was 14. Chuck Berry , Maybolinne, summer of 1955. Grand Concourse, The Bronx.Grey portable radio. In the fall of 1954 I listened to the Giants win the World Series. I was 13 then . I feel I am fortunate to have both experiences. In the long run music wins for me. Thanks for all you've done to create this on line community.
Larry, tu canal es perfecto, no cambies nada !! es el unico canal de youtuve del que espero un video nuevo. Eres un monstruo , un musico completo .... ojala algun dia pueda tomar una cerveza contigo !!!!
With so much dishonesty and BS in the world, especially from politicians, thank you for for being the real guy that you are. Your personality is refreshing and your guitar playing is a treasure. Don't stop!
My husband and I love inviting you into our home - several times a day! You feel like our amazingly talented, wise and warm-hearted buddy! ❤We enjoy every minute of your shows. You’re an inspiration to both of us! Thank you so very much!
Dude, the low fi videos are why I love your channel. Feels like I get to have coffee and a jam with Larry. Never change. The format rules. Keep it a little greasy. We like it that way. 🤘🏻😎
Tom’s devotion to guitar, to his “students,” and to music that is deep and meaningful rather than showy and bombastic is an absolute blessing. And his promotion of reading and poetry is, for this English literature fanatic, a beautiful dollop of icing on the cake. Thanks, Tom, for bringing so much positive energy into a world in need of authentic expressions of love. At the end of the day, isn’t that what great music is? An expression of love. There are many great You Tubers out there playing guitar and making insightful videos, such as Rick Beato and Tim Pierce, but Homeskoolin provides a special, unique, indispensable take on what a You Tube channel can be. I’m a far better guitarist and a more insightful musician and overall person because of the down-home honesty that Tom brings to his videos. He’s one helluva teacher and guitar player. Thanks, Tom! You’ve made the You Tube world a far better place than when you stumbled onto it. You’re the best!
Man! As always love you Uncle Larry...I came home to a package from my gal. Lo and behold..was a home skoolin t shirt, perfect fit (unlike those gildans). Also with a copy of plexi soul inside..we love ya. She's a homeskooler too! Thanks for all you do 👍
Bits of Bakersfield from the Hills of Ohio, ...that Ralph Moony run !?!🔥 Brought me back to my 11 year old self at The Bakersfield Inn with my Grandpa listing to ol' Ralph just tear it up ! ( I actually saw him a bunch when I was kid ) You are the BEST My friend, Thank you from the rain soaked Santa Cruz Mountains, We'll see if we can some of those ideas in the ol' tool box today. Thanks again Tom, Your content gives me a sane place to go to in this wacky world ...
I agree with the sentiments below. There's a uniquely cozy vibe with the videos. It's like you're sat in the room with us. I feel like I should be offering to grab you a beer! Also, nice hair cut!
Hey Larry... I hope you read this. I downloaded over 100 of your musical bits from this channel and compiled a record with them. My wife and I have been listening to it and it has quickly become our favorite record. As a guitar fan I can guarantee that if you released it, people would love it. So. Good. I wanted to send it to you but I figured you would not get it cause of too many emails, junk mail, etc. I'd love to get it in your hands. I bought everything you sell: t-shirt, album, Trip the Witch... love it all. Especially since the shirt isn't Gildan. Lol Thanks Larry. This channel is one of the best things on the web (no smoke up butt).
man, the off the cuffness and general disregard of the normal way of being on youtube is part of what makes your vids so enjoyable.. dont change anything its great the way it is
same in Florida whats up with that! Gordan is something else he is treasure for sure ! I am glad that I found that i found your channel I seen every post from 1 to 187 keep it up love it
Don’t change a thing, man. The magic behind this channel, at least for me, is that it feels like we’re all just hangin’ out. There is zero need to turn it into a thing.
That's right. This channel makes my day!

It's perfect
As real as it gets! Thanks so much, it's so inspiring. 🙏
The bits with Gordon are gold! Thanks tom.

Don't change anything about the channel! It is amazing! Thank you for even turning on your phone for us! So awesome!
All this free content from a great session player is much appreciated. No bitching about audio from me. Thanks uncle Larry
I fully believe that besides the fact your the monster player you are, it's your personality, your pure love of music and deadpan dry sense of humor that attracts the folks who hire you and why the classmates like me love ya man. I never miss an episode! You rock Tom!!
Man , I love your channel the way that it is. Uncle Larry, a guitar and the truth, no BS, gimmicks, click baits.

Dang, Uncle Larry! That’s one sweet sounding SG. So expressive and vocal. Perfect for a Tele duet!
Hey Tom. We love you just the way you are.
The channel is not broke so don't fix it! I have no problem watching awesome free guitar content. Thanks Larry.
Everyone’s said it, but I will too - the channel is perfect. The vibe, the stuff you teach and talk about, the tones and how they come across - it’s all beautiful. Thanks for the master class! That was sooo good.
I’m from Toledo, OH and used to see as much as I could. I’m still amazed they played that material.
These videos feel like I'm sitting in Uncle Larry's kitchen chatting and that's fine with me 😆
Awesome. Great playing as usual.
Happy Friday, Classmates! Enjoy the playoffs this weekend, Tom

I like the candid raw videos. Fuck all that high production shit. Keep doing what you’re doing Unc!
